Only game I pretty much didn't include that's canon is 4 because not even I can stomach that garbage.

Nah m8, last MGS game I loved was 3. 4 was one of my biggest disappointments in all media and 5 was the definition of mediocre.

Erron Black snipes/shoots and ricochet mechanics are really interesting as fighting game concepts.

She's a sniper because it suits her ridiculous aiming ability, perhaps you forgot all of her other abilities as well.

Pretty much this is the right option except you'd have to:
Remove Quiet and make her a Venom support that he can call out
Switch out Paz for Skullface so that you can make his special where he throws Paz onto the field and explodes her.
Replace Psycho Mantis with Jetstream Sam and make Mantis a stage hazard.

Precisely the opposite, MGR is a shit game because it was a platinum afterthought with half-baked mechanics and the most easily abusable parry system in all of "character action games". Only great Platinum action game is Bayonetta 1.
