You lose some control in your movements when you're using your strengh, if you want finesse in movements (DEX as I see it) you want to avoid it
For example, when you're drawing something

What would affect attack speed, then? Would it be STR or DEX? Or is that going to depend on the kind of weapon

you need strength to swing something fast or draw the string, I guess dex would just be good for puttin the arrow in place faster

I'd imagine it depends on what weapon and how you are swinging it

I think Disgaea did it well. Guns were pure dex and bows were half dex, half str.

STR should always be raw damage and DEX should always be accuracy plus critical strikes. All weapons should use both stats with a few exceptions like crossbows and magical shit.

But you actually need to use as little strength as possible when drawing a bow, otherwise the tension gets in the way of accuracy. It's why the bow makes that "swing" down in Olympic archery, the bowman is barely even holding it

Honestly, if you wanted to emulate a more realworld scenario you wouldn't use the current "classical" attributes at all. What the fuck is dex used for in a combat scenario? Fumbling chance?

Dex as I see it is how good you are at using your strength. Your thing makes no sense at all, there’s no reason the two should be opposite.
