THE WAIT IS FUCKING KILLING ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Should be good. I'm replaying Death Wish for Blood atm. Great fun.

>Onions Maiden
I thought it came out a while ago. Unless I'm mistaking it for some other game.
>still playing games with garbage graphics
must be shit living in a third world country like MURICA and being forced to play basic looking games because your computers are shit.
i guess you fat fucks just have to COPE with being poor af.
You know, the devs are boomers who play Ultima Underworl and collect PC vidya boxes from 80s and 90s. They're not exactly the usual beta guys that are usually posted here.
Look at the game: at this point it's the only retroFPS wich doesn't look like shit.
Is that why they complained about sexist 90s character design?
That was the CEO, not the devs. This said, the final model is shit compared to 90s art concepts.
OBSESSED
They never complained, they just showed how Shelly's design evolved from its original conception.
steamcommunity.com
They released a 2 level demo (and later added a third level to it) but the full game isn't out yet.
GASP! I didn't even know they were remastering Shadow Warrior!
>Uses shurikens and katana

>Build engine and Idtech communities have a no number of passionate fans who makes mods and full games to this day

A paid demo on GOG and Steam.
>On Steam
Nowhere to be found, liar.
THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEEEE
>he thinks China had no idea what shurikens or katanas were when they are literally right next to Japan
Weebs need to die already. This nigger thinks Japanese weapons were some kind of super secret ancient technology only Japan has ever known.
>want to replay Death Wish
>remember the jumpscare
Fuck this shit.
>garbage graphics
You are either trolling or a philistine swine. The game's art direction is unironically the best I've seen since Pixel-Shader 2.0 were introduced and artists/devs became lazy pigs.
What you see in this pic is entirely handcrafted. If you are an ignorant faggot you won't appreciate it, but there are people out there who do.
Also their dev-blog is extremely interesting, teling stuff about the quirks of the Built engine:
Recent legal battle aside, why does it take them so fucking long to release a game made on an engine from two decades ago?
>Calling sexy 90's designs "problematic" and embarassing looking back isn't complaining
Wrong. That's wrong.
Like every indie dev not having a publisher breath down your neck and basically holding you to deadlines the Dev time drags on and on and on. Look at A hat in time for example.
>Ion Faggot
NO, I WANT SHADOW WARRIOR
Have you played the demo? Of all the recent "retro" fps this actually feels authentic in terms of movement, level design, easter eggs placement, campyness. As if you are playing something from the mid to late 90s. I genuiniely miss that feeling.
I replayed Blood and Shadow Warrior this year. This outshines and outclasses Shadow Warrior so fucking hard, it's not even funny, but that's just my personal opinion. Take from that what you will.
>Enter room
>Full of hitscans with no wind-up animations
WOW SO HARDCORE
Are you ok?
I wouldn't use the term "problematic", but most of those designs are just trash. Sad to see her lose her nipples though.
They went away from the sexy design, but didn't quite got to the point where's she's a badass cyborg girl either. The final design is just plain and boring. Safe.
apparently they are announcing something on the 11th yeah
all those manually placed shadows get me hard
>Make too stair

Wooooooooow
Thanks for the bump anyway. I want more people to find out about this game.
How hard is build mapping?
I'm using Trenchbroom for Quake right now and it's so insanely easy and intuitive to use that even me, a retard can use it.
I hope they finish it soon, awesome.
Try Amid Evil in the meantime. Its based af
False.
>Onions
What the fuck does this shit even mean?
Holy shit dude
Amid Evil is honestly amazing.
Fucking shame that Ion Maiden can only release one episode by the time that Dusk and AE release.
It's an automatic word filter. Not that it helps to stop shitposting in the slightest.
Oh nice, I didn't know they'd finally started using wf's again. Good, I hope they do it for a lot of the other stuff that gets spammed, preferably adding some rng() function so that the wf's automatically swap around from time to time too.
It is not the 90s anymore buddy
Imagine playing fortnite.
I hate the graphics style of Amid Evil. It looks exactly like what one would get if they were to take a FPS game from the year 1997 and implement new shader technology in its graphics engine so that there are new lights and material properties, and then just applied all of that directly into that old-ass game without even attempting to improve the game's assets, so it's all stuck in 1997, it's just shiny now. Looks horrible in my opinion. It's like an atrocious fanmade HD texture pack except worse.
Bump. I've been looking for new games and this looks great. Suggest more similar games if you know of any.
Imagine being this much of a pleb
so you haven't played it
overload
Nah he's right, it's jarring. A graphics switch for directx 5 style lighting would really improve the game
they should do these retro games like capcom did with resident evil 2: make it feel like you are playing an awesome game in 1998, instead of making it look like it.
nobody except reddit fagboys pretend to like this shit for whatever reasons. even when i replay quake these days i use mods to make it look better.
t. looking at the original duke nukem 3d big box bought in 1996 right now
What does this guy mean by "hard" though? Does he mean simply using the map tools or actually making a good map? There's a difference.
My map might be utter garbage sure, for Quake but the actual mapping tool is so fucking easy. You literally just drag and drop everything you want.
Blood is my favourite FPS game. Death Wish is just that cherry on top. It's getting an update soon as well.
youtu.be
>He wouldn't kill for a new Resident Evil in the original engine just with expanded limits
Absolute s o y opinion.
no u
Sued into the ground
When does it release? It feels like I've been mildly hyped for years.
You really think Deus Ex would look good if you just increased texture resolution to 8k and put specular mapping on everything? Because that's what Amid Evil looks like except with nearest-neighbor texture filtering.
There's going to be an announcement in 3 days
Isn't that just the name change announcement?
This desu
Maybe it's just a personal preference but I love mid to late 90s graphics. Be it 2d or early 3d. They're ugly and charming.
They are not full-time devs. This is a side project they do along with their actual jobs.
lol, no. that dadrock band has no case whatsoever.
Hallowed Be Thy Name In A Brave New World.
I grew up with Iron Maiden but the audacity and arrogance of these old, pants shitting senile fucks is something else because they have been plagiarising and stealing intellectual property throughout their entire career and getting away with it.
If I was 3D Realms I would counter-sue their ass into oblivion.
She wants his shota white dick.
>arrogance of these old, pants shitting senile fucks
Pretty sure it's just their lawyers running rampant, doubt the band members themselves even know about the game or the lawsuit.
Did you even read what Frederik Schreiber wrote?
They said it had a heavy emphasis on sex because the character was inspired by the movie "Barb Wire" but they just moved away from that because the team wanted to focus on her time in the GDF.
There is no mentioning of the words problematic or embarrassing in the article only that this is a typical 90es era style.
nah she wants the dad
one thing I will say is that amid evil looks way better in motion, screenshots seem to exaggerate the sharpening
uh what did Iron Maiden steal? Well other than the fact that they did not came up with the name.
Those just look ugly and are unnecessary.
90's graphics are fine, and Thief's Dark Engine has already been upgraded to have fewer limitations. But "Resident Evil in the original engine with expanded limits" is a bad idea because the original engine is an unacceptable compromise whose limitation is not limited to visuals, but severely impacts control and feedback. And I think if a game's difficulty is based on bad controls and insufficient feedback, then that game's difficulty is based on bad design. It was the only way to get those visuals back then, but I don't think it's acceptable to so completely compromise a game's design for visuals anymore. Thief: The Dark Project has shown that immersion does not come from graphics, but from control. And there is no better way to ruin control than pre-rendered backgrounds and static camera angles. It was never a deliberate design decision. In RE1 on the PS1 and in REmake on the gamecube, both were a compromise to improve visual quality at the expense of playability.
That looks absolutely hideous.
Shhh... only new features now.
What is this ugly shit anyway? Is this part of that godawful HD texture mod? As long as its not an addition to Newdark who gives a shit. Most people only use newdark.
What in the fuck? That's seriously ugly.
>that youtube shitpost video aftereffect
I'm 90% certain that Iron Maiden the band had nothing to do with the lawsuit. It had to be some fresh out of law school shekel-hungry ambulance chaser who found out that there is a popular old band and a retro videogame named after a medieval torture device and whored his services to the band to get their delicious dollaridoos out of defending their copyright ownership of some thousand year old tech they don't own. Even if the lawsuit is pointless, that faggot still gets his salary. The band wastes their time, the game devs waste their money, everyone loses except the law leech.
Might as well have those fucking CoD hit markers.
>Reading
>In current year
Lol
There's literally nothing wrong with tank controls. Most of the awkwardness is alleviated with a 180° quick turn button. You could easily improve on it by having more degrees of aiming with analog controls rather than up-neutral-down aiming. Maybe even add moving while aiming or possibly FPS view like MGS2. Even add a laser sight like RE4 and the ability to shoot limbs would be fucking kino as shit.
>It was never a deliberate design decision
Yes it was. RE1 was going to be first person originally.
This would be great 20 years ago.
Holy fuck, this. It reminds me of Dark Places Quake, but even worse because of intense
lighting. I hate the high texture resolution/poly environments with low texture resolution/poly enemies too.
Hedon.
>The first concepts of Shelly were drawn in 1997, and had a heavy emphasis on sexualization, which was not uncomon the mid-nineties, although a bit embarrasing looking back with 2018 glasses
They literally edited the cucked original text due to backlash
Project Warlock
I'm physically unable to play Amid Evil for extended periods of time because the art style makes my eyes dry out. I don't mind unfiltered textures, but unfiltered high-resolution textures at long distances with no mipmapping is a problem because of the sheer amount of visual noise that tires out the eyes. Thankfully I found that the blur Temporal Anti-Aliasing applies to the game remedies this issue.
__Overload__ > Dusk > Amid Evil > Project Warlock > Hedon
>This was still the late '90s, with an over-the-top emphasis on sexualization (How far we've come!).
>How far we've come
Oh no no no no!
nobody gives a fuck you defective user
Trenchbroom is all laughs and games until you fuck around with triggers and func_train shit.
Some user named Overload but keep in mind that's a Descent clone. Hope you like 6dof.
And hopefully a release date
Explain why she wants the pics
Oh yes yes yes yes!
i'm just glad they didn't gave her a dyke haircut
no excuse not to try the overload demo
also I can post mega links for descent 1 and 2
It's so sad that having a sexuality as a male is looked down on now. It sucks that as the years go on, the places to find casually sexy things is shrinking - and enforcing the idea that the only place anything should be sexy is in porn. That and those garbage visual novels. It is unfortunate that if things were to change back to acknowledging/expressing your sexuality is fine in media, it will not be soon enough because I will either not be playing games anymore or dead.
Doesn't matter what the case is, for now they're getting sued and they've got to defend themselves.
Dusk and Amid Evil were both good
There is plenty options for you if you want a 90s plastic surgery bimbo look on cunts. But from everyone else with a functioning dick on this and any other site, fuck off.
>angry that a man wants something casually sexy in a game
Chill out, soiboi.
you're just speaking for yourself faggot
SEETHING
If you think any of the band members were remotely involved in the decision of suing Ion Maiden, you're probably wrong. I'm betting my shit none of them would be bothered by the game and that it's just their legal department sperging out because they saw a hole to dive in.
Nailed it. I still like the game though but fuck it's ugly to look at. Even the font used is like it's designed to piss me off.
They have been sued by Beckett for plagiarizing one of their song (Life's Shadows) both lyrically (some of Becket's lyrics are found on Hallowed Be Thy Name) and musically (The Nomad instrumental is awfully simar to Life's shadows). That said, it stupid because it wasn't some kind of secret. Some of Maiden's band members are/were friends with a guy from Becket and everyone was okay with both Hallowed and The Nomad stuffs. Maiden even acknowledged Beckett as inspiration. It's only several years later than an ex-member of Beckett (who was in the credit list of Life's shadows) came back and decided to sue Maiden because they only asked permission to the other Beckett's guy and not to him, arguing he still had rights on the song.
I mean, he's probably right but it still stupid.
No, it was a necessary compromise. They wanted to make the game in first person but PS1 full 3d looks like ass so they had to go with pre-rendered backgrounds, which necessitates static cameras, which necessitates tank controls. It's not a free choice. It was the only choice. An unavoidable compromise.
I don't give a shit that Shelly doesn't look like the original bimbo concept. I think her current design is boring and she looked much more interesting in Bombshell. Also a normal woman wouldn't be as strong as Duke nukem, but a cyborg would be.
Looks like Mortal Kombat side character, manfaced and uninspiring, bimbo protagonist would actually feel fresh in ((current year))
I know there's only a few levels currently in the game but thus far how does it stack up with the other Build games?
What's up with all these revivals of 1st and 2nd generation FPS? Especially as the former had been dead since the 90s, and the latter was still around, but extremely rare.
What's a 2nd generation FPS?
Not him but I would assume Quake.
>Ion Maiden update AND EDF5 PC release on July 11th
2nd generation is probably: "Has level architecture that can be built in three dimensions but there is no true 3d graphics renderer and so two rooms can't be rendered on top of one another". Doom and Build Engine games are that. Wolfenstein 3d is 1st gen because there are no elevation changes whatsoever.
It's like this:
1st gen: Doom clones, sprite-based, 2.5D
2nd gen: Quake/Half-Life, full 3D, but overall same gameplay as previous
3rd gen: military shooters, Halo/COD/Battlefield, regenerating health, 2-weapon limit, cover-based gameplay
4th gen: open world, RPG elements, battle royale shit, character classes
weaponized explosive braps
Damn 2nd gen really was the best, and a little bit of 3rd gen was good too.
Just found out those were clay sculptures, I thought that was pretty cool
I also can't wait for ss_7de06ed1213d77888c8039.jpg!
Can't wait for retards to learn what image search is
i did and all i get are pictures of boomers
Just used that €5 Steam coupon and pre-ordered, so it's almost like it was on sale. Thanks for reminding me. Now let's see what this "early access campaign" is about.
You didn't, both yandex and google give you the answer as the first result, stop lying faggot
You are very clearly lying to try and get spoonfed.
shit taste
jesus christ you guys are dumb
Make sure to go to 7/11 on 7/11 to get a free slushie
Just got the game and am playing through the preview campaign. Just got into the building that needed a blue keycard in the first level and for some reason the door marked "exit" isn't opening. I watched a playthrough on YT and it opened for them after they killed some soldiers but it didn't for me. Am I missing something or is my game bugged?
Absolutely based negress but she probably did it for a stunt to get attention and facebook likes like any woman would do
>blacking any revealing detail
I don't know who you are but I love you.
I really miss this level of humorous posting for one's own amusement that used to be standard on this site from 2004-2007
>which necessitates static cameras, which necessitates tank controls.
Oh my nigga you retarded.
Is this a jojo reference?
>that fag (probably IM dev) who was on here trying to defend Early Access with "it's just like a demo!"
are you here
For me personally:
Blood > Duke 3D >= Ion Maiden demo > Shadow Warrior > Redneck Rampage
I've had a blast with the demo and my fingers are crossed that the rest of the game is just as fun. My biggest fear is that the rest of the game will take a dive into mediocrity
You just revealed your own retardation by attempting to dispute an objective fact. Only static camera is compatible with pre-rendered 3d backgrounds and only tank controls are compatible with static camera angles. You can't move or pan the camera when a background is an image and any directional controls create contextual conflict. You cannot disagree. You can only accept it or be retarded.
Do I have to buy the game to play the demo?
Also is still basically just using the old build engine?
>Only static camera is compatible with pre-rendered 3d backgrounds
Didn't say otherwise.
>and only tank controls are compatible with static camera angles.
Oh nigga you retarded
>3rd gen: military shooters, Halo/COD/Battlefield, regenerating health, 2-weapon limit, cover-based gameplay
this was the exact moment everything went to shit and became anti-fun
The Playstation didn't come with a mouse. You can't have point & click controls in a PS1 game.
yes
yes but it's updated (it's a fork of eduke)
Post screenshot of the room/area you are stuck
I don't know who that faggot is, but I think they made a big mistake making it payable early acess.
EXTREMELY retarded move from a marketing point of view.
In the spirit of yesteryear they should have released this for free as a shareware version/demo like Apogee pioneered back in the days.
That way many more people would have downloaded the game. Their current approach only got them the most hardcore of boomers who crave these old fps games.
I personally pirated the early access demo because FUCK YOU and loved every minute of it. I will definitely buy the game day one once it comes out but this just further proves their retarded decision.
I remember when the Deus Ex Mankind Divided press demo leaked like a half year before the release of the game and everyone went bonkers on the internet because of how surprisingly good it was.
I just reloaded the save and it fixed it but thanks for being willing to help user appreciate it
enjoy the rest of the game
This comes out tomorrow, right?
About 5 years ago Epic changed the way licensing worked for Unreal Engine and their competitors one-by-one began to follow suit, this gave indie devs affordable access to professional quality 3D engine tech and tools, we're now starting to seeing the fruits of their labour.
>Secrets: 5/33
FUCK YOUR OBSCURE BULLSHIT AND FUCK SECRET HUNTING
>these cheap ass After Effects FX splattered over such a old game
Horrible.
there is even a secret room not tagged as a secret area too
protip: you can push chairs and stand on them
I can't wait for the Dopefish secret.
Just played the first level of the preview and so far it seems pretty damn good. Level design seems to be all Duke but the combat seems to take after Blood. The basic enemies even look a bit like cultists. Also the way the ball bombs are thrown works the same way as throwing dynamite did in Blood. I love that you can avoid so much damage by keeping up your speed. I think rewarding players for always being on the move as opposed to ducking behind cover is the way forward for FPS. As much as I love Doom and Duke those games rewarded you for playing cowardly. Ducking in and out of cover constantly was the most effective way to play those games unless you were going for fast times or something. Ion and Blood reward you for playing aggressively by making enemies less accurate when you are moving and also by having enemies drop supplies like health and armor. So far the main thing I'm worried about is the enemy design. In Blood the enemy composition of a room could completely change how you approach it as machine gun cultists and shotgunners were both at their maximum effectiveness at completely different ranges. Whereas even though there are like 3-4 types of soldiers right now they aren't really more or less effective in different circumstances like the cultists in Blood were. They can all be thwarted by simply circle-strafing and jumping around. Also I hope they add some more animations to the enemies later on. You can blast someone in the chest with the shotgun and there is no audio or visual cue that you hit them. They just stand there completely still as if nothing happened.
tl;dr
Anyone that needs to show their kind deed on social media absolutely does it for attention.
>Doom and Duke those games rewarded you for playing cowardly.
Doom is about spatial awareness and positioning
Duke is a moot point everything but the battlelord can be easily dodged, the enemies in ion maiden function more or less like the ones in duke (locking on then firing)
>Blood reward you for playing aggressively by making enemies less accurate when you are moving
the zombies keep you moving but it's generally the opposite as the cultists are straight up hitscan that do not give you a chance to dodge
what the fuck is taking so long?
Pretty much agree with your entire post.
The balancing in the demo is still wonky and amateurish and lags behind the greats (Blood, Duke 3D). If they actually concentrated on the enemy variety and placement in an area this game could become an instant classic.
Let's hope that if the devs don't fix the issues at least the game will attract enough people that the mod community will.
This. You will never ever see such blatant attention whoring from altruistic good samaritans because they don't do it for the likes or fame, on the contrary these people usually want to remain unknown.
Iron Maiden is suing their asses. What a faggot irrelevant band.
hehehe
What a mess
Apparently the game is finished. Rumor has it that the launch trailer is hitting in three days and we will have a release date or even the game itself on the 11th.
>Apparently the game is finished
source?
twatter cancer. I refuse to post it here.
>The basic enemies even look a bit like cultists
They are WH40K tech priest ripoffs
>Doom and Duke those games rewarded you for playing cowardly. Ducking in and out of cover constantly was the most effective way to play those games
The only time you need cover in Doom is when the level designers were dicks and placed a bunch of chaingunners and or shotgunners together.
>the zombies keep you moving but it's generally the opposite as the cultists are straight up hitscan that do not give you a chance to dodge
You are playing Blood wrong. It is the EXACT opposite with cultists. Cultists keep you moving and engaged for a few different reasons.
>being on the move and jumping reduces their accuracy
>crouching also reduces their accuracy
>firing at them will stun them so they cannot shoot back at you
>they have to take the time to turn around to face you so if you jump behind them you can take out a few of them before they even have a chance to turn around if you have good aim
I know for a fact you can avoid the vast majority of damage that hitscanners in Blood output because I have cleared entire rooms full of them without taking any damage. Its hard and you really need to master movement, enemy prioritization and positioning but it is possible and it is satisfying as hell to pull off.
Its not about needing to, its about how the most effective way to play Doom is by constantly taking cover. If you enter a room full of enemies, you can almost always just run back to the door you came from and fire at the enemies inside the room from the saftey of the doorway. There is no extrinsic reward for running into a room full of enemies guns blazing, whereas in Blood and Ion there are in-game reasons to play as aggressively as possible.
>There is no extrinsic reward for running into a room full of enemies guns blazing, whereas in Blood and Ion there are in-game reasons to play as aggressively as possible.
Not really. You can door snipe in every FPS that has aggressive enough AI, but in Blood you'll get fucked up by hitscanners if you play aggressively without knowing how the AI works. Door sniping in blood is exactly what a new player will likely do and get the same rewards from enemies by doing so.
You don't need cover but it's extremely useful. All hitscanners have a short telegraph and the only way to 100% dodge their fire is to take cover. Saying that you don't need cover in Doom implies that you are just tanking all of the hitscanner damage that hits, and it will hit just by sheer probability.
That's why I said you only need cover when there's a surplus of hitscanners or approximately one chaingunner.
most of what you listed is your placebo effect and not how it works
>they have to take the time to turn around
they don't have a turning arc they just randomly will wander around kinda like zombiemen do
Technically stuning, weakest setting, I like its weapons and gunplay more and it lacks some features like an inventory or working mirrors.
Personally, in the Holy Trinity of Build games I'd put it instead of Shadow Warrior.
In other words: most of the time in almost every map. It's so prevalent that I'd flip the statement around and say that the only time you don't need cover is when there just happens to be no hitscanners.
I wish Redneck Rampage had better gameplay and level design. The setting is awesome and all of the levels were made aesthetically cool, the functional design of the levels just sucks.
Years of bitching in internet about how much we want a retroFPS. If anything, I expected these kind of games to release like 3 years ago, not now.
Secret hunting is an alternative game mode wich actually needs some brains. Don't feel bad if you are not used to it.
That's already in the demo and is quite easy to find, considering how obscure it uses to be.
Discord. They are testing it and already finished the VA (John St. Jon is in, btw)
>Door sniping in blood is exactly what a new player will likely do and get the same rewards from enemies by doing so.
Except for the fact that enemies will sometimes drop health when killed? If you fuck up and get hit by an explosive at the door youre camping at you are just fucked. If you fuck up while jumping around enemies you have a chance to recover health.
>but in Blood you'll get fucked up by hitscanners if you play aggressively without knowing how the AI works
So you get fucked up if you don't know how to play the game? Okay? If you don't know that Blood wants you to play aggressively after the akimbo traincar section I really just think you aren't paying enough attention.
>they don't have a turning arc they just randomly will wander around kinda like zombiemen do
I call bullshit but even if thats true the fact that you can abuse it is still a good thing. Either way it rewards good positioning and quick thinking.
Is that a fucking reskinned surf map from Counter-Strike? The level designer probably listened to /vr/'s retro FPS threads exclusively and thought that the only way to have abstract level design is for it to not resemble any sort of physical object, construct or architecture whatsoever. Why even have those fancy specular effects on the material if so much of your focus is on pure gameplay that literally nothing looks like anything?
Post yfw you was waiting for the release since 2016
Redneck rampage has good levels
Some of the levels are good, others are just downright annoying. I think I still have not figured out how exactly how to finish the water treatment plant level, the one before the sewer level. Almost every level in the game is based on finding some switch or a key that is unreasonably difficult to find and the fact that the levels were made to look like real-world places makes the abstract and often insane placement of things even more bizarre. I mean goddamn, you need to activate an elevator inside a doghouse by clicking the air while sitting inside to get to a sewer pipe that has the key to a junkyard. That is 100% bullshit and almost every level is like that. You know how in Doom, "secrets" are essential to players who want to survive on harder difficulties? Well, in Redneck Rampage those secrets are the level design.
The preview campaign was so fucking good. I've already played 6 hours of the game somehow. I love it.
July 11th can't come soon enough, I hope the games release date isn't too far off. Also excited to know what they renamed the game to.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover this by myself when playing. Made me crack a smile.
I love the build engine, man. It's so comfy.
No.
>Gifting expensive shit to a random hebe and asking for pics
Something is off
Couple of "levels" in the preview campaign rival the very best of Duke and Blood, for sure. At least in my opinion.
The only kind of downside to the game is the protagonist, but it is a preview campaign so you really have no proper context for it. I hope you get a better feel for her in the final game. It's not that she's poorly written, I mean compared to Blood and Duke, it's pretty much the same exact thing again. I just wish that with the setting and the story of the game, there was at least a hint of sincerity to it, so we at least care a little about her and the world itself.
i love how phantasy star is the videogame equivalent of a refreshing gas station on a road trip.
I wouldn't get my hopes up too much in that regard. But then again I haven't really been following the development.
I'm certainly not going to complain about the lack of a story in a build engine game. But personally would have liked a little something. Duke worked because he's a product of the time, Caleb is alright, he's got a good VA and is fun, but eh. It'd be fun with some more meat to the story and characters.
