This generation is coming to the end and I got a question for you.
What are the 3 games of the generation?
Generation doesn't apply for your PC? Good, then you at least know what I am referring to, every game on my list is much better on PC, no console wars bullshit here.
For me it's
>Hitman
>Prey
>The Witcher 3

Now, for you, the 3 best games released in the last 6 years?

you're not gonna like my answer because I don't play a lot of aaa mmo games

that said i'm gonna go with breath of the wild, smash ultimate and batman arkham knight

I wouldn't call them the games of the generation but I honestly can't think of anything else

based, stable and not obsessed gamer

Path of Exile
EU4

cant think of a third

The thread is not about what I like, user, it's what you like.
And you like these games.
I can see BOTW and SBU, but why AK?
It was your favorite of the series? The Batmobile fucked this game for me, amazing game but much flawed to be regarded as one of the best of the generation. For me, of course.

Didn't finished PoE because I couldn't beat the fucking dragon.
I loved the writing though, the part on the "medical institution" is one of the best things I've ever saw in a videogame.
Don't know about EU4, too much of a brainlet to play these games.

Honestly I played it on my pc and had it running off my solid state drive, so I didn't have any of the issues anyone else did. I really just liked the joker, enjoyed the super dramatic cutscenes and shit, didn't hate the batmobile, and thought the combat was an improvement over City. Asylum would be my favorite by far if it controlled more like the later games.

But mostly I went with that because I can't remember what other big budget games I played besides elite dangerous. Oh I guess Nier was really cool, but aside from soundtrack I'd say the fact it was an rpg meant it didn't have the depth of bayonetta and mgr, and the fact that it was an action game like bayonetta and mgr meant that it wasn't that deep of an rpg, so it's tough to pick it. Metal Gear Rising was fantastic but too short. Celeste was fantastic but small-scale.

I looked up a list of games that came out in 2013 and realized there's no way I'd remember every game I played this gen enough to pick a top three, hence smash and botw being picks.

Runners up include Nier, Celeste, Mario Kart 8, Dirt Rally, Ori and the Blind Forest (actually that deserves a top three spot) Transistor, Sonic Mania, and Talos Principle

Oh and Spider Man, the only ps4 game I played all gen. The base game was great, the dlc was awful.

Breath of the wild, Monster Hunter World, and Divinity Original Sin 2

Witcher 3
The long dark
Monster hunter world

BoTW
Rain World
La-Mulana 2

BotW
Yakuza 0
Into the Breach

We share a really close taste about this, AA is a favorite too. I didn't finished Nier Automata because it was fucking boring, the soundtrack kept me going but it didn't carried the game for me. I tried 2 more times and played Bayonetta instead.
I loved Celeste and it's one of the things I can't understand about this board, why the fuck would anyone would focus on the story and ignore the gameplay? It's amazing.
MK8 is the better MK to date, I don't like simulators, Ori is not as well mentioned because it's not on PS4, one of the best games of this gen indeed, Transistor is a nice game, but I was expecting more coming from Bastion, I don't like Sonic and didn't had a chance to play Talos yet, looks like my alley.
I played a little of Spiderman, the movement is cool as heell, that's what I wanted. One day I'll play it.

red dead 2
zelda botw
I played a lot of battlefield 1, I liked a lot of fighting games this gen, the capcom revival
Pretty decent gen if you own a pc

can you play into the breach if you're a brainlet who thought FTL was too hard?

the plot sucked me into nier
re: celeste because Yea Forums hates videogames

RDR 2
RE 2
Sekiro

Dayz
Garrys mod
Minecraft

>Middle Earth Shadow of War
I enjoyed slaying hundreds and hundreds of orcs and the nemesis system was pretty fun! I can't wait for another game to use it. Yes, the game shits on the lore, it's kinda easy unless you crank of the difficulty, but I really enjoyed it.

>Towerfall Ascension
This game, man. For $20, I probably got over 50 hours of multiplayer fun with my friends. Fucking GREAT game.

>Persona 5
You may call it cliche or bad or whatever, but I put 120 hours into it and wanted more. I'm going to buy Royal and probably put even more time into it.

Nice. Looking forward to play DOS.
I think I will be better at then at PoE.
And I thought this would be the MH for me, but nope. Still don't like the series.
Don't know about this dark game. Going to look into it.
Rain World was so boring to me. Cool controllers though.
I really need to play the first La-Mulana in other place than the Vita. The small screen killed my mood.
Don't know nothing about rain, but Into the Breach is a game I can follow. Really cool game. Won't touch in any Yakuza till I can play the entire series on my PS4 in english.

Nier Automata
Dark Souls 3
Dragon Quest IX

Absolutely, it's not actually that difficult once it clicks (although some trophies are)

>Rain World was so boring to me
In all honesty it took me more than a couple of goes to really "get" the game and what it's about. I think I had attempted to get started like three times before I saw people putting it into their GoTY lists and I sat down to give it a proper go. The first La-Mulana was the same, they're games that reward you if you stick with them, but I can absolutely see why someone would drop them without getting too far in.
If you do decide to go back to La-Mulana, take notes. I didn't take that warning seriously and I enjoyed the second game far more because of how prepared I was for it

RDR 2 was my most anticipated game from last year and I still didn't played. This December.
I honestly didn't thought I would have 98 hours on BF1. The game is what the game is. Fun.
Gallipolli is still on my mind.
RE2 is my GOTY! Sekiro is just too repetitive, though.
Thank you for talking about the games!
I loved SoM and don't like Tolkien in general. I will play the sequence.
I am looking something to play with 2 other people right now, this could be a thing.
I didn't liked. 40 hours in and dropped without remorse. I guess I was expecting something different, P4G is one of my lifetime favorites.

R6:S
PUBG
and... I dunno, there's not much even close to those for me. I don't have a console so I haven't played RDRed2, but I have to doubt it's as good as RDRed
There's been quite a few decent games (Shadowrun series, Battletech, Vampyr, Expeditions: Viking, Titanfall 2 campaign, etc, etc) but nothing really memorable

BOTW
Bloodborne
Red Dead 2

Towerfall Ascension is on sale on Steam right now! I highly, HIGHLY recommend it! The DLC adds more characters (purely cosmetic), more arrow types, levels and a co-op Player vs Environment mode.
