Why can't Yea Forums ever have a honest discussion about this game? It's 90% of the time it devolves into consolewar faggotry or people just shitting on/shilling for Nintendo. What's your honest opinion of the game user?
Why can't Yea Forums ever have a honest discussion about this game...
16 is a hell of a drug
My first opinion of the game was that it is pretty decent. Then I accidentally fell into Ganon's Lair and thought 'fuck it I'll fight'. I creamed him. Then the game does something that I hate. Ganon takes on a final form, but for this form I need a horse and a special weapon that I only get to have for this fight. I didn't have a horse during my entire time with the game, outside the skeleton horse but the game won't let you keep it. So I get the two things because the game won't work otherwise. I beat this form of Ganon and the game and my interest abruptly ended. After accidentally beating the game I never had the desire to fire it up again. Breath of the Wild certainly wasn't the second coming that it was hailed to be, but it wasn't a horrible game either. It sits somewhere in the middle somewhere. So there you are OP one honest opinion.
It's somewhat fun but incredibly overrated.
The final battle is a joke. The trials are jokes, but I guess in some cases you can be creative on how to solve it, but doesn't really require much of a functioning brain to do so.
These. The only content in the game is the main quest, and once you finish it there's no reason to continue playing or to ever replay it. It's fun, yeah, but it's not the masterpiece reviewers and such think it is.
The storytelling was abysmal and the divine beasts as well as their bosses were generally forgettable. The game’s charm lies with its map and exploration. I’ll never forget when I first discovered eventide or korok forest, with their unique shrines and mission. It’s unfortunate that much of this appeal wanes over repeat playthroughs. Overall it’s not as innovative or special as some like to portray it and it certainly has its flaws, but I definitely enjoyed playing it and wouldn’t mind seeing more Zelda games like it.
I think it's a solid 7 but I haven't played it so it might actually by a 6
Because the only complaints about it are nonsensical as a result of pure jealousy and seethe
how do people play this shit in 30 fps ?
That’s interesting to me because I beat Ganon early like you did. However, I actually felt even more compelled to explore the areas I hadn’t before.
I'm sure it's a pretty good modern open world game, but it doesn't have anything that i used to like about Zelda anymore. No good dungeons anymore, no good level design, no story, that fucking unbearable weapon degradation system.
I'm sure it's good but i don't care anymore.
Because everything has been said. It's 2 years old now and was so popular that it got discussed to death. Just let go.
there aren't many games like this that are portable, that's why.
Perhaps the most exciting moment I’ve ever experienced in a game was climbing to the peak of the tallest mountain and finding the diseased dragon. I hadn’t felt that way playing a game since I was very, very young.
lmao git gud
The plateau was great, everything else was a bit of a letdown. Once I realized that early on I rushed Hyrule after a few hours of game time and had a blast getting up there. The open world was lackluster, the environmental variation was decent enough but there wasn't actually much of interest to explore. We needed more fleshed out content like Hyrule Castle and every shrine should have been like lost woods where you're exploring an area rather than a copy/pasted physics puzzle or test of strength. It's a 7/10, shield surfing is nice. Needed more enemy variation.
faggot
Shrouded shrine, not lost woods I'm a retard.
Surprisingly good. I picked it up recently after a big sale and expected it to be pretty boring given how much Yea Forums seemed to hate it, as well as many of my friends absolutely trashed it.
And then it turned out to be pretty good, well polished and all-around fun. I expected the durability system to be a dealbreaker but instead it turned out to be woven into the rest of the game so well that I don't even notice it.
With that said, the storytelling is absolute dogshit. I just finished the champion's ballad DLC and the little dialogue and storytelling they had was so unforgivably bad that I was angry every time I put down the controller. It's like a ten year old rushed his homework in at 11PM. Everything is just a flat out copy-paste with absolutely zero effort put into it.
The rewards were pretty nice though.
I don't think it was bad but fuck I felt as bored with the open world as I have in other open world games like rdr2. Feels like nothings happening most of the time and its needlessly big. I really didn't care for the combat system either. I think the sequel will have a chance of actually being deserving of the praise the game gets from nintendofags and reviewers but given how much the game was loved by them and normalfags I can't seem them doing that much to fix the game. Some quality of life improvements sure but nothing fixing some of its bigger issues.
Everything that's there is amazing, it just needs to be expanded on for the next game. More content, more story, more systems, actual dungeons. It's a massive amount of potential and is going to shape game development for the next couple generations, it just needs to be an actual solid game to get a high score.
t. giant zelda fanboy for the past 25 years that has played through the every game in the series over a dozen times that took 2 weeks off of work when this game released
It's not perfect, due to previously stated issues, but for me personally it's the most fun I've had in a video game for a long while. I think it mostly has to do with how well designed the overworld itself is.
It was neat. It felt like there was way too little to do besides the shrines, and the dungeons were pretty lame besides the DLC one. But it had a solid physics engine. Also the labyrinths were cool
I love Kass! I want to be held in his arms and sleep on his pillowy chest!
Pretty good for the first ~15 hours.
Then it rehashes everything ad nauseam.
Definitely in my top 3 worst 3D Zelda.
I think its grossly overrated. I've never been the type to be impressed by big worlds or fancy physics engines. I feel like most of the challenges in the game can be boiled down into "put the ball in the cup" puzzles and while I understand that the weapon durability is a tool used to force the player to explore their options, I would prefer it to not be there and to be allowed to play the game in the way that I want.
That in addition to the lack of any real narrative or soundtrack aside from short jingles and ambient noise make the game feel very shallow.
7/10 for me. It has its moments, but the open world loses its luster after a dozen hours, give or take.
You'll be fighting the same six recolored enemies, the same guardians, looking for the same gazillion korok seeds and gimmick shrines throughout the entire game. Places like Eventide and the underground labyrinths were few and far between. Imagine exploring every nook and cranny and actually finding something worthwhile, like an underground dungeon behind a waterfall? A conceptual version of BOTW is truly worth praise, but whether due to time or budget the game feels extraordinarily empty.
It's the game of the decade.
I didn't like it. The foundation for an amazing game is there, but in practice, all the fun I had was cut short due to a variety of issues. First off, even after collecting 7-8 hearts and having my armor upgraded by a fairy, I still kept getting one-shotted randomly by enemies or lightening. Once or twice, this isn't an issue, but when I lose several minutes of progress to this in a row, it's incredibly frustrating. Besides this, the exploration is also very unrewarding. In past Zelda games, you could find a piece of a heart, a skulltula, or another cool hidden item, while in BotW it's just korok seeds, shrines, some generic weapon, and rupees if you're lucky. Also, while there's a ton of potential in the game for really fun scenarios, the map is just too big to make them consistent, so a lot of it is painfully bland too. Sure, there are cool places on the map, the movement tech is really polished, the aesthetic is nice, etc. etc., but the core gameplay wasn't fun to me, so I dropped it.
I expect that the people who gave it 10s uniformly did so because it's 'immersive', but I've played a lot of so-called immersive games where the base gameplay holds up a lot better than BotW. So yeah, sue me, I didn't like it.
