tinyBuild no longer will sell titles on GOG.com due to the fact that their games are torrented all over the Internet.
>We unfortunately would never be able to support a deluxe edition or a soundtrack because the second 1 person purchases it, it is available to upload anywhere on the internet. >We have to be protective of our developers. We can't upload content and just hope for the internet to not steal it.
>We do know [that DRM'd versions are available for pirating as well]. DRM is still safer in the end however. Especially for online based games. Requiring builds to be signed in through a platform in order to play.
steam cracks are more proliferate than GOG releases of the same game. devs are retarded
Mason Howard
>Pirate leeches ruin everything again. What new? Why you think no large studio makes PC exclusives anymore? As long piracy is a thing say goodbye to all good things.
Isaiah Rivera
I wanted Streets of Rogue but this just makes me want to pirate it.
Not giving those kikes $10 after reading this shit.
Easton Lopez
retard
Easton Morris
English is the board language here. Speak it, motherfucker.
Also, I'm glad the 3DS, Ps3, X360, PS2, PS1, all never saw piracy on those systems. Thank GOD for consoles.
Josiah Brooks
>developer saves costly licensing fee spent on a DRM (Denuvo for example) >DRM'd games get cracked handily and torrents spread anyway >"nooo GOG's anti-DRM stance is costing us money"
Christopher Price
piracy is just an unfortunate side effect of digital media. having no drm is better though because it helps to salvage games that get nuked off the internet due to publisher issues. for example the pc version of second sight was removed from all digital distribution platforms including gog and the physical copy has long been out of print. some games cant be played without piracy and the existence of gog is great because it makes piracy easy in case this happens.
Michael Morales
>tinyBuild Who?
Austin Bailey
>piracy is just an unfortunate side effect of digital media.
I can honestly see Tinybuild's logic - GOG makes sense for older games, that have been out for a while, are fully patched and are, in essence, at their best "state", so people who haven't bought the game, yet - have a choice between DRM and a DRM-free version - however putting new releases on GOG and them updating them is the equivalent of giving pirates a handout.
Yeah controlling the damage his retarded CMs caused.
Henry Flores
See the difference here is that every time a game is updated which, nowadays, happens very often, especially for early access games - the pirates have to gain access to the newest version, while a completely DRM-free game might as well be directly linked to tpb, as there's precisely no effort involved in distributing a GOG release.
Jose Morgan
>inb4 Epic Exclusivity
Lucas Thompson
How can a iq50 monkey even make a game? If you distribute music in any form people can record the stereo output while playing the music and thus get a DRM free copy either way. You can't protect music from piracy.
Christopher Gomez
>cry about g2a >now cry about gog Not even surprised.
Dominic Ross
Those updates are always uploaded the within the same day anyway, retard.
Austin King
>because the second 1 person purchases it, it is available to upload anywhere on the internet. This is a huge slippery slope, and this still doesn't excuse the refusal to uploading DLC and soundtracks, since there will still be a good portion of people who will want to buy them.
You will NEVER be able to defeat piracy, no matter how many shady anti-tampering "protections" to do you force down into the anus of your games only in order to benefit no one. You will never convince other people to stop pirating games, which they pirate by the simple fact that IT'S FREE. Why would anyone pay when you get it for FREE? There will ALWAYS be a group that will use any single chance to bypass the payment requirement. Where is the proof that digital piracy harms the sales? How come I never see this?
Caring for combating digital piracy is useless and will never be worth of it. This goes for every single kind of creator with their digital products such as artists.
The community manager's (allegedly) false statements have absolutely zero bearing on the fact that tinyBuild-published games don't receive updates on GOG.
David Hernandez
>especially for early access games Well, they could release it DRM-free once the game had the proper release.
Gabriel Reyes
See how nowhere in the post does he say "tinyBuild no longer will sell titles on GOG.com" like the OP does? This is a clickbait thread.
Liam Ortiz
>Indie trash game whining about piracy to justify its low sells.
Matthew Davis
>Those updates are always uploaded the within the same day anyway No they aren't, for a couple of the most popular AAA games, maybe, but nobody's fucking rushing to crack the newest tinyBuild game update on day 1, you drooling mongoloid, which is precisely why there's a difference between DRM piracy and DRM-free piracy for them.
Ryan Reyes
This. Pirates should be murdered.
Matthew Wright
>Hello Neighbour Wasn't that a buggy, unfinished mess?
Austin Scott
Yeah, but it was a decent sucess, so it got a sequel. Which is an Epic exclusive, unlike the original game.
Brandon Ward
what does putting pasta sauce on a cd prove?
Josiah Ortiz
how is this shit not fraud?
after looking at their gog pages I can't see anything that plainly states that they will not update their games on the website.
Nolan Martin
>fraud Please name a single law that would force them to update their games.
Jordan Morales
Steamworks is barely even drm, it's easily cracked and valve doesn't give a fuck about piracy in the first place. If anything gog is less likely to be pirated because nobody cares enough to release it.
How is a digital game getting pulled off a store any different from a physical game getting pulled off stores?
Jackson Rogers
You're missing the point - the timeliness of these updates is an added value to buying a game versus pirating it.
Nathaniel Kelly

tinyBuild is mostly just a publisher, tho.
Luke Flores
kek Get this through your tiny brains: just because they pirate it does not mean they lost a sale. You people sound as pathetic as the ad companies whining about adblockers. Pirates won't just buy your game because they can't pirate it lmao, they're pirates for a reason. At least you get a little minority that buys the shit they play later. For instance, 99% of my bought anime, manga, and videogames are all thanks to piracy.
I do not understand this at all. From day one GOG was DRM free. They still decided to sell their games on their Why are they suddenly surprised?
Mason Hill
ah, that must be why they call it copypasta
Elijah Brown
this is brain damage levels of low-iq reasoning. nothingburger by literal who indie subhumans. the truth is no one wants to buy your dreck. if you are so sure of your amazing 10/10 game then throw denuvo on it, you cock sucking filthy subhumans. I never even heard of TinyTurds until today.
Luke Thompson
When I see shit like this I always like to remember that CD Projekt themselves are releasing a huge game like Cyberpunk on their own platform, which will make it easy as shit to pirate, yet I bet it will still sell like hotcakes (much like Witcher 3). It's almost like you have to make good games to make people want to buy your stuff even when it's easily available for free.
did someone forgot to say that retard from tb that steam releases are being pirated al the same? Unless you use denuvo, which isn't guarantee either

Everything he says is right though, if I was a developer I would in NO FUCKING WAY release my game on GoG. No matter how "consumer friendly" you are, consumers don't operate in the consensus on good faith, they operate in exploiting for their own gains. Nobody who advocates for free-DRM do it because they want to get rid of DRM, they want to do it to gain easy access to piracy. You just have to see the recent predicament GoG/CDPR is in right now: a few months back GoG had to let-go 10 workers because the store isn't making the revenues to maintain it. Consumers are too fucking stupid to place your trust on and you need to treat them like children, in fact like enemies where you are always one step ahead, preventing them from taking advantage of you, and looking out for your own best interest. DRM needs to stay, you just have to take a look at last year, shitters in this place were gleeing over the fact that GoD was a thing, and every game that was released on GoG was met with "why would I ever buy a game on GoG? I'm not a cuck, they made it easier for me to download it for free."
Parker Foster
You're a clueless fucking console gamer.
If you weren't, you'd know a fancy Russian forum where clean Steam files get shared for pretty much everything. And then you can use one of the million generic Steam emus.
But I guess actually copying files over might be too hard for you.
Well Clustertruck and Pathologic 2 were pretty good
Cameron Flores
GOG just needs to add bullshit clauses into their contracts. Abandoning a platform in favour of another should be a breach contract. Imagine if Microsoft said they're no longer updating or releasing future versions windows in America.

Damn, so this is the brain power of indie devs.

At least with GoG I can place my installer in an external hard drive, and have the means to exchange the files and installers. I would literally have my game FOREVER for the fucking rest of time. Hi smelly
Aiden Mitchell
It's hard to feel dumb for buying games I like, when the people saying it spend money on things like sports, pornography, shoes, hats, tattoos, drugs etc.
And if DRM gets better you will NEVER play the game, and you will be forced to buy it. DRM and being anti-consumer-friendly wins again :) Developers get their dosh, and people are enticed to buy it if they want to play their stuff.
DENUVO YES
NO DRM IS CANCER
William Morris
They really don't understand how piracy works. Piracy isn't lost sale because that person won't ever buy your game. It can be the best game in the world, buying games isn't an option for that person, be it because they don't have money or they don't want to spend money. By putting any sort of DRM you are just hurting the game performance for people who do buy the game, since pirates just remove it.
If anything piracy helps long term sales because it's possible that a pirate will buy a game he likes on the future. People who buy games buy games and people who pirate will pirate. You cannot forcefully turn a pirate into a consumer.
Xavier Williams
>And if DRM gets better you will NEVER play the game The only way to make uncrackable DRM is to introduce always-online checks, and even then people will make custom servers or whatever else. MARK MY FUCKING WORDS. The first issue Epic created then went after was the revenue share and their target was Steam. Now it will be GoG and Piracy and they will have the people they buy out rave about piracy concerns.
Jeremiah Russell
>The only way to make uncrackable DRM is to introduce always-online checks, and even then people will make custom servers or whatever else. Perfect unbreakable DRM will never exist Stadia would like to have a word with you. Once streaming games become popular, consumers being forced to log in a master server to play their games, and developers/publishers see the benefit of having their game locked within a server and be a distance away from piratefags, it will be the fucking end of piratefags. Hope you are ready to absolute suck the ever-living dick out of GoG, cause DRM is WINNING BOYO! Fuck piratefags.
I can assure you that's not true for many people. I know plenty of fags that will pirate even if a game is on sale for 5-10 euro, just because they have the option and they're jews. But I agree, ruining it for paying customers is no solution.
Parker Bailey
>once streaming games become popular He's still not wrong. Unbreakable drm will never exist because streaming games will never become popular.
Carson Watson
That's what I said. Even if the game is good AND cheap, they will pirate it. Buying is not an option for some people, because of money.
probably because Ice-Pick Lodge has been close to bankruptcy and quite literally raised from the dead
Nathaniel Wright
True, Stadia may be able to combat piracy (provided we live in a perfect world where Google doesn't abandon all its projects after a year or two, and this is not a perfect world). but at that point might as well end the industry altogether - streaming fucking videogames? I'd rather have nothing.
Jordan Allen
The gaming industry you know, will die. The gaming industry, will not. Normfags will never stop playing. NEETincles are no longer in the equation.
Stadia will success if they can deliver console-like experience aka sub 24-fps with pretty picture.

Fuck off with this shit, it's still not ready and the speed of light will never make it feasible.

true, if you cant affort a game, get a job or stop playing video games because you dont deserve it, fucking poor ass trailer trash game stealing nigger faggots
Basically the logic is that the HK devs made Hollow Knight too cheap with too much content.
And now ever since it released players see a $20+ indie game and say "hey man why the fuck is this not even ten hours long? fucking hollow knight was like fifteen bucks and like twenty hours or some shit. lazy fucking developers". And this doesn't just apply to games. In any creative endeavor if someone makes a relatively quality product but asks for far cheaper than all their other competitors, the other artists get mad that this one dude is fucking up customer expectations of other products.
There was some indie dev who bitched on the HK discord around late last year.
Thomas Mitchell
>has a gog version up >still has incredibly good sales Maybe people buy games that aren't bad?

Chase Walker
>cheevo whores Holy shit, I thought you all died out.
Emulation is a beautiful thing. Instead of trying so hard to kill it, they should embrace it and release virtual consoles for computers. Having up to the previous generation console should be completely fine and a big way to earn money from gullible consumers buying the same game for the 6th time in a row.
Former piratefag here, I buy plenty of games nowadays. A lot of games I have on GOG are even titles I finished by pirating back in the day and I just bought them much more recently despite not really intending to play them again.

This.
I worked at GOG for 3 years and believe me, they do not give a single fuck about you assholes. It's ALL about profit and tracking your usage habits in that shit fucking store.

ISPs are still notoriously shitty in the US. Comcast has a 1tb monthly limit (yes, that includes their "unlimited plan"). If you go over 1tb they charge you $10 per 50gb. Not to mention that they've lobbied against Google Fiber so that they can have the monopoly on fiber networks and charge out the ass for them. Streaming will never take off in the US because it consumes a large amount of bandwidth. The US is a corporate hellhole.

Bentley Morales
>acting like a dumbfuck retard on purpose fuck outta here
Ian Butler
Does anyone actually shill for stadia? What would they even get paid in, a free account that doesn't work? Does anyone even remember Gamefly streaming?
Hunter Ortiz
Sorry user, politicians care more about fundraising for their next election rather than doing their jobs.
Daniel Hill
Chill, user. I meant board versions but looking at your answer means there aren't. Carry on
>we can't upload content and just hope the internet to not steal it
THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE FUCKING PLATFORM FUNCTIONS YOU TROGLODYTE. IT'S AN INFORMATION NETWORK. AT SOME POINT, SOMEONE WILL CRACK IT AND THE PIRACY OF THE IP WILL COMMENCE.
The retardation is staggering.
Aaron Stewart
Litteral who. I doubt anyone could tell a game developped by, or even published by, tinyBuild without looking it up on Wikipedia. And even after that, you'll see it's just a bunch of fucking unknown game nobody ever played. I doubt even pirates would bother pirating one of them.
Jordan Parker
how can I watch this in vim?
Asher Martinez
copying =/= stealing
fuckin braindead baboon
Elijah Baker
lost sales are theft
Parker Wood
>You know people can pirate your DRM versions right >We do know that, but it's still safer What sort of low IQ does this developer have?
John Bennett
>sold a game (Punch Club) in small batches, refused to put it on steam proper until someone streamed the game from start to finish >intentionally released Hello Neighbour in the unplayable state it was in to try and cash in on the lets play crowd >takes their games off platforms because they think DRM on indie games is good >"why are our games pirated and bought on G2A?" I legitimately cannot wait for them to go bankrupt and for the few studios they have worth a shit to be picked up by Devolver
Daniel Jones
>People will always find ways to meticulously make your game look bad, and give them reasons to pirate it. Only those games i don't want to buy. While i still can buy later completed pirated games if i like it, because why not.
Juan Nelson
While I can understand their point, it really depends on how relevant they are. Consider Darkwood, the own dev released a cracked version. With almost 4k reviews on Steam it sold like 240k copies. That's pretty good for a literal who indie. I would argue in this case that piracy actually gave Darkwood more visibility. However it's important to also notice that it isn't an expensive game, I'm not sure it would work depending on the price.
its potentially a lost sale, not an absolute lost sale
obviously you're too much of a mouthbreathing retard to understand
Carter Jenkins
Imagine becoming a video game developer, in this day and age. What a pathetic lifestyle.
Leo Cook
>Thinking about buying a game then not makes one a thief.
Luis Nelson
Yeah, but he complained about a fucking soundtrack. There's no game store that puts DRM on the extra stuff, not even Steam does it. Once you download it, you can distribute it. There's no excuse for the missing soundtrack DLC and even the founder knows it. >Making all of that work offline means designing local systems which most smaller teams don't have the capacity to do. This doesn't explain DLC/OST missing though -- it's something we're in the process of fixing starting with Party Hard.
Carter Bailey
>he creates a thread when their response is up on the same fucking subreddit I mean, Yea Forums is dumber than reddit at this point and will fall for it.
Charles Peterson
>we will fuck over our customers, that wil teach pirates a lesson reminder to pirate all tinybuild games or buy them from g2a
Isaac Baker
I didn't know about that, but as far as soundtrack DLC goes isn't it usually because those profits belong to the composer(s)?
Ryan Russell
No. Their soundtracks are made in a work for hire basis, like the average publisher and Amanita Design. That's why they sell it by themselves on Steam.
>actually defending yandev He literally kicked them out because his code was so fucked up they would have to rework it from the ground up for several months, during which he couldnt spit out any new meme 'updates' to shill his garbage game. Worse, the rework would use a new engine his dumb ass didnt know about and he couldnt accept that. He even said so himself Get back to work Eva, you useless spic
Jaxon Sanders
lmao cry more
Eli Adams
>I like it when companies abuse customers have sex
Jackson Reyes
>a few months back GoG had to let-go 10 workers because the store isn't making the revenues to maintain it >last year they had record profits and redirected most of GoG's money to advertise and support the game they were making That doesn't add up. They are getting record sales but had to let 10 people go due to....lack of sales? Stop believing click-bait articles jackass.
Leo Scott
How many of those pirates would have bought the game?
For example I was going to pirate Octopath Traveler, but it's not cracked yet. Am I going to pay $50 for a game that got mediocre reception? No. The devs lose nothing from what I'm doing.
Sebastian Parker
>Why yes, I do support DENUVO, Steam, and anti-consumer practices for self preservation and to deny piratefags their games. How can you tell? Fuck gog.
Indie devs who release their own cracked versions are typically based like the Terraria dev
Leo James
And you are why we need Denuvo, Stadia, and heavy DRM. Fucking based Denuvo, thank you for showing your support to the cause piratefag. We need to protect our games.
William Rogers
Yes, videogames make more money through sales and in-game purchases than movies make with ticket sales, movie sales, and streaming through shit like Netflix, and music makes through album sales, licensing to radio stations, song sales through iTunes and the like, and concerts. I notice that picture points out sales have increased every year.
Yet the picture shows sales profits increasing every single year?
Sebastian Smith
>Do a study >Make a different controled parameter >Insert "muh feelings"
Yeah this proves nothing.
Aaron Butler
Minus the preachyness factor, pirated games having dumb details that fuck up players without realizing it's because of a pirated copy is my second favorite form of anti-piracy protection. Sadly the best version is no longer possible.
Liam Wilson
Because people keep saying 'how the fuck do you not know' whenever I ask.
Jaxon Nelson
why would anyone buy a shit game with that amount of DRM when there is already more good games that you could play in your lifetime?
Austin Brown
>Sadly the best version is no longer possible. Which was?
This is why Epic will win while Steam and GOG will die.
Tim knows that none of you matter.
John Reed
That's really dumb. In most cases, it's easier to find games and their updates for the steam version than it is for the gog version.
Daniel Rivera
What are they going to do? Throw it up on steam and watch it be pirated again? Buy Denuvo which costs hundreds of thousands only to watch it be cracked?
Ayden Cook
>Why yes, I do pirate every single title out there and later give money to the ones I truly loved, how could you tell? Bless peer-to-peer filesharing
Imagine growing old enough to see a world where zoomers start screeching in full support and advocation for anticonsumerism, DENUVO, more personal restrictions, and want more of it. What the fuck, I'm just 30 and already I'm feeling disappointment in the future generation. What's next? Proconsumerism is terrorism?
How will Tim win without customers? No, Fortnite kids don't count.
Hunter Diaz
Shit like MGS1 where there would be information on the physical game box or instruction manual that you would need to progress. Not only was it a solid anti-piracy measure, it also led to lateral thinking scenarios which was especially fun in point and click adventure games.
Regrettably, thanks to the internet that sort of thing is no longer effective as anti-piracy since you can just look up the answers without ever actually needing to see the instruction manual/back of the box.
Luis Brown
Even if Epic wins, it will only prove that Gaben was right.
There are people who hate physical copies and refunds because they make impossible good Steam sales.
Joshua Myers
I'm going to be extremely pissed off if this means that the GOG version of Pathologic 2 won't get DLC that steam does. This is such a stupid backflip that it guarantees that I'm going to pirate any future games tinybuild releases that aren't on GOG.
Jace Butler
Times up pirate nigger. Stadia is going to get popular, GoG is going to die, and Denuvo is going to be king moving the industry forward.
Are they retarded or they are payed to be retarded.
Brayden Diaz
Stadia's an experiment, just like Google Glass. Remember Google Glass? Yeah neither does anyone else.
Samuel Jackson
It's really interesting how most GoGtards behave like if they were members of a cult
Michael Green
I see it everyday in these chans. face it, the games industry has groomed them to think this way.
Kayden Wood
Didn't these guys put their game "No Time To Explain" on The Pirate Bay themselves?
Dominic Martinez
Every game that I've pirated and actually liked I have bought, besides swat 4 because I keep forgetting.
Luke Long
>Pirates >FUCK DENUVO DAY 1 PIRATE >Pirates >LMAO NO DRM? DAY 1 PIRATE You can't win with pirates. They are the welfare whores of the gaming industry. They have a mental illness and nothing will fix it.
Thomas Moore
You are a fucking moron, every website has google shit tracking you, block the scripts moron.
William Carter
>Denuvo >Day 1 Pirate Unless there was a Denuvo-less version available to the public, those things just don't happen.
Landon Gonzalez
In other news, user can't stop shitposting and shilling to save its life.
Jayden Edwards
>Yea Forums >VIDEO GAMES ARE GOOD >Yea Forums >VIDEO GAMES ARE SHIT You can't win with autists
Carson Nelson
it's been like this for 10 years retard
Jeremiah Richardson
Your point being?
Matthew Gray
>say goodbye to companies that only cares about money good
Alexander Murphy
I don't know
Luis Thompson
Aight.
What I was trying to say was that maybe, just maybe, "Pirates" and "Yea Forums" isn't actually single entity but people with different tastes and morals.
There are people who pirate everything they can get their hands on and people who buy the game after playing it if they liked it. and anything in between.
There's also different people who browse Yea Forums who have shit tastes and people who don't play video games it's either or
Austin Nelson
>Hello Neighbor
The way that game was handled was the work of Satan. Every update was a stupid arg or something nonsensical with glitches never fixed or new ones added to the pile. They still promote this game during special event and con for some god forsaken reason.
this is fucking bullshit, i refuse to believe that they didn't teach the fucking community manager to not spew their stupid opinion, it is damage control.
