3DS, but Vita takes a respectable second place after being hacked.

Which is easier to hack?

Vita is by far the better system in terms of hardware and design. It also has better hacking potential. 3DS has a strong library though and Nintendo didn't completely drop the ball with marketing like Sony did.

I have no experience with hacking a Vita, but the 3DS was very easy to hack. I can't imagine it's any different for a Vita.

Does it play Escape of the Ape?

If you're on the right firmware, you just have to visit a website with the vita browser and your vita is hacked.

Otherwise may need to do downgrade it first, which is also easy. Not sure for 3.70 though, there's a hack for it but I didn't try it.

Vita. If you're below firmware 3.70 you just go to a website in the browser and then ftp some files over. Takes 5 minutes to downgrade and set up enso.

Vita still has a freeshop too, it's called pkgj and unlike the 3ds freeshop it doesn't pull from official servers so it won't be getting shut down any time soon.

3DS is easier for initial setup, but Vita is easier for actually putting games on it.

3DS if you're 3 - 8 years old
Vita if you're older but no older than 16.

Anything greater and you're too old to be playing portable video games. Go 5 minutes without them, have some self respect when you're in public.

This. I have non hacked 3ds and hacked vita and I'm really enjoying them both even though they died.

Beyond MH4U, it really doesn't. Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, Killzone Mercs, Celcetta and Vita being actually viable for multiplats like Rayman Origins and other indies made it the better handheld.

Both are worth owning and have some great games.

There is no reason to downgrade except to save yourself ten seconds at startup.

Eh, there's more than just Monster Hunter.
3DS has SMT, Etrian Odyssey, Phoenix Wright, Yo-kai Watch, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Bravely Second, and the plethora of Nintendo shit you would expect like Smash, Pokemon, Mario, etc. I would take those over a lot of what the Vita has to offer.

If you aren't into RPGs, then yeah, the Vita might be a better option, but who doesn't like RPGs?

I see my mistake, I just read him comparing them to eachother, and iirc pkj app on the vita does directly install from psn, unless I read the last vita shill thread wrong.

I have both systems hacked. Though ever since I hacked my Vita, I haven't really touched my 3DS. Been playing Danganronpa 1 for the first time lately. Pretty good.
