Yeah, I think it's a compromise because in PoR and RD houses and objects had hilarious size scaling. Sometimes you would have normal houses, sometimes they would be hilariously tiny children-sized homes, and sometimes you would have houses for giants. So even though it looks goofy in 3H, it's consistent. Some houses in RD are comically massive and look like wooden castles.

No, that's not true, the eye design I used is a generic one used in all sorts of genres. It's not something specific to moe anime at all.
The only reason I chose that style is precisely because it's generic and I didn't want to impose my own creative bias on it.
Also, K-on has a quite different eye style, at least in the anime, which is fairly distinctive. Edelgard with those eyes might look something like this, which would definitely be completely inappropriate.

Considering you can casually recruit many of the people from their countries like it's nothing, I think the school phase won't be so drastically different.
More like you'll be something akin to the head of the departement(being the House you chose) and you handle pretty much all about that specific section, but you can and probably will interact some with the other students, just like all three groups probably will interact in some way with the other teachers.

I imagine recruiting other house students isn't going to play out as many think it will in terms of post timeskip.

Admittedly, they aren't great, but its mostly a mix of not seeing the higher tier class animations, first game in which EVERY class can use EVERY weapon, and IntSys going through the usual growing pains in dealing with new technology. Remember, we aren't that far off from people just having no feet. They are a step back from Echoes fantastic combat animations, but it is not that bad.

What's really a problem is how some animations causes the models to just...pop into place. It's really jarring, especially with Byleth using the Sword of the Creator. That needs a patch, fast.
