Emerald is the best because it's the only pokemon game that meaks you feel as if you're actually exploring a world of pokemon

Pokemon like Baltoy build up a strange and ancient history
Pokemon like Solrock and Lunatone build up the aspect that we might not be alone in the universe and Deoxy's proves it
Pokemon like Absol and Castform bring out the ancient beliefs of pokemon as gods and the lore about them is incredibly intresting
And searching the lost oceans to find the legendary Regi's is something that would peak the interest of any wannabe explorer

No other pokemon game has that feel

His point wasn't that you just explore a region though, it's that you're actually exploring something. For example, in Alola you're really just touristing with the constant boat rides and meet ups with your friends and short routes that just lead to the same town.
It had one of the most comfy towns up north with the fairy gym. But yeah, pretty forgettable.

I would disagree, sure it’s a smaller region, but the towns, gyms, and lore of the region are all really fun and memorable. By itself it would be much shorter than the average Pokémon game, but it’d still be one of my favorites
