I figure boom boom/Pom Pom is the “generic” version of these level of koopas. The koopalings/koopa kids are ones with more personality and a bit of a ruling class/generals. Bowser is the king and bowser jr is his son.

Basically these guys are Uruk-hai to the generic koopas orc/goblin. Koopas parakoopas the football chuck guys etc... lower level of the koopa race while boombooms are higher and the kooplaings and bowser and stuff are “ruler” level
