Is there anything so autistic yet so normie at the same time...

is there anything so autistic yet so normie at the same time? like everyone who I've personally met who "collects" these things is either a legit autist or a turbonormie woman/söyboy. like what's the appeal? I'm not a figurine guy, but I do get the appeal of like those well made collectors edition figurines, but these just look like cheap bottom of the barrel shit you'd find at some Chinese gift shop yet they take up a whole wall at a gamestop for some strange reason. fuck these things

Where did Funko Pops succeed where that all the other "lol so nerdee xD" shit over the years like Mighty Muggs failed, Yea Forums? 99% of them are completely hideous yet they're still selling crazily well a decade later.

Like, I see why people would be hesitant to drop $50-100+ on a Nendo or Figma, or hell, even a Todd McFarlane figure, I completely get that. But then when you're spending the equivalent amount of money on fucking Funko Pops, it becomes a bit silly.

Even my local retro store has started buying/selling these and at the time I was there they were having an in depth conversation about rares/variants. I dont get the appeal personally but I try not to judge.

I get the idea of collecting stuff, but almost every type of thing that's collected by a fanbase is typically unique in some way. All of these "figures" are so bland and similar to one another. I think I've only seen a couple that I would deem unique.

my local store also now has a vape lounge, theres no saving it.

I'm strangely infuriated by this.

I own around 10 Funkos atm and will buy more in the near future, AMA.

Why?

When and why did your taste completely die? You presumably weren't always like this.

some are good

Because it's cheap. People who buy funko don't buy because they like the thing, it's for the credit of liking said thing.
