All factions does is add some pointless dialogue to npcs to show you're part of their faction, you maybe get a mission or two to do for them, and you can do dumb shit like join an enemy faction of the one you're already in.
Also apartments don't add shit to the game either. You don't need multiple apartments, it's a luxury and not even necessary for gameplay.
