Can you refight him somehow? He's the only boss The 3 secret bosses (zombie Trevor Belmont, Carpenter and Slot Machine Mimic) and Dominique/Bael are refightable at any time, the other normal bosses are refightable through Boss Rush, but I don't see any way to refight O.D.

Ability to convert passives into permanent upgrades which AoS/DoS never had ergo improvement.
Biggest castle without resorting to Mirror/Inverted bullshit like SotN, HoD and PoR did ergo improvement.
Music literally on par with SotN, Yamane's absolute best since SotN so not a downgrade.

The one thing I got dissapointed by is how linear the game is. You can't really get dissapointed by things like models and graphics because you get to see them in trailers / the moment you boot the game, but the more I played the more I think they missed the mark with the exploration aspect of the game. It's always play one area > get thing > Go to another one. You have no choice in which one you go first.
I just started playing pretty much blind last night and I just beat chad-getsu. Have I missed anything by not going through the "forbidden underground path" or whatever was by the castle gate and not doing the garden of silence because it had that blocked off path?

The fact is DMCV is still being played because it's combat is that good. Many people stopped playing Sekiro after they beat it because NG+ is barren and that game itself doesnt offer enough combat depth to warrent a second playthrough
I have a fair amount of respect for IGA. He was always pretty down to earth while working for Konami and was honest about shit in interviews. I don't remember him ever claiming that he made Castlevania either. I didn't back Bloodstained but I felt like he was more decent then Inafune about a lot of stuff.
I do have some mixed opinions on some of the timeline shenanigans with the Castlevania timeline, but it is relatively minor.
My favorite metroidvania thats still castlevania got to be circle of the moon. Its difficulty is just right. The optional gauntlet is also the most challenging thing to date in metroidvania.
