gonna be honest, I don't even remember their names and it's been like 3 minutes since the lobby was disbanded. We had 4 Ripper Roos at once for Roo's Tubes. We all went Oxide in Hovercraft for Oxide station: I nailed 2nd place with a beaker in the turbo dropdown to force him to redo a part of the track and he still hauled ass to get 2nd place. We had a wave of Dingodiles each with a unique legendary skin to their name. It was great how we formed camaraderie without speaking a single word to one another.
If the host disconnects, everyone gets booted immediately to the online menu. If the host does this during a race, you'll get a notification about everyone disconnecting from you and they'll be replaced with AI players until you reach the finish line. I've found that when this happens the podium results are blatantly wrong and of course you get booted back to the online menu afterwards. Pretty funny if you wreck someone so bad that they ruin the lobby but at the same time they're a piss-ant ruining 7 other people's fun because they are a big fucking baby.

The second Super Turbo Pad (in the bazaar after that little jump on the right) gives a USF that's faster than the first Super Turbo Pad. The difference between the two is like 25-35 seconds in time trial.

Just keeping USF all the way through. USF speed is identical for all characters so ironically handling characters do pretty well on USF heavy tracks. Isabella’s an all-rounder so she has the second highest handling stat of all the classes. I’ve DNF’d a couple different lobbies on Twilight Tour with both all-rounder and handling characters after learning the correct path and drifts to maintaining it for a full lap, that guy was probably the same or might even have been me if this was 12 hours ago.

I've been trying to get better at maintaining the USF, but some of its mechanics are lost on me. Like sometime I'm going regular blue flame boost pad fast, and sometimes I'll pull off a series of jumps or something that has me going extra double fucking blue flame fast with a side of fries. Then there's the big jumps where they give you USF, and it fizzles before you even hit the ground. Do I need to stack skid boosts before the pad?

Do 3 perfect boosts before those USF jumps like at Cortex Castle or Polar Pass. That way you keep it upon landing. Perfect boosts are the only way to keep it going as well since premature boosts don't fill your reserves.

Give it a week and you can be on that same level. It's surprisingly easy to get a hang of the ultra boosts, once you know the tracks and have a feel for the drifting. Just takes some practice

Fyi start a powerslide before turbo pad jumps and do perfects in the air
Also biggest rookie mistake is actually jumping off jumps if you have speed already
Jumping slows you down. Like on mystery caves you dont jump of the turtles, you powerslide off them and really only on the one that is flat not upwards
Then slide off other jumps.
The only time jumping of a usf or sf pad is good is if you dont have enough reserves due to item fuckery so the jump will give you a little bit of extra time

they've been grinding time trials for so long they forgot how to deal with items

Possibly someone who did time trials as a different class and immediately took digital tropy online to flex without being used to the shit handling, so they job every important turn and jump

Remember you can still continue your drift in the air and keep boosting to fill up your reserves.
Doing time trials and getting map knowledge always helps on getting the 3x perfect boosts

Time Trials don't prepare you for getting absolutely buttfucked by a constant barrage of every item in existence. It doesn't help people getting constant Blue Orbs and Clocks, sometimes within the first 10 seconds of the race, where it's typically decided who's going to win.

As someone who doesn't play team based, online competitive games often is there any reason the team battle modes don't set it so that the player always sees the same standard ally/enemy color?

I don't think it would hurt anything if it were just set so that you alway see your allies as blue, and your enemy as red., regardless of how they see themselves on their own screen, that way I'd never have to take a second to remember which color I'm supposed to be shooting at.
I don't think I had this problem in Splatoon, but in that game the color of your teams is omnipresent in every aspect of the game, from your ammo to the very battlefield itself, so it wasn't an issue.

Switch has worse performance, but is less prone to server issues so far

fortunately it has two USF pads, so you have 2 chances, you should use the first one to get an advantage with the shortcut, try to get to the tubes section USF ASAP and avoid the lasers and you should beat him

OneyPlays CTR is bad because he doesn't have DingDong and Julian to bounce off of and to pay attention to what the game is trying to tell/teach him. I know that if DD was there, he'd definitely be telling Chris to try drifting more often to maintain his speed.

That seems to be pretty constant to be honest, so maybe it really just is bad netcode. Whenever I get hit by a mask, the guy comes driving past like a second later

The game has a stellar amount of content for a single-player to digest and online is online.
I recommend doing the time trials before jumping into online because you will get buttfucked by people that know how to drive if you aren't ready, beating N.Tropy's times will teach you how to excel and Oxide's times will make sure that you know your stuff.

if you can beat Tropy in this tack, you can take care of oxide as well, this is one of those tracks where N.Tropy -> Oxide doesn't require a high skill growth

Time Trials is safe. Tropy has moved onto other things, like crashing your game randomly at the end of a race, but it doesn't break anything or lose your save, just fucking crash's the game

Nah I did CTR first, struggled with Oxide Station, went on to CNK tracks, then went back to Oxide Station after I got better at USF

I don't blame him on stopping, since you have to put in a lot of hours to git gud, otherwise you're gonna have your shit pushed in.
