Always found it to be common sense that’s the correct one. Not only do the devs say it’s the “normal outcome” but it takes place in a series of Aerith-focused events, was promised beforehand, it’s more in character for her to to push Cloud to be less of a stiff (and she liked the golden saucer), and the content of the convo is more interesting and unique in what it communicates.
Tifa’s is just her not admitting her feelings. Which we know later on in disc 2 and is even in the manual... and is a letdown.
Damn I got DESTROYED by FACTS and LOGIC. Aerith seems to be the better girl in the remake. Godspeed

Square has noted MULTIPLE times that the tragedy was SET UP but in HINDSIGHT, they had SOMETHING MAGICAL with CLOUD and AERITH together, which the last TWENTY YEARS have been BUILDING INTO. Everyone KNOWS Clerith dies in FF7R, so they'll CHANGE IT around for it to be SOMEONE ELSE this time.
They do really like Cloud and Aerith from what I’ve seen. Where have they noted it right off the top of your head? I’m aware of KH, some exhibit of romances, and putting it in a lot of branded and spinoff games.

Every single time FF7's characters are mentioned, CLOUD and AERITH are always NEXT to each OTHER or POSITIONED. Everything from art exhibits to even DRINKS. Tifa is VERY rarely seen and it's almost NEVER in relation to Cloud.
The compendium does say they still love each other even if they can’t physically be together. It gives Tifa more development with Cloud but sometimes I think in the wrong ways.
KH comes up because Nomura says it does hold insight into Cloud and Aerith from the original. It’s sort of fanservice-y

Yes Aerith and cloud will always be true love, like rose and jack from titanic but as years pass maybe cloud will fuck Tifa and she will know she is only there knowing that he’s heart will never truly be hers, and if they ever have children they will be awed at the woman that their dad was in love with.

Maybe 7 is like that thing where the Japanese repair broken pottery with gold or whatever. As weird as latter games might seem, like Kingdom Hearts, or The Last Remanent, I', progressively notice that this is the same company, that has grown up from a sweet little boy, to some man slut that takes it in the pooper from corporate shenanigans and Disney.
