They all got fat when you could work a summer job to buy a brand new car, make a 20% down payment on a house, support a family of five with one adult working in the household, or go to college for $200 a credit. is right, they deserve no better than dying in the street.

My parents ask me when I'm going to buy a house instead of "throwing money away on rent". They still haven't paid off their mortgage and their house is valued at 4 times what they purchased it for.

The housing market is absolutely insane, yeah. Depending on your area it's just not feasible to afford a home, at least as an unmarried individual with any sort of debt.
I'm a homeowner in the midwest in a growing area of about 80,000 I'd say, and my house wasn't crazy, but something similar in a more affluent area would easily fetch millions.

Boomers live in a completely different reality than their children and don't understand that millenials do not have the freedom to work wherever they want on whatever schedule they want, that the price of living is constantly creeping upward while wages have barely increased, and that you can't even afford to move into a shitty one bedroom apartment by yourself without making at least double minimum wage, let alone buy a house.

They don't understand that the housing market is ridiculously overvalued and that college has become a fucking scam that costs a fortune, promises much but guarantees nothing, and that everyone is expected to shackle themselves to debt they'll never be able to pay off in order to attend.

They expect their children to just go out, meet a partner and get married and have their own children, and don't understand that hookup culture and smartphones have destroyed relationships and even if they did find a partner to have a child with, they would not have the time or money to care for the child as both partners would need to work full time just to keep a roof above their heads.

They don't understand that we don't live in the 70s or 80s anymore, that the country's wealth has been stolen from us, and that everything is slowly getting worse and the world is a much shittier place now. But the worst is yet to come, and I feel for the generation that comes after us, because they will be the true victims of all of this.
