Short, linear, style-over-substance games? They still make them.

i have changed, i have changed...

Why do you never appreciate the good times until they're gone.

Yeah, amazing it was funded by ea of all companies. You'd think dome indie dev would've tried, but I don't even see a trace of more free runners being made.

funny considering I can't think of a single thing that comes close to the style of Mirror's Edge.

>Short
Not a bad thing
>Linear
Not a bad thing
>style-over substance
Depends on what constitutes these two terms, some games wouldn't be nearly as good without their art style, soundtrack, atmosphere, etc. Haven't played Mirror's Edge though

Good, the only thing it had going for it is some nice art direction. No gameplay or story worth shit.

>linear
>still make them
I fucking wish. Linear isn't a negative, yet everything is open world meme garbage now

Its a good thing the gameplay wsn't particularly good or people might actually care

piss poor gun play is a big part of this game for those who don't know

>he used guns

honestly I really never understood why people hated the gunplay so fucking much? While yea it wasn't incredibly important honestly I thought the guns actually felt relatively good. They all feel just like how a gun should, they have weight to them(and properly so as the character can't do parkour while holding two-handed weapons), and they sound beefy as all fuck.

Linear isn't inherently bad. Modern AAA linear a la The Order 1886, however, is bad. I don't think Mirror's Edge quite fits that designation but I get where the stigma towards linearity comes from. A lot of the biggest devs making cinematic bullshit do get that part wrong.

I play a parkour game to run around, not do the same shooty shooty bang bang that a million other AAA games do better.

STILL ALIVE

that doesn't mean it is bad though retard.

It does mean its inclusion is pointless and unwelcome.

This game reminds of the old times.......

I also really enjoyed the gunplay. I was stunned by how the sequel sold itself as the original but without guns, and retards ate that shit up, as if they weren't one of the best parts of the original. Makes my blood boil seeing these idiots clap like seals when they cut out good features

How could a 5'2" asian woman carry and shoot a fucking M249?

well it is an M249 Para which is made with the main purpose of being portable and easier to carry if that makes things any better.

i liked how linear the first one was. there was still room for player expression, but the game stayed on track. i wish the reboot built off of that instead of going hurr durr open world. never played the reboot and probably never will because every thread like this i've been in people tell me it's super mediocre.
halo ce style levels would've been a cool addition; larger, open levels instead of an entirely open world would give plenty of space for some stylish player expression.
the gunplay was booty, but rightfully so. you were a little asian chick, not a gunslinger. combat in general was clunky as fuck, tho. if they had to have it, i wish they put a bigger focus on martial arts. ideally, most of the 'combat' sections should've been focused on getting the fuck out of dodge instead of staying in the fray.

guns were fun but that webm was embarassing
>its inclusion is pointless and unwelcome.
to a faggot like you, yes, but the rest of us enjoyed adding a bit of class shooting to our "sequences"
shut up you fucking nerd

Unironically the best game of 2008. Catalyst was a disappointing followup for the most part but the exhalation during a loading screen after you die was pure kino.

to be fair it was the console version which is a bit clunkier.
