DP was the worst vanilla release the series ever had. Platinum fixed what it could in the dex and QoL changes like surfing speed, but you can’t fix some things. Forgettable gyms, no real challenge outside of the final boss, the second worst rival in the series, and the awful Elite Four. It doesn’t help that many aspects of Sinnoh are just repurposed ideas from the original gold and silver.

Tell me what Gen doesn’t have that. And as for the last one it isn’t bad since they never force you to capture any of them. Anyway the Pokemon are better because there’s greater variance of what you can catch, and their use is better thanks to the split on top of having the Underground early on meaning early shards for tutors. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Hoenn because the move sets are trash for most mins and the lack of split doesn’t help much either.

Both Silver and Blue are often cited as how rivals should be since they are cocky, but Blue is just bantering with the player and is strong in his own right while Silver is being nonsensical with how belittling he is and his team is trash.

the rock gym thing was only 1 and 3, and in neither gen was it a problem. RB you could brute force with ember because they had no rock moves, remakes give chamander line Metal Claw pretty much specifically for brock, and R/S you could use said fire/fighting to ignore it, ignoring the plentiful catching opportunities along the way.

Gen 2 is far worse for grass starter than the above cases had it because you literally cannot win without other mons because his whole team has flying moves
