VN's are always more about the character interaction than any "story". The background plot is just there just to keep things from getting too stale.

I thought it was implied pretty heavily, but I disliked everybody else except Jill. Even then she had her low points. And interactions basically boiled down to people just talking to themselves about themselves, and went back to point 1.

Things already got stale when the game started, I really shouldn't have played the demo, because instead of mixing things up or expanding on the concepts presented there, it was exactly the same. It felt like my 30 minute demo experience was stretched into a hours long readthrough that had the exact same story beats and the same dialogue like the demo.
