Alright Yea Forums, can we talk about how this game was shit?
Now that I've got your attention can we talk about how this game was great. That last case, what a game changer!

DD was better
Why did they feel the need to add shitty anime cutscenes in the new games?
I can't remember anything about duel destinies and right now I've played every game in the series. It had a lot of Athena, but her inclusion made the core cast look like sonic heroes. What made it better in your eyes?
I'm on the great ace attorney ENG fan patch at the moment. Great presentation so far, really liking the flashy animations used for deductions and the juries closing statements. The last case I completed was the 3rd with the carriage and I'm not sure how I feel on a case intentionally ending quick in order to serve narrative purposes.
Glad to hear this. I'm currently on dual destinies, just finishing the case with the naruto mayor dude. Not the series' finest case by any stretch. Can't wait to get to spirit of justice as the general consensus seems to be that it's a much better game.
the last case made me sweat bullets
>Have to fight Wright in court
It's too bad he wasn't at full power because he didn't believe in his client.
that case made me drop the game
I got into these games after the trilogy came out on 3DS. I was instantly hooked and played through 1-3 in like 2 weeks, then I started AJ and more or less dropped it around the second case. I didn't hate it or even plan to outright stop playing it, but it's been at least a year or two now and I've just never felt the need to go back to it. Can anyone relate?
I hope the next game's rival prosecutor isn't a lame Edgeworth retread like the past two.
Eh, it was alright.
>First case is alright for a tutorial case.
>2nd case was good-ish, I really don’t like Trucy so I probably underrate it here.
>3rd case was excellent, with some really good twists to go through.
>4rd felt like it was made to piss off translators, but suprisingly it still works and Simon is 5/5. My only complaint is that it should be bigger.
>5th tried the best it could to feel epic, but DESU I feel that it’s one of the worse final cases in the series. The first part drags on, and while the 2nd part has some really shocking twists, the actual courtroom battle just isn’t that exciting as it usually is in finales.
Honestly, my biggest complaint is that the prosecutor was shit. Yeah, I know he had story reasons for being like how he was, but it really isn’t that interesting to hear him prattle about ROTTEN ATTORNEYS and Khurainese hell again and again. It was repetitive, and he felt just as pissy as Franzizka was in JfA.
Edgeworth is the chief now which is why we don't get scumbag prosecutors anymore.
>more Apollo
>more spiritual mumbo-jumbo
It's like they actually intended to collect all the shit aspects of the series in one.
I really disliked what they did to Edgeworth, he's even more of a fujobait character now. His Objection also sounded really off.
The best thing about SoJ is Apollo actually being the main character for once.
Finished the first case of this and dropped it for AAI2, no regrets.
Does it get better or is it simple and dull all the way through?
Unironically a better game about Apollo than Apollo Justice itself was.
No.
Yes.
I'll agree it was a good game, but boy does it piss me off.
>3 whole cases to rub in how awful of a country Khurain is
>even the supposedly good people like the priest, his wife and the former queen are massive assholes
>even outside of the country, you have to deal with their prosecutor being an insufferable cunt fulltime
>after learning the country killed both his biological and his adoptive dad, Apollo decides it's his duty to fix this shithole and gets written out of the series
He shows up in SoJ for like 5 seconds to make one joke about the steel samurai. I would have preferred a lack of fan service now in order to hype up appearances later.
I hear he's in a DLC case in one of these games anyhow but I don't know how to put them on a hacked 3ds
>and gets written out of the series
One can only hope.
fuck no
My favorite game, on par with trials and tribulations.
Can we all at least agree that Sadman is the worst prosecutor?
Based
>it gets good in the last case
So glad I don't follow this series anymore. Everything past the OG trilogy was trash.
I forgot what his special ability was even supposed to be.
I don't think he was too bad. His arc was over very quickly and didn't have much build up. I can't think of a prosecutor worse than him off the top of my head though.
I doesn't "get good" at the last case, the rest of the cases are all fine but the last case is exceptionally great.
He tells you to kill yourself.
Edgeworth 2 had such good cases. I think it's the only game in the series in which I really liked every case.
Best first case in the series, too.
He’s in the extra case of SoJ, but that case is really shitty all around. Having adult Maya who still acts like a kid as assistant is just grating experience, Edgeworth just kind of ”is there” without anything interesting happening, and the whole mystery behind the case is stupid and boring. It’s very much on the list of worst cases in series, barely ranking above shit like Turnabout Big Top.
Forced myself to play AAI1 and the first case of AAI2. Hated pretty much all of it, so never played any further. People kept saying how AAI2 is a massive improvement, but the first case was incredibly long and slow, with you going around 3 screens and debating the same 3 people over and over and over and over and over and over.
Wasn't he in DD?
t.ADHD
I had the hardest time getting through AJ too. Turns out that the first case was actually the best case of that game in the end which did nothing to help the other cases.
DD worst game in the series.
>Everything past the OG trilogy was trash.
Well I kinda agree. I liked some parts of Dual Destinies but overall it wasn't very good. Spirit of Justice was a bit better and it had some good moments. But neither game can really capture the magic of the original 3. And it's not just nostalgia either because I played the original 3 before SoJ came out and I loved them to death.
I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's the 3-D graphics or the voice acting or the new orchestra soundtrack but the new games are just lacking that magical something that made the originals so dramatic.
Naw, the first case in aai2 has new revelation every other minute.
It's the best game in the series.
Why is the new game taking so long?
I really enjoyed Spirit of Justice, much better than DD. I wish it had more Maya though. I'm currently playing DGS on Case 4 and it's great.
Unironically agreed
I like DD a lot but nah
I don't hate Athena like some people do though and wish she'd had another case in 6
Pretty much the same opinion. 2nd case was great but also way too short. Should've been 2 days.
Third case was easily the best, fifth indeed falls a bit short for the reasons you said.
Overall I prefer Dual Destinies, even if it has gutted investigations, I just like its cases better.
>a game changer
>when it was a copypasta of the conflict in the Fey, especially between Misty and Morgan
The best cases were the ones unrelated to the main plot, so 6-2 and 6-4
>I'm currently playing DGS on Case 4 and it's great.
That's exactly where I am at the moment. I thought case 2 and 3 had flimsy conclusions, but I guess the flimsy conclusion of case 3 was supposed to make you feel confused.
The first case of AAI2 is one of the better 1st cases in the whole series, maybe barring AJ's first case.
AAI2 TT and SOJ are the trifecta of the best games in the series. Each of them probably only has one Mediocre case while the rest of them are pretty great.
Switch SOJ with DD and that's my top 3.
Unironically disagreed.
Rayfa is the best girl in the series.
When I first played SoJ I enjoyed it, but looking back it wasn't that great
It had the potential to be pretty good but had a couple shortcomings
>Nahyuta is a uninteresting character and rival
>jumping back between Khura'in and Japanifornia to do some unconnected cases interferes the continuous story the game wants to tell while in Khura'in
>Maya on the box and promotional trailers and opening cutscene ruins the big surprise that she returns, not only is this one of the selling points of SoJ, but she is barely in it and appears about only halfway anyways
>Case 5's sudden change to the game being about Pheonix to instead Apollo in the final case as if it wraps up his character arc, which is all thrown at you at the last case, is done in a unsatisfying way
SoJ does have good things going for it, a lot of the cases were good for the most part with one or two mediocre ones, but none particularity bad
I think it's an okay addition to the series but could've been handled a lot better
How's Maya return is a surprise? To whom?
What they did ruin though is their one and only chance and making her a likeable mature character. Instead she's still a joke of a character and then backpedaled on her visual redesign too, so she even looks almost identical to her old self.
unf
I don't know what you guys see in DD.
Shit first case with the bomber guy.
2nd case has a lot of annoying characters and the case is mostly boring.
The academy stuff had lots of ups and downs, mostly downs though.
I don't even remember the fourth case. Or is the fourth the last one one the space station thing? I don't remember it being very good and there are a lot of leap of logic arguments regarding everything the phantom did. I wasn't even sure I wanted to play SOJ since DD felt like crap too me.
I only did because DD had a great DLC case, literally wiped off that salty ass shit taste the main game gave me.
I may be one of the few people here who prefers Dual Destinies to SoJ. I loved how wacky DD got, and the twist at the end actually worked really well.
Apollo is actually works so much better in DD compared to his game. He's not really a main-character type, but as a secondary he works really well, especially with Phoenix as the main. Athena is also really good in this context because she's inexperienced, but moreso than Apollo, so their dynamic becomes a bit more interesting because of that.
As for Blackquill, when I first saw the game, I thought he was going to be the worst fucking prosecutor yet, but he turns out to be a really fascinating character and one of the best prosecutors in the entire series.
Yeah DD didn't have the best cases overall, but I really appreciated the characters and their dynamics, and the highs it has are pretty damn high.
Haven't played this game yet, currently on Trial 3 of Aviary Attorney tho!
I liked everything you disliked, is all. I also mostly disliked things that people liked about SOJ.
first post, worst post
This series needs to stop jerking off the old characters and focus on making the new ones up to their standard instead. I know retards will always be like "b-but MUH MAYA MUH EDGEWORTH ABLOO BLOO BLOO" but they should just be ignored.
Fuck all the other old characters, I just want Gumshoe.
>implying Gumshoe isn't homeless because he couldn't pay his rent
>implying Gumshoe isn't dead
I want to wipe my memory and play aai2 again bros...
AA news when.... is it over?
Yes. Series is dead.
>All these people jerking off AAI2
ITT People who hate good pacing.
>Being this contrarian
He sealed powers by throwing his beads at the attorney, he only did it to Phoenix and Apollo.
>bad pacing
first case:
tutorial
introduction of Edgeworth mindgames
de killer
de killer is not the killer
de killers plane take over
fake assassination
gun switch
set up for a big mystery
Apollo Justice and AAI1 were better than DD. Literally the worst game in the series.
I personally enjoyed it but I'm a fan of both Phoenix Wright and Layton.
Is my wife maya in the game? If yes then it's great. If not, what the fuck are you doing?
