And I don't recommend the steam version. The sprites are fines (I still prefer the original ones for some characters), but they changed some musics 3 month ago and it completely ruined the whole "mystery/creepy" aspect of the sound design. I don't know if it's possible with some manipulation to revert back to the original musics. I suppose it's possible but I didn't try.

I was more investment in the mystery of Higurashi, but I feel like the final chapters are weaker. While Umineko has terribly dull parts from time to time, when the mystery of Higurashi is solved itncompletely turns into an action story about the power of friendship. Umineko at least gives more insight on the characters even after turning into magical beings fighting each other.
I got all of them by save/loading for the achievement. But probably only solved about 3 riddles on my own. I'm dumb.
I wish the Umineko VN would've at least shown how every twilight was made, this fight was cool as fuck though especially the OST.

The killer's motivations made absolutely no sense to me, as very few people on the island actually deserved to die. The meta world was given a ridiculous amount of screen time and its own plotline but is never explained at all what it actually is which made it feel like a gigantic waste of time. The mystery itself was very flimsy because it's just built on 90% lies shown right to your face, so as soon as you realize that, everything becomes easy to solve.

To add to this post, the manga also expands on the meta world origins in the last chapter. It is never explained in a direct way, and it's up to representation.
Because often the meta world is shown parallel to the real world and seemingly 'merges' with it like at the end of episode 2 or when ange talks to featherine. That was the most confusing thing to me. Too much of the meta world makes no sense to me, and I can't care about anything that happens in it because of it. If it just stayed as a narration tool to assist in solving the mysteries of the island like how its used at the end of episode 4 it would've been much better.

The game is still a VN, it's completely new and not related with the other games, battle royale is in right now, and we might even get just the first chapter. It's not like ZTD which ultimately failed because of the previous games. Hell, for some people Umineko was the ZTD with it's final chapters ruining the story.

Definitly not. First off EP1-2 Battler are was written by Yasu. The last parts, escpacially all the magic stuff, probably wasn't in the actual bottles. Those are the wet dreams and possibly fetishes for the "Beatrice persona" and the pieces. MetaBattler's first true appearence was at the end of EP2. Literally every other appearence of his, including the "lesserMetaBattler" were Piece Battler (as we got confirmed via EP1 ???-Party where MetaBattler was still "forming" despite "lowerMetaBattler" already having confronted Beato in the normal EP1 Tea Party, as well as during EP5 later, when we saw "Beato" still being perfectly active as "lowerMetaBeato" despite MetaBeato being in a sort of coma - hence "lowerMeta" characters are based on the piece versions.)
EP3-4 Battler was written & edited by 9^9 so a mix of Tohya's still unclear memories and Ikuko's "artistic spin" on everything.
EP5 and EP6 are harder to pin point. I still am not sure who wrote them in "reality".
Regardless, lowerMetaBattler acts differently in each game, escpacially every set of two. The mystery knowledge seemed rather consistent though. It seems to exist for trivia stuff, monologues and such. However when it comes to the actual memories, they seem to just go poof in smoke. Battler falls for some rather laughably simple tricks for someone who is supposedly a Mystery Geek. Hence why I don't buy that this part was conveniently removed from him to "watsonfy" him.
The problem is, we don't know much about the actual Battler. For example, which Battler is it that "loses at first to win at the end", aka "Genius Battler"? It's kept vague whether that's a trait of just MetaBattler, of just PrimeBattler, or both.

There's a lack of mystery battle stories. Umineko stands out so hard because it's unapologetically silly in its approach to hard murder of family members. Battle and Beatrice fighting over their perspectives of how the various murders were committed in E2 and E3 is so unique that it draws in even the doubters.
You could easily do that as a party game. Just pick a mystery/short story let the witch player and the observer read it, then give the other players a fantastical version of the same story to read.

I read 4+ years ago that the voice data in Higurashi PS2 wasn't organized well, and that making a patch would take an incredible amount of time. Maybe it's still not done and you're getting punked.
To the Ryukishi needs to be able to draw out the plot store. It's still there I think, he just blows at coping with emotions so he's easily manipulated into a tizzy where specifics of that knowledge go out the window.
It wouldn't work because the witch would be incentivised to always give the minimum red required to destroy the blue in order to waste the players time. So you will specifically deny the specific theory they've put forth and make sure not to deny anything else so that the player wastes their time going through each minor detail
