Reimu has Touhou's legacy and recent Switch titles while Quote has one game that's been ported a couple of times on Nintendo systems and having guest appearances in some indie titles.

Isaac would actually have a lot of potential honestly. You could have some gimmick involving him getting tear effect items or something and have his other moves be based on shit like Brimstone/Mom's Knife/Fetus/Ludovico/etc.

I have seen Quote be a playable guest character in Blade Strangers and in Gang Garrison II. In neither game did he fit properly in a PvP environment with a different visual style.

Well Blade Strangers is a really low budget fighting game so I wouldn't compare it to Smash which would obviously put a lot much more effort in, and he fits the aesthetic pretty well because he's pretty cartoonish and so are most of Smash's characters.

Smash is 3D. Remember when they made Cave Story 3D and it was a major visual downgrade?

On top of that, all of his attacks in Cave Story were projectiles. We already have a character based around that and he's obnoxious. No more anime swordsmen and no more mega men.

At least in Gang Garrison he was in a similar gametype.
