Admit it faggots, you loved this game when it came out
Admit it faggots, you loved this game when it came out
Up until the ending happened
still do
still the best superhero game.
Insomniac didn't learn from a 8 years old game.
yes and I loved this one too
Why do the Arkham games have such easy and shitty combat systems? This challenge map for example. If I sucked in the first three rounds, it wouldn't even matter.
Even with the indicators turned off, you're still watching for the enemy animations and it's still super easy. (Unless you're an idiot or something.)
It'd be one thing if the story was actually good, but it's incredibly poorly written and relies on you knowing about the characters rather than actually making them likable (LOL JOKER JUST TOOK OUT BATMAN'S GIRLFRIEND I BET YOU CARE A LOT!!! Uhm, no. She was barely involved in the story.)
Brainlets tend to like shitty things, yeah.
I played it (and Knight) for the first time this year despite having played and enjoyed Asylum the year it came out. I liked it a lot. They aren't perfect games but they do a lot of interesting things. The stories get progressively shittier, though.
I still love it.
I feel like I need to give it another chance, but the pitiful boss fights and Arkham Knight reveal left a sour taste in my mouth.
A bad ending cannot ruin a good game, if a game has a terrible ending then it wasn't a good game in the first place
that actually is pretty funny
I still like it.
I was one of the few people who had a flawless experience on PC with this game at launch. I still refunded it and then bought the game and DLC for super cheap a year later lmao
The main thread through the game has a lot of its worst moments, game design and story both. I thought the side missions (including the Season of Infamy DLC ones) were the highlight of the game and managed to redeem it.
I thought it was okay. Even at the time, combat was kind of listless and for all the rogue's gallery they throw at you, none of the boss fights were good.
I'll fully admit I was fucking blown away by the graphics, but that's not an opinion that ages upwards.
Superman game when?
Much better than Asylum, loved it back then and still love it now.
Arkham Asylum was better
i sitll do
>tfw I still haven't played anything in this series
So avoid the Remastered shit at all costs, right? I should stick with either the last gen console versions/PC?
>boss fights were good
You didn't like the Mr. Freeze fight?
>that's not an opinion that ages upwards.
Maybe not, but it and Asylum both still look good.
> MJ and MM forced stealth INSTAKILL missions
> 2000s era collectibles
> Brainded enemies
> copy pasted side activities
> please complete this 13875834297523482 crime activity for the 4584908393843th time
> Spam web blossom to win, other powers are so fucking garbage
kys
Freeze is pretty much the only good one, the rest ranged from bad to awful (Ivy) or non-fights (Deadshot). I did kind of like Clayface but he felt really out of place being the final boss.
I liked Arkham Origins more. Fight me.
I still love it and I hate capeshit. Tbh I only like Batman because of its villains and how Gotham looks. Also it helps a lot that Rocksteady are devs that really pour love into these games, altho Knight lacked a lot of shit.
Where did I compliment spider-shit? Spider-Shit is a result of the Arkham games.
Arkham fans are literal fucking brainlets
Worse than Asylum but still good. Origins and Knight were garbage though.
It was a decent use of "actual stealth-based fight", but him just kind of marching around in a circle around clear signposted hazards made it feel more like checking off a shopping list than fighting a boss.
So still decent, I suppose.
It was solid, but i'm still waiting on my Batman Beyond game
I wish they'd do a Batman with Ninja Gaiden style of combat, fast movement and every enemy throwing themselves at you, I would like it also if they implemented the ability to use walls so you can jump and do a somersault from it for extra movement possibilities.
If you're going to try and hit something as good as Ninja Gaiden, I'd rather it not be a licensed game at all.
Along with red dead redemption, it's the kinda vidya that is good but not a contender for gotg or anything like that,
Would you be excited for this if it was announced Yea Forums?
>batman but for basedboys
nah
classic batman or fuck off
>basedboys
The Batman Beyond show is actually pretty good, though. It's probably my favorite DCAU show after BTAS itself.
Batman Beyond is literally the best Superhero series behind Teen Titans
I did, same with AA
Why hate it? Is that because of combat or what
I'm sure I would have fun playing it, but they should really move on to something else.
Only if Maxine is in it
>tfw no big titty smart pink hair chocolate gf
it could be really good, but i don't know how'd they handle combat without feeling like another spiderman game.
Only if it's open world, is actually populated like GTA & has a day/night cycle. Batman is the one IP that most needs to be Open World
All they would have to do is collaborate with the developers of God Hand
I'm in the minority, but Knight > Asylum > City > Origins.
Didn't think City's hub was a good way to tell that particular story, felt it fractured it to much in between an unrealistic hub area, and Origins is overall such a B-team effort.
I don't think the Arkham games have shitty combat I think "exploitable" would fot it better its alot like older assassins creed where you just do the wavy sword counter until you win or witcher 3 where you spam the non roll dodge to win, the base of the combat is impactful and gratifying the first time you play but the issue is the skill ceiling is super low so by the end of the game you are tired of it and on playthrough 2 you hate it because how shallow it feels
>ACTUAL cyberpunk open world with moody cityscape
>also a Batman game
Yes please.
I do. And I still love it.
>implying
I mocked Bamham City then and I'll mock it now.
The Arkham games influenced western gaming in a bad way, removing skill and disincentivizing free form fun. You can't really adlib because it's all scripted, so using gadgets just get in the way of what I'm doing, which is:
Punch punch punch, counter, weapon break, punch punch punch, counter, batswarm - the games are braindead but mildly entertaining, but how anyone pretends they're anything beyond 5/10 games at best is beyond me.
I thought it was okay and overrated and still think that it's okay and overrated as hell
>The Arkham games influenced western gaming in a bad way
The only games majorly influenced by the Arkham games are other WB properties, the design ethos didn't go beyond that. Even the PS4 Spiderman is closer to the PS2 Spiderman in design philosophy than it is to the Arkham series.
>The only games majorly influenced by the Arkham games are other WB properties,
Sleeping Dogs
Witcher games (Not that any of the Witcher games are particularly good, but Witcher 3 even rips off the Batman vision)
But user even the best combat system if used over and over sucks cock, the Arkham combat was amazing in Asylum because it was unique and fit the game, if you want god tier combat siniliar to it and with actual depth look at Kingdom of Amalur Reckoning its pretty similiar, where by you sorta magnetize to the enemy you want, and it has the slow motion weighty feel, but instead of a counter you have a standard block and dodge roll, as well as a skill tree, desu i think the Arkham games could do with a prototype 1 sorta skill tree instead of the combat being pretty much the same thing the entire game, also the games need better enemy variety
>Sleeping Dogs
Hot diggity that was a good combat system
Fuck forgot sleeping dogs skill tree
>also the games need better enemy variety
Enemy variety can only exist if you have systems capable of responding to them
In the Arkham games, even the big monsters are you just fighting small guys but in a different rhythm (the rumors of the original Arkham beta being a DDR game makes a lot more sense)
No. I dislike it.
The first is great but this one sucks.
>Sleeping Dogs
I don't think you remember that game very well, it was combo orientated.
>but Witcher 3 even rips off the Batman vision
It actually rips off the Asscreed x-ray vision which predates any bamham game you moron.
Again the system needs to evolve, reward a player wkth higher damage for ignoring it like instead of counter an incoming attack throw out their own or dodge it and then attack instead of the bog standard counter
they're made for manchildren that like comics duh
Video games are for "manchildren" as much as comics are. There's a lot of overlap there anyway.
>I don't think you remember that game very well, it was combo orientated.
So like an Arkham game - thanks for agreeing.
>It actually rips off the Asscreed x-ray vision which predates any bamham game you moron.
Pretty sure Batman is older than the Assy Cred games, so nice try.
Big oof my dude, you need to step it up or you wont even get a yikes from me chief.
Still do
Love Asylum
Love City
Love Knight
Origins is alright I guess
>harley and batgirl dlc
as you can see, video games are made for autistics, manchildren are only here because of shit games like AA
What would you class as a game for "adults"?
anything that requires more through to play than "ME MASH BUTTON, ME DO GOOD COMBAT"
also not based on picture books designed to sell ads to children
ass creed predates asylum by two years, everything you claim bamham did to influence gaming came from ass creed, from A button parkour and brainless combat to magic vision and one button sneaky takedowns
I play Batman games because I like Batman
Assy Creed sucking and possibly being an influence on the Arkham games being casual is not the conversation we're having.
Still a great game and shitters on Yea Forums mad that the combat became the norm for years in multiple different games doesn't change that.
Give me an example
lmao btfo get rekt kiddo
>and shitters on Yea Forums mad that the combat became the norm for years in multiple different games doesn't change that.
*Became the norm in shitty western games
DMC5 does not play like shit like any shit ass Arkham game.
I still love it
I didn't say every game, I said multiple different games.
Yes, shitty western games
Have you played DMC5? I button mashed my way through that entire game and got at worst B's.
Never played it and never will. Stay mad bitch
The Arkham games don't have the same goals as DMC5. I still wish they had better combat given how much they rely on it, but they still don't share priorities.
Aye, it was great.
And you can beat the Arkham games comboing as little as possible and getting hit all the time, that doesn't mean it's difficult in anyway.
If the design goal of AA and AC was to not make a good combat system, then they succeeded.
I wasn't the one who used DMC5 as the counter point in game design vs the Arkham series, I'm saying DMC5 is just as mindless and easy to beat.
game is a strong word, it's more of a comic book tourist attraction than it is a game
I don't have too, any game that requires focus, attention to detail and effort on the part of the player to learn and master any number of skills the game asks you too, nothing in arkham does that, even the "puzzles" could be brute forced it seconds
>I'm saying DMC5 is just as mindless and easy to beat.
Sure, if you play it on easy
Even on hard, Arkham City doesn't remove the indicators until you get New Game+ - that's how baby retarded designed that series is.
I downloaded Bamham City a couple weeks back and put a fair amount of time into it although I'm not very far. I'm probably 2-3 quest stages past the Freeze boss fight. I've been doing a few side missions, trying to get more skill points and to get the best out of the combat system. It's alright at times but now I'm swarmed with other games.
You can't play DMC5 on the hardest difficulty without playing it on the easier difficulties first.
>I don't have too
Translation
>I can't
As someone who loves Asylum and City, should I check out Origins?
>spoon feed me
any RPG from before 2005
any fighting game
if you're specifically looking for an action game sleeping dogs is basically "what if batman combat took effort"
If you like City, why not
no
Origins is the Dark Souls 2 of the series, it's just crap, like some Chinese imitation
is this THE formula for capeshit games?
>open
>world
>trash
only played asylum, enjoyed it and never felt compelled to play the sequels
>Batman Beyond
>For onions
>Literally most of his rogues gallery left crippled or dead
I still like it even with its flaws that are common with most open world of its era
Yes, it's unironically better than Knight and should just be treated as a City expansion pack. The Electroshock gloves are also OP and fun as fuck to use
I still love it. Why, are the Yea Forums contrarians out in full swing again? It was a great game
