Depends not really for OG since those are meant to be their own thing so you can learn everything from them but you can appreciate the others a lot more by watching the series for example Z becomes a lot better if you watched 00, Wing and Code Geass for the Real Robot side and Gurren Lagann for the Super Robot side

you need to like at least 5 of the series some of the mechs are from (excluding evangelion) and be really familiar with the Mazinger series.

after that the games are just Fire Emblem but easier, you don't play the game for the game itself, it's mostly fanservice, but it's fucking amazing fanservice.

Not really. Hell some people actually got into more of the lesser anime that got featured in SRW because of it. Generally SRW is good in covering the basic plots of it's series without feeling overwhelming.

That said. You can also play the Original generation games. As the name implies they focus on the OCs of SRW. Although only the GBA games are translated if you want to emulate them. Moon dwellers also got translated but you have to import it

SRW's way of "fixing" things is usually just adding support groups for people who deserved it or throwing the entire plot in the trash and doing something else from the group up. Sometimes it works well like in Z1 where you got to play as both sides of the SEED Destiny shit show or L where they got to talk it out and the entire last quarter of Destiny played out way different, or it doesn't work out too well like in J where G Gundam did not fit in with the rest of the world at all.

Shinn may be the third best pilot in Destiny by the end, but the gap between him and Kira/Athrun is huge.

Mu Lu Flaga is the best non-coordinator in all of SEED and he was able to keep up with the best pilots for the entire series. Mwu did pretty well for someone who was piloting an outdated piece of shit for over half of the series and had to play ship guarding duty.

G-Reco gets shafted a lot in games because it has the same problem Turn-A had. We largely never see G-Self go all out, but, unlike Turn-A with the dark history mystery apocalypse, we don't have anything for the G-Series in Reconguista except the end of UC was fucking insane and nearly killed everyone and they had photon based quantum technologies mastered.

G-Self is still weak compared to Turn-A given that it doesn't have an internal photon reactor and runs off of photon batteries. That's why the torpedoes drained so much energy.
Turn-A's energy source jumps from a gravity based particle collision reactor based on Minovsky Reactors to a straight up mini-black hole depending on who at Bandai Sunrise is writing the materials for it.
If G-Self had the photon reactor installed it would probably be one of the more broken Gundam types with all the shit it can do.

Also, it was really damn good for a Dragon Ball movie, animation was top notch except for the CGI, and even that looked like it was using Arcsys' modified Unreal engine (for the characters at least) and looked pretty damn good for anime CGI. With PS4 you have to create Singaporean or other English asia PSN account, buy prepaid PSN cards of that region, go into PSN store, buy DLC with those prepaid cards and you are done basically.

Pretty much that. But SRPG part is pretty simplistic.
Also great character interactions all around.
Everything prior PS1 era doesn't have great animations or any I might add. Early GBA games had basic one, but then got better. So if you will try SNES or earlier you won't get any animation - just so you know.

Best is depends from person to person, but probably SRW Alpha Gaiden for PS1 - problem is that it is a spinoff of Alpha game which never was translated. So it may get confusing, but I heard it's not that bad.
SRW J (GBA) is pretty well regarded too. Yet to play A Portable (PSP), but it seems it is quite tricky cause of some mechanics to recommed.
People also love SRW OG 1 and 2 for GBA, but it is Original Generation series cause it doesn't have any anime shows in it - just original mecha and characters. Good entry nontheless.

Newer SRW games which got Asia English release have very similar yet a bit more easy than older games. They are pretty decent, but SRW T (PS4/Switch) overall was probably one with the most positive reception I've seen. Still not on the level of older games.

Pretty much, they tend to be easy (although some of the old games are balls hard). They also have kick ass OSTs (both original themes and themes from the various shows). The plots also tend to fix bad shows such as Destiny and make Shinji a badass like in the OP.

V, X and T have official English translations for the SEA versions. They play pretty similar so you should probably pick one based on what shows you like. Also from V onward they started to add scf-fi/fantasy series that aren't technically mecha such as Yamato, Nadia, Harlock and Bebop.

I skipped X since I didn't like the series list or original designs. T is super fucking tedious, the massive enemy numbers and endless reinforcements make Z2-2 feel tame. It's incredibly easy too, I literally only lost one unit in my entire playthrough while getting all SR points, and one SR point required me to restart about 8 times but almost everything else I cleared on my first try. I suppose that's because they introduced hard mode now which doesn't have SR points, so I would very much recommend that. But beyond the gameplay, T's original cast sucks and the story is incredibly weak, both in terms of the original plot and how it ties together the other series.
The final stage is kino though, I can at least give it that much.
Also Nadesico can fuck off, I'm so sick of that shit.

I also forgot to mention that it shit the bed with Mazinger Infinity really badly, which disappointed me since that was one of the things I was most excited for. So lower your expectations for that too.
Infinity's sprite is only slightly larger than anyone else's so the scale of it is completely lost, and Dr Hell only shows up like 2 times in the first half and then completely disappears until near the end where he suddenly shows up with Infinity again as unannounced reinforcements in a Gundam stage, and you kill them both there and that's it. It's a fucking joke. They also cut Koji and Sayaka fucking from T's story, which happened in the movie.
At least you could swap the Mazinger pilots around and do team attacks with Z and Great, that was the one good thing about it.
