Been putting off my playthrough since the Expeditions trailer came out.

I bought the game on sale and started a game. I'm up to entering Depot A in the junkyard. (Died to 3 different mines then decided to take a break, I have 3 perception)
Should I stop and wait for expedition then restart while I'm not too far in, or should I keep going?

Well it does come out in two weeks anyway but you might want to read up on how feats work or you will end up like this guy
this game expects you to be smart
learn the mechanics, get friendly with all the items: drugs/utilities/traps, different weapon types, different armors
flares and bear traps will get you through the first area very easily, and if you have to fight the crossbow man, dont be afraid to just manually start combat and throw a grenade at him

you can always do more than one playthrough after the expansion drops
I didn't need to read up on it to understand, just read a few feats. I play a stealthy dude with grenades and thought control/psychokinesis. I cheesed most encounters I couldn't burst down (with tranquility)/change my equipment for/stealth around with forcefield and punched my way through rats in junkyard. My only problem was psi regen.
I'm avoiding reading up on shit to not get spoiled, it's fun to discover all this shit.
I'm gonna wait for the expansion and retard. I love time manipulation stuff in games so I want to do a build with that for my first playthrough. Probably with a sword since they're adding that or some unarmed meme with force emission, could be fun.

I remember playing a chemical pistol build back then and feats are worded as "work for pistols" - but some of those work for chemicals while others don't and the game doesn't tell you at all. For some builds you have to read up on this shit, otherwise you get fucked over with useless feats.
At least read up on how stats and skills work as they can make or break a build completely.
Dex lowers ap cost of light weapons like gloves, knives and pistols more skill in melee=higher chance to hit.
Will speeds up psi regen and you can use a psibooster when low to recover psi even in battle.
Is pure psi viable. Or do you need to mix in a more standard wespon?
I still don't believe he'll actually release it on the 22nd. Every fucking time he says "2 more months!" and then 6 months go by without a word, rinse and repeat for years.
Pure psi is super easy mode but you might want to supplement with grenades early on to deal with groups

Pure psi quite literally breaks the game, it's mongoloid tier difficulty, shit practically plays itself. Every other build requires at least 2 brains cells to rub together before engaging in combat. Psi? Just walk around like a dumb 10 CON nigger and blast shit with your mind.
Got bored last time I played and never finished. Can only rinse and repeat spelunking + monster killing for 40ish hours before I'm sick of it. The world really needs some personality

melee skill, which uses the higher of strength or dex and determines both your accuracy and damage
strength will raise your damage even further (especially with metal gloves) while dex will lower the action point cost of your attacks (and leather gloves are faster than metal ones)

Pure unarmed was fucking hell in the beginning but I turned into an absolute beast in the late mid-game.

it was great
there were only a few things I had trouble with, namely groups of lunatics (especially psychopaths), emp traps (not usually fatal but fuck are they annoying), and a certain blue and white enemy type
he was practically immune to mechanical damage (and could literally be for a few rounds) and hit like a dumptruck
I had him specced to have several ways of stunning or incapacitating enemies so they would sit still and be easier targets and take more damage, and if they were distant, he had grenades and sprint. Normally had frags and flashbangs or frags and tazer.
I kinda wish I had gone with 6 dex instead of agility, so I could get cheap shots and 15 ap attacks with the power fist (often left with 15 ap in a round for a few reasons), but sprint is so helpful I was likely better off.

Yeah, I didn't properly read the dialogue back then so I just continued.
I just dont see how to get grenades or shoot them before the big rats get to me. I try to initiate combat before they see me. But they start the combat instance before I do, and if I do I almost aways miss shots
you buy grenades from lucas in the armory on lvl 2
you can manually start combat by pressing enter (I switched it to the space bar personally)
anyway, when you enter a map, put down some bear traps, then when combat starts, run behind them

Yea i bought like 120 rounds of 5mm but didnt see any nades last I was there, I had a Molotov but threw it at the ratdogs who were trying to eat my dick. Ended up killing 5 of them and becoming a human torch. I bandaged myself and walked into the room with crossbow man who decided to end my suffering.

Wasn't playing with the electrical pistol all the time, switching back and forth between the three but didn't really feel like including the other two pistols in the screenshot as it was already big. As far as I know chemical pistols got some buffs (or will get them in the expansion?) ever since I last played the game and there's also that new belt that gives you +50 % damage on them, which is nice.
well, if you've got a gun, there is a fence in each of those maps that you can get on the other side of, close the door, and shoot the damn things from the other side
use flares to scare them away if you need some time

Throw flares. Rats get spooked by flares. Also shoot through fences, even if you've got shit aim you can spend as long as you want safely plinking at rats through fences.

I made a psy build with that skill that lets you do more psy at full health but also loads of health so I could tank if something goes wrong with my approach

Can you win this game without investing in craft part/skills?
A proper sniper rifle build should be able to use normal guns well enough until you're able to find that unique sniper rifle that allows 2 shots or you're able to craft a better one. I was able to progress smoothly using an assault rifle until I found my first sniper. After that the game turned into a joke.
With enough psi bullshit anything is possible.

Yeah, but you have to be almost full health to. You can also pay doctors to heal you up.
Reminder that guns are the literal worst option and it will be doubly true in the expansion when the lack of direct stat scaling catches up in higher levels. They eat up resources for a very mediocre result.
Monks (both psi and non-psi) are the hard scaling option that are painfully weak early game but later you’ll be fucking Kenshiro getting 5-10 attacks per turn for big damage, you fucking melt anything.
Sledge builds are strong and simple from start to finish.
Pure psi builds are stupidly strong and scale almost as hard as monks.
When does the games start getting good?
I've done the beginning with the outposts and the guy trapped behind psi-beetles and I'm on my way to another place but I can't really feel the world building or anything, it all looks and feels painfully generic
