Yes Acceleration is faster than Balanced. I was trying to beat Oxide on Blizzard Bluff yesterday with a Balanced character, and just couldn't do it. Switched to Acceleration since that's what Oxide is, and I beat him with ease. All in all I think it's a bit dumb that the speed differences exist even when you're boosting

Speed basically scales inversely with handling. The easier your character is to play the less effective they are. It makes sense, you're always boosting if you play well.

You get, like, 20 coins for an offline race, and over 400 for putting up with the crap online, where you'll get stunlocked by items for 20+ seconds while the first place gets hit by 0 for the entirety of the race, and can keep building distance for the whole time without a single care in the world.
It's honestly just fucked, it feels broken.

If all the players do this, does it go any faster? I’ve never seen it NOT take the full time for an opener before bringing up user names and racing lights.

The orb is borderline worthless for how slow it is, and because first place can get shields the clock more often than not just extends their lead.

even if homing missiles followed the track like red shells do, CTR's systems are still immeasurably better because you can have at-most 1 item to defend yourself with and you need to place it properly in order to actually block the incoming attack. Meanwhile in mario kart you can literally just drag any item you want behind your kart for 99% guarantee that you won't get fucked on top of being able to hold yet another item as backup.
really the problem is that first place is untouched so they are constantly being showered with juiced up powerups which make the lives of 2nd and 3rd much more of a pain to even try to keep up and allows them to put up the power shield to block even clocks for getting them and thus widening their lead.
The warp orbs are also far too slow to even come close to touching them and usually they wind up causing collateral to drivers that are in between.
The only consistent way to fuck over first place is to ruin their line by placing traps where they'd be driving on the next lap, but there isn't even a guarantee that it'll be there by the time they drive through again because places 4th-8th are content to drive directly into your bullshit instead of creating a minefield for 1st place to have to weave through.

Lads, what would you say if some kind of outer challenges were added? These are purely, just to give you incentive to always want to play. For example, what if they added an array of challenges, for each class? Something stupid like

Win a race with Tawna, 5000 times.
Win a race with Crash 5000 times.

I realize that is insane, but when you add small things like this, it always gives you an incentive to continue online, and to keep playing. You always feel like you're DOING something and making progress. Maybe even add a reward, special skin for that said player. There are 1000s of little challenges they could add to keep you going. Could even go stupid stupid

Just things that could add to the game, the prize system is good, and waiting to get coins, but the truth is once you've got your favourite set up and load out, you're just playing to play. [which is fine] but there is potential to turn it into a full blown game here.

Even go crazy, add a level system with a prestige system. I know this sounds dirty at first, but I don't think people realize just how much this adds to these multiplayer games.

I had an idea of something like we all get our own "license" that people can click on in the menu, to add a bit of interactivity, which says all your wins, losses, characters, favourites etc etc etc. Just something to personalize your own little experience. Instead of just being a player.

it's as bad as you expect user. You have to learn the perfect route for all the time boxes as most of the levels require the -10 second time bonus from getting all the boxes. That being said you only have to do the 18 adventure levels instead of all the game's levels like the ghosts require

The platforming was the bread and butter for those games. While it was expanded upon in the sequels with other mechanics/characters/plot-points, I find 1 to be a little sterile, while the sequels spread themselves a little too thin without accommodating for it(see: Drill Platform turret section with no options to invert aim axis).
Shame that 2 and especially 3 only have so much platforming

1 felt like an open world crash game and it was awesome for that

2's open world really felt uncessary and there was basically nothing going on in it other than scripted cars driving around for you to steal, and they didn't even control very well with the exception of the hover bikes which were my preferred method of getting around. The actual platforming stages were very well done but the hub was and still is to this day garbage that I only see get praised by blinded people that played it when they were kids.

3 perfected what 2 did. Just my opinion. I like all 3 mind you.

Yeah, the platforming segments in the later games were still great it's just bogged down by too many mechanics I didn't enjoy.

Traversing Haven City gets old FAST, and 3 cut down on the traveling back and forth making it much more palatable. One thing the sequels miss out on is exploring the precursors and ECO. Sure Dark Eco is a plot point in 2 and both Dark and Light are in 3, but what the fuck happened to the others? Lost potential there for game-play AND story.
If they ever remake those games there should be a power line system spreading across the city that you can grind across for a (hopefully load screen-free) fast travel system

Ok it's not BAD, but it lost a lot of the charm of the original. Stuff like character redesigns, voices, sound design, animations etc. feels either worse or unpolished. It's more like a series of nitpicks that, by themselves wouldn't ruin the experience, but all together make the remakes feel shabby and bootlegged.

And that's not even counting the MUSIC which is, without hyperbole, utterly BUTCHERED. Thank god you can play the original soundtrack or this whole game would be virtually unplayable.

This is why I will defend Vicarious Visions basically forever, because they basically succeeded in every place where TFB failed in making N. Sane Trilogy. Literally the only issues I have with NST are the sometimes wonky jumps and the iffy music, but still, NST did almost everything right, which makes it even sadder that it inspired Reignited and yet they fucked it up.

Vicarious Visions did a much shittier job than Toys for Bob in my opinion. At least Toys For Bob nearly fucking perfectly recreated the gameplay mechanics and feel of playing Spyro. The N.Sane trilogy was a rushed fucking mess, sliding and hitboxes are so fucking broken that 2 and 3 are nearly fucking unplayable, and that's not even touching on how much they fucked up the vehicle levels.

He's right. Reignited has the greatest animations in any of the "cartoony" looking video games. This is peak animation, compare it to say Mario games, or Ratchet and Clanks newest game. This dragon has more animation in his hand than the entirety of Sonic Forces kek

I dunno dude, I think pretty much all the boss themes were made way better in NST. The only songs I can think of that I like more in the original are The Eel Deal, Boulder Dash, Slippery Climb, and Turtle Woods.
