A better Skyrim

Howcome its so underplayed and underrated despite being released similar time while being vastly superior game ?

Attached: 111211.jpg (200x227, 18K)

Because it doesn't even have 5% of the content of Skyrim

Great action rpg with way superior battles to anything in skyrim but it doesn't have much story, lore, or real roleplaying.

it's japanese so it's grindy and has some weird as fuck UX features.

>doesn't even have 5% of the content of Skyrim
???
>9 classes vs no classes
>4 weapon types versus each class having its own weapon type
>romanceable NPCs vs non-romanceable companions

The map is probably only 30% as big as Skyrim's map. Skyrim also has so many side quests that you can play for more than 100 hours without even touching the main quest.
I still think Skyrim is a piece of shit but it has more content than Dragon's Dogma for sure.

Map is tiny
Very little enemy variety
Only 5 dungeons
Only 1 dragon (a damn good one) the rest are minibosses
Only one save file
Pawns are cancerous
Plot is stupid after you beat the dragon
Romance system is steaming garbage
Aught

I think Dragon's Dogma is kind of overwhelming for some newcomers. I remember feeling that all this shit felt really convoluted at the start of the game.

WHERE THE HELL IS DD2?

It’s unfinished and a completely different game where 80% of attacks involve standing still and waiting for a bar to fill.

Warrior is a shit class with half as many skills as any other class.

Your pawn can't even access higher tier classes.

>UX features
What the fuck is ux? I'm seriously getting too old for this website.

It's literally dmc 4 all over again.

The term UX is older than you, faggot.

because you actually have to play it. skyrim plays itself so normalfags eat it up.

What is overwhelming about DD? It's not really any more complicated to play than, for example, Mass Effect. I suppose by action adventure game standards it's more complicated than Uncharted but by RPG standards it's pretty basic shit.

>have to play it
>literally designed around shopping for pawns to heal you and kill everything

weak-willed plebs get filtered out from the lack of shiny explosions and arbitrary rewards constantly being flung in their face which is ironic because the entire game is about forging a will strong enough to carry the world

...the game’s most lauded trait is shiny explosions
>woooow there’s a tornado after I stand still for 10 seconds! BEST. MAGIC. EVAAAAA

It'd be better if the pawn characters weren't literally souless robots

>literally designed around shopping for pawns
the game is easily doable without pawns, pleb.

Are you serious? The magic system in the game, which Yea Forums routinely calls "god tier", is nothing more than shiny explosions and the game showers you in arbitrary drops after every fucking fight.

Boring, bland, generic solo mmorpg. More overrated than undertale.

>easily doable without pawns
>game gives you 3 anyway
>you have to play the game, it doesn’t play itself like skyrim
You really didn’t think this bait through, have you?

giving it to you and having it designed around pawns are two separate things, retard.

Classes aren't even balanced and romances are worthless in DD.

Im not saying I like Skyrim better, I'm saying I like Dark Souls better.

>9 classes vs no classes
Restrictred classes with 3-9 abilities to use at the same time vs absolute freedom
>4 weapon types versus each class having its own weapon type
12 vs 10 Alright, Dragon's Dogma wins this one
>romanceable NPCs vs non-romanceable companions
Have you even played skyrim?
Equip Amulet of Mara and talk to bitches. Your waifu even runs a shop for you.
No need for that random affinity bullshit for your post-dragon bullshit.

Grindan gaems vs walking simulator
I like both games and have played both for hundreds of hours, apparently you havent

>The magic system in the game, which Yea Forums routinely calls "god tier"
What? Which system?
Both are fucking horrenous

>game features enemies that literally can’t be killed without ranged weapons, like metal golems with discs floating 50 feet in the air or sitting on top of trees
>has classes with 0 ranged attacks
>game features enemies impervious to physical damage
>has classes with 0 magic attacks
>durr it wasn’t designed around having pawns to complement your class

it requires brain power and normies don't want that

Bethesda spend moreon marketing than Capcom on making DD

On what? The game was piss easy even on hard. Did they fix the difficulty since the PS360 version?

It has far less content and modularity than Skyrim, but far, far greater combat. I always maintain in the "combine two games" threads that DDDA's combat plus Skyrims sheer breadth and mods would make one hell of a game. Alas, ddda gets tons of its content cut and skyrims combat is utterly garbage.

No, they added the new island where you can grind instead of post-dragon everfall

>hold button down for 20 seconds to cast a spell
>magic cannon

Attached: dogma01.jpg (1600x1756, 1.38M)

totally agree

DD was not some tiny little small budget passion project. Capcom invested an enormous amount of money into it. It's development team was more than twice the size of Skyrim's development team.

The world is not immersive. The NPCs are cardboard, and to top it all off, the story is complete shit.

Wasn't that island on those versions too? I only ever played DA on the 360 so I don't know but I've been tempted to buy it again for my PC

>the mini-games are a special thrill
What mini-games?

Being better than Skyrim isn't really much of an accomplishment

>little small budget passion project
dude, back then it borrowed people from RE and DMC team, plus the core team (100 people). It started as the biggest capcom project but they cut short the development cycle (almost 2 years).

>ign

Every fuckin thing they say is wrong
Game journalists are severely retarded and should be shot

Might be, it's called Bitterblack Isle/Dark Arisen.
I have no idea if that DLC was released in the 360 version

The reviews are fake. People keep falling for this image.

>skyrim
>content
ah yes a million draugr ruins sure are content

DD is one of those objectively flawed games that is very divisive, either you like its oddities and forgive its flaws or you see its oddities as flaws

You play them for different reasons.
Skyrim is the better comfy simulator.
Dragons Dogma for actually good gameplay.

DD is an objectively great game and anyone who doesn't like it is a pleb that got filtered.

Because it doesn't appeal to normies.
Simple as that, the game is not as accessible and bland as Skyrim is.
I don't hate Skyrim though

>vastly superior game
they both have about the same level of jank

Skyrim, for all its failings, at least has some enemy variety, more quests, more freedom, is not arbitrarily limiting you in what you can do because durr your class can literally only use a sword, has a shitload of written content, lets you do stuff other than kill goblins and wolves all day, like smithing, alchemy, thieving, assassination, swimming and diving, building a house, etc.
Comparing the two games is fundamentally retarded, one is an actual sandbox, and the other one is basically open world Resident Evil Revelations with swords and SotC mechanics.

because it didn't have an original pc release

>I'm seriously getting too old for this website
And too ignorant, seems like

WHEN IS DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 Yea ForumsROS?

DD is no less casual than Skyrim, don’t delude yourself. There was exactly 1 encounter in the entire game that wasn’t piss easy before DA, and even then it was only because hitting the wings was clunky as fuck.

I don't believe that shit. DD is no more complicated than something like an Assassin's Creed game is. The lack of appeal doesn't come from "HARDCORE GAMERS ONLY!" shit. Personally, I think it comes from DD feeling like you are playing a tiny MMO with bots instead of friends.

People ha e shit taste as always. TES are absolute fucking trash yet people still eat them up. You can't expect the average person to have anything approaching good taste.

>There was exactly 1 encounter in the entire game that wasn’t piss easy before DA
What encounter was that?
I've only played DA

Difficulty alone is no indication of whether the game is "casual" or not. Accessibility and game design are too and DD feels very arcade and not suited for wider audience.

>MMO with bots instead of friends.
You're saying like its a bad thing

Why do people act like being able to do everything like in skyrim is a good thing and having classes is a bad thing

>a better skyrim
>isn't anything like skyrim
you're so retarded holy shit
embarrassing.

Online ur-dragon.

>DD
>very arcade
It feels like an MMO if anything. The great majority of the skills is a button press followed by waiting for a bar to fill up.
It gets slightly better later as you get timing-sensitive skills, but is by no means a single person’s first impression that the game is “very arcade”.

Why do people act like antiquated multiplayer based pen and paper RPG mechanics are appropriate for a modern single player video game?

It’s not even P&P classes, DD classes are completely retarded jrpg classes.
What P&P rpg only lets you use a fucking sword and shield and reserves using a mace to a single class?

I don't even know why I love Dragon's dogma so much. It's so full of rpg tropes and lacking in content. It has shitty hitboxes that infuriate me time after time. But still, it just has that (forgive me for the buzzword) soul or something that clicks.
For me it must've been the locations that did it first. From the starting village to witch forest, the area around the abbey and that castle holding back the goblin invasion in the canyon. I still havent explored BBI

probably the pawn system, i guess

Post it.

dragons dogma pawns had more soul than any skyrim companion, despite literally not having souls as part of the plot

Jesus christ the bethesda cope is real

im reinstalling right now

skyrim is shit, but anyone who thinks dd is any less shit is a cock sucking fanboy
for every criticism of skyrim you have, there is one of dd, and your subjective weighing of those issues isn’t worth shit

>unironically comparing DD to skyrim
kill yourself zoomer retard

It has maybe triple the content of Skyrim in the Dark Arisen version.

We are talking about Dragon's Dogma here.

literally the thread you larping little underaged nigger

>Hurdur pen and paper mechanics are antiquated and only allow you to use a fucking bow
Having classes is a great system as long as you can hit the sweet spot between versatility while still being specialized.

Skyrim has a pretty generic world but Dragon's Dogma is even more generic. More races, quests, factions to join, an actual open world etc. You've also got skills not related directly to combat like stealing and persuasion.

Let's be honest, the only thing Dragon's Dogma has going for it is the combat but people overrate the importance of that aspect in an rpg.

Nude mods you retard

The massive amount of mods do make the game infinitely re-playable
