They have to figure out the rights situation for goldeneye and rare games in general

Just use a raspberry pi 4 dummy

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE THE CONTROLLERS USB ALREADY.

I'm expecting an announcement next year (though maybe a release in early 2020?)

3D emulation is a lot more complex then 2D emulation. The hardware they use in the SNES mini can support 2D or even very basic 3D like PS1 quality, but not quite N64 games, so they'd need something new (ie more expensive).

It might not happen for years, don't get your hopes up.

>expecting zoomers to actually own a N64

>Goldeneye
Never. Sorry. Bond games rights have changed hands a couple times, and it would be very expensive to buy the rights now. Definitely not worth it for them. Ever.

>Rare games
Possibly but unlikely. Depends how the partnership with MS goes.

>Perfect Dark, Banjo, DKR and DK64
Easy no problem.
>Goldeneye
Not happening.
>CBF
Not exactly a good idea.

People will just hack it and add roms to it.

N64 emulation is kind of a bitch even today, I wonder it'd be as easy as hack it and throw the roms into it.

The only N64 games that I'm interested in playing at the moment are the two Stadium games and snowboard kids (for nostalgia). If they did make an N64 classic, they might put Pokemon Stadium 1 on it, up my (pipe)dream I'm having it connectable with the 3DS virtual console pokemon games probably wouldn't happen.

It wasn't hard in NES and SNES mini, i fail to see why it would be hard in the N64 mini.

POORLY CODED

Yeah, they were marked up to shit on the first release but they've both had new waves of releases.

What's the point? You can hook a PC up to your TV and play n64 games with a controller.
If you want something smaller a hacked Switch can run n64 games too.

Does this work normally or is it like playing on a glitchy emulator?

I don't think resident evil 2 N64 can be emulated yet

A lot of N64 tech is stuck behind SGI and Rambus patents, if they actually go the distance and emulate the N64 from the ground-up, they're gonna drop an absolute fortune doing so. The controller also isn't a rectangular piece of plastic either, it's a manta ray-like horror with one of the fuckiest joysticks ever, it'd be a giant undertaking and ensure each unit is ungodly expensive. There's also the fact a lot of N64 meat is 3rd-party

Parallel n64 emulates anything with great accuracy if your PC is good enough. It's a recent emulator and it's tied to retroarch so people pretend it doesn't exist. n64 emulation has been good for a while now it's just people parroting old information without fact checking.

Also Mupen64Plus got a fork called next that is very performance friendly and accurate enough for lower end hardware. Even the Switch can run it well.

>N64 emulation is kind of a bitch even today
Not really, ARM N64 emulation is though.
Still a perfect emulator wont exist in years.

No its 100% just like a cart. It just loads that rom into the cart.

Project 64 works great with almost all N64 games, I've never had any issues with it. If a bunch of 600lb neckbeards can make a good emulator, why can't Japs?

Now you can see how ass the (N) 64 library is outside the 10 hits.

They don't have any plans for it. There was a trademark filed for a logo here:
>usgamer.net/articles/nintendo-trademarks-n64-for-what-sure-sounds-like-a-n64-classic-mini
But companies register trademarks all the time without ever using them, so it shouldn't be seen as anything more than an acknowledgement of the idea and the possibility of production, not as a confirmation of anything.
N64 emulation is pretty poor compared to the other consoles they've done so far. Plus the games are bigger and would require more expensive hardware. Then there's all the legal issues with licensing the Rare games that everyone wants (Banjo might not be a problem anymore but Goldeneye is probably out).

Project 64 works wonders but I still have issues having my WiiU GameCube adaptor to show up from time to time on it, lookin to switch. What’s the best alternative controller to use for it
