Nintendo shares first details on next-gen console

nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-is-striving-to-create-a-controller-that-can-be-used-with-ease-and-that-will-become-the-standard-for-the-next-generation/

>They're looking to innovate again for next generation
>One goal is selling a controller that's new and innovative, while being familiar to people already as well
>Miyamoto brings up controllers from the past, mentions nintendo was the first to bring a d-pad and analog stick, bought motion controls into the mainstream (Wii)
>Says they're happy with the controllers they are offering, but believe they could go further and come up with new, original ideas. They bring up 1-2 switch and Labo as examples
>unknown if next-gen system will be a new switch (switch 2), if it's even part of the switch family at all

Knowing the switch has been out for only 2 years we may not see their next gen system for another 3-4 years. And knowing nintendo and what they've done in the past, it seems like their focus is on innovation and software rather than delivering the highest end specs for gaming.

I thought they were doomed

THIS IS IT BROS, NEXT GEN

Attached: xbox 720.jpg (1000x857, 225K)

I wish they made some highly customizable xbox elite kind of thing, but with motion controls and that can work as separate ergonomic remotes.

>Says they're happy with the controllers they are offering, but believe they could go further and come up with new, original ideas.
Yeah, how about they stop doing that.

Attached: 1535683393796.png (708x2694, 717K)

hm, this should be interesting. guess we'll still have to wait like usual then.

Switch and gyro controls are actually pretty based.

That said, yeah I'm not sure what the hell they're going to rediscover when the Xbox 360 already perfected what a controller should be.

Oh, that's a shame. I actually think that the joy cons are ones of the best controller they have come with, it just needs improvements to become a truly great controller.

BASED

>hammer analogy

Index already did everything Nintendo could have hoped for in innovating upon existing controllers without compromising old features.

the only thing i can think of making controllers better would to have some sort of constant touch/haptic sensors/feedback

but it'd have to be super precise/intuitive to know what you're doing when you make even subtle movements/gestures and i don't think the tech is quite there yet

>without compromising old features.
Then why are they breaking so easily?

>that hammer on chain
Why

Just because you're too much of a brainlet to use the chain hammers doesn't mean they're bad, retard.

Its the Wii phone

Attached: 4B0C0D3E-08ED-4109-8181-0317294FBB00.jpg (300x342, 9K)

It's a feature taken from xbox line.

Sounds good. Boomers like me all know that there's nothing new in terms of gameplay that can be done wtih our current standardized form of video games.

>haven’t released shit for the switch
>already moving on to the next console

Nintendo only has 4 year life cycles for their consoles. This isn't surprising since they quickly run out of rehash franchises to pull from.

I'm ready for next gen:
>Ports
>Zelda BOTW part 3
>More ports
>Mario Kart 8.8
>Animal Crossing again
>Pokemon again
>Smash Brothers again
>Mario does everything again
>Splatoon again

How is this company even exciting anymore when they continue to produce nothing substantial and NOTHING is surprising. Is it just really easy to pander to low-standard, nostalgia neckbeards?

Attached: 05.jpg (1600x1066, 255K)

Hammer and chain is best wepon

The switch controllers are dogshit.

What the fuck is that image even trying to convey?

>switch flopped so hard they are prepping the successor already
fucking kek

Attached: 1538514160635.jpg (2000x1133, 811K)

I reckon we will see a fully modular controller.

I’d buy it

Gyro is amazing and has been since the 3DS. I’m honesty tired of playing the same games on the same controllers I have been since 2003. You can innovate without being gimmicky, like, ya know, the analog stick?

so more wagglan with shit hardware
as expected of nintendo

Let the people who didn't buy a Wii U play those ports user.

2 words
GAUNLET CONTROLLER

Attached: ItsSoBad.jpg (236x240, 10K)

Every company does this though. What, you think Sony/Microsoft's hardware departments have been sitting on their asses for 5 years?

>Those hammer heads attached by a chain
Dead on to what Nintendo has been doing zozzle

Attached: 1536549882386.jpg (560x560, 247K)

a better question is what have all their other departments been doing for the past 5 years?

You´re one of the idiots who think console manufacturers think of designing their next gen hardware in the last few years of their console´s lifetime?

the controller is what immerses you into the game you dweeb

it's only fair they try to improve upon it

No, they are riding the success. Nintendo is the Apple of gaming, they just release a slightly different version of similar hardware for premium prices, while making sequels to the same games every gen.

If they run out of rehashes = they relaunch a new console. They are almost out of games to rehash.

>t.

Attached: received_383166552409128.jpg (785x960, 66K)

Gyro is shit and uncomfortable.

>Nintendo is the Apple of gaming
That would imply that Nintendo releases decent hardware in current years. Which isnt a case.

Nintendo barely even makes sequels.

Ah yes, always blaming and misdirection. Typical response instead of providing some actual arguments.

I have a Shitch, I'm fully aware of its quality and how Nintendo has lost their touch since the Gamecube. Sorry not everyone is a loyal brand warrior for a now shit company that produces 1 or 2 good games a generation.

Better D-pad plus analog triggers is all I need. I don't really see how you could improve the Pro controller much.

inb4 Metroid 4 doesn't come out on the switch

You're dogshit.

Valve’s index controllers are probably the closest to what you’re thinking

Apple specs are shit too though.

Okay name 5 games on the Switch that are original Nintendo title exclusives.

t. Fatass with hand-eye coordination of a palsy patient with chronic sleep disorder

hahaah switch owners get fucked in the ass again

>b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-but a lifespan of 3 years is fine!!

Just like Zelda BOTW?

Why is it that Switch fanboys have the mental capacity of a elementary school kid? Why are you so angry? Did I upset your cult mentality?

>Apple specs are shit too though.
Not in the smartphone business. Yes they´re overpriced but not outdated like Nintendo hardware usually is.

they should go the VR route and rip off Valve's Index controllers that can very accurately capture the position of your fingers
make a good VR system that's convenient and affordable so it can finally take off, because the general public will never care about a $1000 niche gimmick

From a qa perspective yeah. But despite the decrease in battery life from the wiiu controller the switch pro is really nice, primarily due to the gyro.

nintendoids actually believe this

you deserve all the wagglan you get

Nope, pretty fit actually and I sleep great. Thanks for checking though.

Gyro controls are still shit and uncomfortable. I'd rather use a mouse than adjust my wrists constantly like a retard. Gyro adds absolutely nothing to Nintendo titles on the whole, moreso when only one game even uses them to an extent and its a shit casual shooter with a zero competitive scene

Before this devolves into a 20-post reply chain of "it's good", "no it's bad", "no it's good, have you tried it", "no it's bad, yes (but actually no)", watch one or both of these.
youtube.com/watch?v=binPB4YbWmM
youtube.com/watch?v=RZ0xDRkC8LI

Fuck off VRfag. This shit is a gimmick that´s dead.

No, retard. The Wii U was only killed off early because it was a fucking flop. Switch had to be rushed for 2017 instead

Yeah, make cardboard VR 2.0

I can see you're an esl spic, but at least try to use words you understand the meaning of.
Very few Nintendo games are sequels.

make a low effort post, get a low effort (you)

razz all you want at least i can play muh mario games while my arms are relaxed

For Sony, losing money

Once again, a gimmick being used by Nintendo that serves little to no purpose in improving gameplay or features for the vast majority of games. I too remember when Nintendo literally abandoned their last gimmick, 3D, within ~2 years.

Don't quickly read into business speak especially when you're getting it through a layer of translation. Next generation could just be a translation of mirai and not the presumed next console that the English fan community would assume. Nintendo has always aimed to refine control and given that this is just business buzzwords it could easily refer to something even smaller than HD rumble in Switch. Don't expect this to mean that a Wii style shake up is coming.

Attached: 1561497672992.jpg (480x1024, 59K)

No, I have a biochem

>And knowing nintendo and what they've done in the past, it seems like their focus is on innovation and software rather than delivering the highest end specs for gaming.
"Innovation" my ass. They know they cant produce a powerful home console so they try to find a gimmick they can put on their console so that they can sell it.

>They bring up 1-2 switch and Labo as examples
here's your next gen Nintendo controller

Attached: bopit.jpg (570x506, 58K)

No, I have a Biochem Masters and am not Spanish in the slightest. What does that have to do with my question not being answered?

Got cut off

I have a math

all the console hardware is outdated

The Gamecube was no better than what we have now.

>>Miyamoto brings up controllers from the past, mentions nintendo was the first to bring a d-pad and analog stick
Filthy lying radioactive gook kike!

Attached: 1504562011507.jpg (1677x1200, 689K)

i always notice n fanboys get so angry at anything negative shit towards nintendo
christ, relax kids, nintendo isnt a lifestyle or a family member

Watch the video(s).

i'm willing to bet they're probably going to try dabbling in VR again since that's the hottest new meme right now

no clue how they're going to pull it off without it flopping like PSVR or the vive though

>just want a strong console that won't get 15fps on every third party port
fuck

>Gyro is amazing and has been since the 3DS. I’m honesty tired of playing the same games on the same controllers I have been since 2003
then you should stop playing video games you fatass hairy permavirgin basement dwelling manchild

I was about to call this a bad analogy but that's actually fucking perfect

>Miyamoto
God damn it he's fucking shit up again

By making it out of cardboard and having everything run at 15 FPS

>intellivision
>dpad
Stopped reading there

Controllers are pretty much perfect. They don't need innovated any further. Trying to do so just results in weird shit like the switch controller.
What console makers actually need to do is provide mouse support.

Can you just make a console that actually allows Western devs to make tolerable ports? Thanks.

>Dx whut if we took mario, but then it was all bloody lmao

>"hey guys im from 4channel i use words like 'shitposting'"
>continues to unironically call pc gaymers hardcore

FTFY

more like Sony and Microsoft are jabbering about their next systems so Nintendo's under pressure to at least mention SOMETHING in some way

I'm anti-Nintendo, but this image is pure shit and almost seems like a falseflag.
I don't know how the fuck you could call what the Intellivision has a "dpad". And SA2's Mad Space is literally the worst level in the game because of how badly the gravity physics are done. Doing something the best is better than doing something first.

Do you ever get tired of being a console warrior faggot

Cheap Chinese phones are of higher quality to apple products

No, now go buy a PS5 or Xbone Scarlett

the same way the Wii was successful while the PS move and Kinect weren't
make it appealing for the average mom and dad by being simple, and convenient for the core gamer that doesn't want to spend $1500 on a headset+videocard
release it with some accessible fun experience that everyone wants to check out (like Wii Sports did) and some good game that traditional players will want to play
currently VR's biggest hurdles are inconvenience (a bunch of cords, long setup time, big room requirement), price, and lack of killer games or apps

Like?

>Says they're happy with the controllers they are offering, but believe they could go further and come up with new, original ideas. They bring up 1-2 switch and Labo as examples
jesus fucking christ, the switch 2 is going to make the wii u look like a major success. get ready for forced labo gimmicks in every game.

buy Sony's or Micro's console, then
or a PC, for that matter

I'm always confused why Nintendo fanboys like you always blame Sony on everything. It's like anything close to being negative is always the fault of something else. No one can just have a bad opinion, objective or otherwise, about Nintendo unless they have motives for doing so. Why can't something just be shit?

And I'm also confused as to how people claimed Sony people shitpost the most when we have almost 20,000 posts with the word Snoy, with it first being commonly used in late 2018. Almost every instance is either defending Nintendo or shitting on Sony using Nintendo. Why isn't Nintendo the worst fanbase on this board again?

Attached: chrome_2019-07-05_18-12-25.png (664x890, 79K)

>And knowing nintendo and what they've done in the past, it seems like their focus is on innovation and software rather than delivering the highest end specs for gaming.
And knowing water in the past, it seems like it's focus is on being wet and drippy.

>but believe they could go further and come up with new, original ideas. They bring up 1-2 switch and Labo as examples
NO FUCK STOP

Attached: IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES.png (750x432, 495K)

I'm gonna be fucking pissed if this comes out soon. I bought the Switch hoping it would have a decently sized library before the end of its lifespan and as it stands, it's only just barely better than the Wii U's.

Just revamp the Gamecube controller a bit and you have the perfect controller.

>another console
The Switch is gonna get WiiU'd isn't it.

Attached: 1450970939310.png (477x345, 165K)

it already has. it's been two years of no games after they blew their load in year one.
that's all nintendo does anymore: blow their load in year one and then start saving up for the next console launch.

>here's your controller bro

Attached: nintendo_labo_vr_kit_switch_6.jpg (960x960, 153K)

yeah dude sounds feasible and economical for their kiddie target base
fucking retard

>snoyfags literally miss the entire point and have an autistic shitfit the moment they are slightly criticised.
That's why you are the worst fanbase.
Are you denying its snoyfags who claim this interview means anything about the lifespan of the switch

From what I gather
If games were nails, which tools would you use to hammer them in? A nail gun/hammer, or whatever the fuck nintendo came up with?

Either way it's dumb as shit.

No not really. It´s going to be WiiU2 next gen for them. They clearly have no clue how things go outside of their little nip buildings.

That´s rather sad really.

Gyro.
2 controllers working as a pair.
HD Rumble.
All genuinely splendid controller innovations.

Now they just need to go back to symmetrical sticks. And fix the d-pad.
And fuck you for acting like game controllers were fucking perfected 20 years ago. They weren't.

Not everyone who criticizes nintendo likes sony.

???
I have not once insinuated I am associated with or care about Sony. I mainly play on PC and have a Switch. Again, you direct towards Sony as a coping mechanism. Get a life, loser.

Would making basically just an upgraded Switch be a bad business move? I think the Switch right now is just fine on an 'innovative' scale, I just want it to be stronger. Make a stronger switch (basically like the New 3ds) and then make games that take advantage of it's superior hardware. Obviously keep the backwards compatibility for reg. Switch games.

Attached: 1551374526119.png (496x567, 255K)

>"criticises"
more like blatant shitposting.
Show me a single intelligent criticism in this thread that actually has anything to do that was posted in the OP.

Man Miyamoto really is a curse for this company. Let that fucker retire for god´s sake.

no kidding. nintendo finally had their "dualshock" with the gamecube controller: a solid base that could last forever with minor tweaks each generation.
of course, in a typical example of nintendo's stupidity, they dumped it for something far worse instead of fixing its flaws.

That´s what happens when you have out of touch japanese old fags running a company. Next gen is going to be hard for them.

Are you implying Nintendo blew their load in year one of WiiU? It was only Pikmin 3 and some shovelware Lego game.
2018 should have had a bit more and the first half of this year was a drought but stuff is starting to pick up with Cadence and Mario Maker and the rest of the year has plenty of stuff well paced out. Although its a shame DxM couldn't make it out in the first half as it will probably flop at the full price point going into holiday after a packed Summer.
And no, Nintendo is not already saving up for the next generation. Zelda Switch will be out 2020 or 2021 and they'll then be the first to get started on next gen stuff after that. No one is currently working on next-gen stuff unless you count the possibility of Metroid Prime coming out on both like Breath of the Wild.
see

user. The Switch is just barely over 2 years old. We're getting 3 more years minimum out of this thing.

Yes, yes we get it, you have autism and everything and anything negative towards Nintendo is "shitposting" You can leave the thread now captain autism.

god this game looks like putrid shit in handheld, but muh simpleton am i right

ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS TAKE THEIR PRO CONTROLLER, ADD ANALOGUE SHOULDER BUTTONS AND FIX THE DPAD AND THEY HAVE LITERALLY THE PERFECT CONTROLLER IN TERMS OF BUILD QUALITY, INPUT AND GENERAL FEEL

IT'S ALL THEY HAVE TO FUCKING DO

The game was rushed to hell obviously.

lol seethe harder

Attached: 63F19E41-E2FF-4473-9894-3F008282C676.jpg (554x311, 36K)

>being this evasive
Nice try, just answer if you aren't a shitposter.

2* at best. The last year and a half of Nintendo's consoles are always awful and barebones.

I'd add change the face buttons and dpad. Those are terrible. Big ass, mushy face buttons and the dpad isnt there old style.

How can it be perfect without back buttons?

>Zelda Switch will be out 2020 or 2021
yeah, and botw was supposed to be out 2015 or 2016. nintendo says a lot of things. botw2 will get conveniently delayed so they can launch it as a cross-gen title with the switch and the switch 2.

So, gyro aiming was at it's best in early PS3 games is what I got from those videos and the reason some want them in more games is so they can feel like they're l33t instead of just using aim assist like casuals.
btw, never again say the Wiimote is any good at being a precise pointer. It just lets everyone know you're too young to have ever used a lightgun.

>Source: Nintendo
Nice marketing tactic faggots.

Maybe the right word isn't "invented" but "perfected"

Maybe the guys behind the Intellivision really did invent the first d-pad but Nintendo were definitely the first ones that perfected it, and their cross design became the standard for more than 30 years.

>implying kids don't always say they're over 18 whenever the internet asks them

1. This is a matter that goes beyond a single thread
2. You're going to call any example that I give shitposting, regardless of if it actually is

Why would nintendo lie about their consumer age distribution?

No shit, Switch fanboys have the mental capacity of a goldfish

The last year of the Wii was like its best year.
The SNES and N64 were also doing banger in their final year respectively.

How would they even know this information?

These are all misunderstood at best and blatant shitposting at worst.

they're already abandoning the switch?
really?

Next-gen for nintendo means a console that has the graphical capabilities of the PS3. And I thought they would drop the fucking gimmicky shit after the Wii U, what gives? Nobody wants your meme controllers.

>Implying the ones making the statistics don't know about that and adjust the results to be more acurate based on previous surveys vs. the truth.
It's done in every survey that knows asked people sometimes lie.

>a rotating knob
>lets call it a d-pad so that I can shitpost

>little to no purpose in improving gameplay
One stick has two degrees of freedom, so two have four. Due to their nature, they are used for directional controls, easy analogy- "go left".
Mouse has two degrees of freedom, but they are direct, "go precisely here".
Gyro has three degrees just with rotation alone, plus three linear ones that are still largely unexplored as rotation was ebough so far, and all of them are direct so inheritedly more precise than sticks for camera control. And best of all, using gyro doesn't disrupt usage of any other controls, like sticks do to face buttons and D-pad. Imagine how much control you can have with gyro and two sticks, how complex you can make the games.

Holiday next year would be three and a half years from Breath of the Wild
they are reusing the engine and some assets from Breath of the Wild
the leakers who leaked Link's Awakening remake and Cadence of Hyrule said Zelda Switch was aiming for 2020 release
Switch 2 or whatever won't be until 2022-2024 unless they suddenly start doing rolling upgrades like an Iphone
Nintendo will want something to push against next-gen launch in 2020 holiday and to push the pro model that will probably come out then
You are delusional if you still believe its going to be delayed out for three years

try reading the text in the image

Because they dont want to be seen as a kids company anymore? Obviously that doesnt work since they keep putting out those boring rehashes of old kids franchises.

target base =/= manchild buyers

They always start R&D for the next generation the moment they finish their latest generation. This is not new and this is still years away.

>adjust the results to be more acurate
This is one of the most distinctly "slimy marketer/lawyer/journalist" phrases that I have ever read in my life

No? Every company is always working on a new console, but this is just bait.

>email survey
>something with no incentive or enforcement to tell the truth
>something that 90% of the owners won't fill in
Surveys are pure bullshit.

they'll still find an excuse to delay it. they love pulling the cross-gen shit with zelda now.
>b-b-but my leakers!
nintendofag "leakers" also said the grinch leak was real, persona 5 and metroid prime trilogy were getting ported to the switch, and there was going to be minecraft content in smash, among other lies.

I can assure you a good mouse player will always beat a pro gyro user. A pure controller player can likely beat a good gyro player too since it sucks for most games that are competitive. Splatoon is too shit to really assess that.

Nintendo got VR out of their system like 25 years ago when the virtual boy flopped. hopefully they won't invest too hard in revisiting that mistake.

Both the Switch and WiiU already had more power than the PS3
>I thought they would drop the fucking gimmicky shit after the Wii U, what gives?
They did? Miyamoto saying yes I am interested in improving control when prompted by investors means literally nothing. What else would he say?

>two hammers on a chain
that looks like a wii controller, and put bluntly, the wii controller was actually pretty fuckin good from a comfort standpoint if you ignore the IR portion.

Yet still perform worse. Huh.

It's true though. It's done all over the place.

When they don't the results are not acurate enough. Look at any recent election poll that didn't do it, the election results will be shown to be different that expected.

Why the fuck cant they make Switch 2? They know the Switch is doing alright, Why the hell do they have to rock the boat everytime?

Fuck.

At least dont beam censor like snoy

I can definitely see that, the only way I'll ever play that shit is if I overclock the existing Switch with cfw or if the Pro revision increases the resolution
No

>pure controller player
it's easy to win when the game aims for you

>Power to FEEL Glove with touch sensations

The Power Glove's triumphant return!

gyro is a literal game changer, HD rumble is nice too. The other shit is dumb though

>switch is already an innovation that places them in a unique position in the market
>they already want to make the switch u

Attached: 1505569534347.jpg (340x372, 69K)

Nintenshills use Discord to raid Yea Forums with buzzwords

its funny how snoyfags will literally try and use the Wii U against nintendo, but whenever someone brings up the Vita, they start saying it doesn't mater or dont count cuz Sony does not wrong

>"where what the player does is directly reflected on the screen, and the user can clearly feel the result"

Uh-oh... this may be a hint pointing towards exactly that

The easiest way to figure out what Nintendo is doing is to look through projects other companies have been doing for years, potentially with a failed release, then say Nintendo is doing that.
Miyamoto is a lying sack of shit and Nintendo has never done anything first. They're like Apple, wait until someone else makes it and fails then use their brand to make it successful and take the credit.

Just make a decently strong console that isn't 3 generations behind and have a controller like the switch or Wii u with analog triggers and gyro so shooters with gyro support become more common goddann

>nintendofag "leakers" also said the grinch leak was real
grinch shit was literally a random twitter picture that idiots believed and 99% of insiders+leakers immediately called out as fake
>metroid prime trilogy [was] getting ported to the switch
It already has been ported. They are holding it until closer to MP4.
>persona 5 minecraft content in smash
>conflating rumours from bad sources to leaks from clean sources
>they'll still find an excuse to delay it. they love pulling the cross-gen shit with zelda now
Aonuma already said he wants it out faster and they are reusing engine and assets. You are a delusional Nintendo drone if you think they will give it four years of extra development once its already finished just to hold it for the launch of the next console.

New presidents with their own visions. Iwata wasn't responsible for the Game cube and moved the company toward the new paradigm set by the DS and Wii, with the Switch being his ideology perfected. Perhaps if he'd lived, we would be getting a Switch 2. Furukawa has different ideas, I guess.

sorry miyamoto, but controllers were perfected decades ago. only path to go now is brain-computer interfaces

Attached: keyboard-mouse-combo-WIRELESS.png (1000x351, 201K)

Nintendo dont have the technical knowledge to do that. They´re pretty fucking clueless when it comes to online. What makes you think they can produce decent home console hardware?

If they got feedback sent to the console on the movements of fingers in the glove, wouldnt it be perfect for VR? And with HD rumble it would be as close to scifi like haptic feedback.

That or use a pair to play RTS games, Minority Report style with 1 to 1 gesture control.

>When prompted by investor questions, Miyamoto says he thinks control can be improved
>OMG SWITCH U CONFIRMED NINTENDOOMED
I saw Miyamoto at a McDonalds once; therefore, Switch 2 is going to be a hamburger with extra fries.
If his remark ends up as anything it will be something small like HD rumble. How dumb are you people?

Well yeah anybody would rather use a mouse retard, gyro controls are good because they can allow more precision than just regular joysticks in especially shooters.

>keyboard
>perfect
Lmao, might as well claim fightsticks are perfect controllers.

Except if you want to play on the couch or local/splitscreen co-op.

Just so you know, Splatoon isn't the only game with native gyro controls, plus you can implement them on most PC games as well and even those hackjob attempts absolutely demolish any and all stickfags with minimal effort. Gyro loses against mouse because it still has limitations, namely losing a lot of precision on quick abrupt movements, but it can at least put up a fight, that's more than can be said about archaic, unintuitive and fundamentally flawed stick aiming.
With that out of the way, you completely misunderstood the point of my post. Yes, Splatoon, Doom and Gravity Daze's motion controls are awesome, but they ultimately only use two rotational axis on gyro (and one on stick just to stop you from spinning in circles). It's mostly used as baisically mouse emulation right now, which it does well enough but it is only a third of their potential. It can open completely new grounds when devs get a hang of them and make more complex games that wouldn't be possible on prior consoles.

Nah Furukawa doesnt seem to be the type of CEO to give much directions around their next gen system. The ideas are mostly thrown around by the old heads like Miyamoto.

Mouse alone hard-carries the keyboard, keyboards are shite for gaming.
Joycon and mouse is the future

The joycons are pretty solid, albeit the joy stick protection from dust is sort of weak
If they can make something with a proper octo-gate again or maybe some Knuckle-style controller, I'd be down for it

There’s a reason Splatoon has no auto-aim whatsoever while featuring sniper weapons with the sole purpose of eliminating enemy players. The reason is that gyro is just plain better than sticks. You literally can’t play Splatoon without gyro and not get murdered by any casual retard that looks your way.

>Have a home console that's not too gimmicky and close to the power of the PS5 and Scarlet,
>Have the Switch 2 be the companion handheld like the GBA was to the Gamecube

is how I would do things.

>>Have a home console that's not too gimmicky and close to the power of the PS5 and Scarlet,
Too bad that´s never happening. Because of fucking out of touch Nips.

Nintendo Patented scrollwheel shoulder buttons.

This is the only thing, if they plan to add shit, I want them to add to the controller. It's actually smart, has a purpose, and is a benefit. I don't fucking want to have a controll that has a bunch of shit

If you hate Nintendo hardware, that's fine. If you hate Nintendo as a company and all their retarded decisions, that's fine. If you hate Nintendo GAMES, you don't actually like videogames.

>how dare this country’s population have preferences not aligned to my wants and proclivities

They even did a test run already

xd

Wait what the fuck, so we're all just accepting that Ninty will release 2 consoles each gen? This is the biggest jewing of the decade.

That has nothing to with that. It´s just me venting about a dumb company that has to "innovate" in order to sell next gen shit.

Switch is eight gen though. Their next hardware will probably be released at the second half of PS5/Xbox´s lifetime-

The last time Nintendo went full-on power was with the Gamecube and it failed miserably. That road is dead and buried. Nothing but gimmicks from now on, as you should have known considering the past two decades user.

This.

I can't understand how anyone can claim to be a video game enthusiast but NOT play Nintendo games. Any "Best Ever" list is always completely saturated with Nintendo games in Top 20. Nintendo are an incredible developer with genuine artistic integrity.

Attached: 1562277222781.jpg (358x308, 30K)

the switch has been out for 2 years and we're already getting news about the next console
ps4 came out 6 years ago and we're just now getting news about the next console
nintendo is ripping you off

Congratulations, you qualify for membership in Nintendo Club

ONIONS ONIONS SNOY
ONIONS LOL ONIONS!!!!1

Wow imagine having different preferences and tastes other than kiddy shit. Yeah that´s pretty hard thing to think about!

console gens used to. and should be, 4 years/

Just because Sony and Microsoft dicked around in the 7th gen and decided to keep those consoles going to 8 years doesn't mean Nintendo should.

Or just play it in tv mode? Looks perfectly fine, actually one of the better looking games this decade.

It'll be something like an ultra-simplified knuckles.

Attached: knuckles-ev2-next-to-older.jpg (1124x632, 172K)

Gyro is infinitely more accurate than analog stick, I can't even go back to analog stick aiming after BotW.
It's either KB+M or Gyro when it comes to aiming, nothing else.

>kiddy shit.

Yeah, goes to show what a pleb you are. You must be absolutely baffled every time you see a Nintendo game top a Best Ever list.

>REEEEEEEEEEEE! I don't care!

Ok.

>>Says they're happy with the controllers they are offering, but believe they could go further and come up with new, original ideas. They bring up 1-2 switch and Labo as examples

When will this meme end? Prior to Wii, Nintendo always had the highest specs

>claim to be a video game enthusiast but NOT play Nintendo games
They only have two must play franchises, 3D Mario and 3D Zelda. Shit like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and Smash are not system sellers. Those games haven't changed in decades, play any version and you'll be caught up. And Metroid is dead.

Eh there´s absolutely nothing announced with the next gen Nintendo stuff in that Q&A. They just talk about possibilities.

vocaroo.com/i/s0EkDdSP8xuN

>I can't even go back to analog stick aiming after BotW.

Same. Motion Controls in place of a button press will always be shit - because there's no tactile feedback.

But for aiming? Its fucking superb.

>it has high scores so it must be good!!!
Yep, Skyward Sword was one of the best games of the decade. Don't argue with review scores dummy

Thanks for the beta testing switchfags

>& KNUCKLES

The intellivision doesn't have a dpad you idiot. You've clearly never used one

They are going into VR. Only thing I could think of..unless they are going back to wiimotes.

How about they learn how to make a fucking dpad first.
I bought a fucking chinese toy for $30 and it's dpad blows the Switches and Wii Us out of the water

Attached: file.png.jpg (960x960, 64K)

>Shit like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and Smash are not system sellers.

Are you sure?

>selling a controller that's new and innovative
STOP FUCKING DOING THIS NINTENDO

Attached: 1500834514065.gif (257x200, 1.24M)

Xbox trumps the GameCube handily. SNES is better than the genesis in some ways but worse in others, and they end up about equal.

N64 destroys of course

They´re never going to recapture the Wii casual craze. They´ve moved on to smarthphones now.

This a GBA knockoff or a emulator kind of thing?
>PocketGo
sounds legit
funnily enough the saturn has the best d-pad out of all of those

How the fuck do we stop Nintendo Yea Forums?

Attached: Top-20-Game-Lists.jpg (3000x1460, 3.59M)

Yes I am sure, no normal person can tell the difference between mario kart versions, they're all the same.

LMAO that image was made by a desperate butthurt moron.

You might as well include pic-related and claim Nintendo copied it for their GameBoy system. That's how fucking stupid and redundant it is.

Attached: Tomy-water-world-traditional-toys-water-game-machine-free-shipping.jpg_640x640.jpg (640x640, 107K)

>joycon

Attached: vomiting.jpg (259x194, 8K)

>casually invented water physics in games
Respect the originals, nintentoddler.

Fire the old heads at the top and change Nintendo´s whole console strategy to compete with the others.

It's an open source emulator thing. Does everything up to 4th gen

Saturn has such a good dpad that even the 3rd party controllers that can't perfectly mimic it like the retrobit have a good dpad

Keep telling yourself that, maybe one day your delusion will be the reality.

>Because they dont want to be seen as a kids company anymore?
You mean sony. Don't lied to yourself trannie

> Half-Life 2, Portal, KOTOR & Undertale are literally the only mainstream popular PC games
Defend this boomers

>Yes I am sure, no normal person can tell the difference between mario kart versions, they're all the same.

Every Nintendo system generally only gets ONE installment of those franchises you dumb fuck. Did you forget how much Smash sold last Christmas?

I genuinely do not see the appeal of Super Metroid, especially compared to SotN and later Castlevanias

LEL are you real faggot? Sony as a console manufacturer is probably the last one to be concerned about their image for casuals and gamers.

Though I do find their censorship policies to be completely dumb and unnecesary.

If gyro aiming is so based, then why we haven't got Call of Duty port for Switch yet?

What the absolute fuck are you talking about? Even back in the Super nintendo days nintendos specs were arguably worse than segas. They had to fill their cartridges with expensive chips to be able to compete. N64 was bottlenecked nightmare hardware, and the gamecube was a massive step up but even weaker than the ps2 at the time.

>why we haven't got Call of Duty port for Switch yet?

Please keep that shite away from my Switch.

because the target audience is somewhere else

t. gyro user that has aim assist.

Most big 3rd party companies dont give that much of a shit about Nintendo in 2019. The only thing they would do is put full price old ports on the thing.

And people will eat that obviously.

Call of duty sells like shit on nintendo systems, demographics and tastes are much different and it isn't worth the porting costs.

>There’s a reason Splatoon has no auto-aim whatsoever
Yeah because it has massive hitboxes, weapons with huge splash damage, partial hitscan, and shitty low tick rates on their servers. Its why it has zero competitive scene outside of Nintendo organized crap. Show me someone do well on Rainbow Six Siege with gyro aim.

This image doesn’t make sense, at all, not even a little bit. Simply pathetic.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo doesn't try to go the LeapMotion route. There is already a stripped down version of it in the right joycon.

>partial hitscan,
Exactly, the lack of hitscan requires even more precision, something only gyro can allow on consoles.

What i wish
>Switch becomes the new portable that can also plug into the wall, and is decently powerful enough to run great games
>In 2 years Nintendo releases a normal console with specs comparable to ps5 and xbox scarlet

but Nintendo never does this. Its like they never realize their mistakes with the gamecube/n64 and just assume nobody will buy their consoles unless there is a gimmick.

>bought motion controls into the mainstream (Wii)

if they are so mainstream why did everyone abandon them including nintendo?

I'm talking about the COOL motion controls with the sensor bar, not the gyro meme that loses calibration every 2 seconds, fucking niggers

>huge hitboxes
lol no
>splash damage
I specifically mentioned chargers.
>rainbow six
If that .webm is anything to go by, yes, gyro would destroy stickfags.

Honestly i think joycons nailed it, except that the analog sticks start drifting after a while. Fix that shit and im pretty happy

Because they have to "innovate", according to Mister Miyamoto.

I love how gyrofags always try to go for the low-hanging fruit of it being better than sticks while completely ignoring the concept of using a mouse to aim
>but you can't use a mouse on console
Yeah, that's the problem.

Gyro plus analog stick is better than a big ass flat keyboard and mouse.

>using a mouse for platformers
>using a mouse on a couch
Not everybody is autistic enough to want to use different things for movement and aiming, because a keyboard is shit for anything analog.

If the gyro sensor is adavanced enough, it's identical to a mouse. The same wrist motion is responsible for directing the laser in your mouse and a gyro in your hand.

Gyro just needs "laser" precision.

>>using a mouse for platformers
What the fuck kind of a "gotcha" is this? Nobody's talking about platformers. I could also say
>using gyro for platformers
and it would be just as retarded.

What news? We literally don't know anything.

Because controllers are the one input method people want to use, not everybody is autistic enough to want an entire second KB+M setup for a few shooters.

So, DS have enough target audience to get five CoD games but not Switch?

>If the gyro sensor is adavanced enough, it's identical to a mouse.
Yeah, you just explained why gyro is shit. You need a super advanced gyro just to match a regular mouse.

>A pure controller player can likely beat a good gyro player
>Show me someone do well on Rainbow Six Siege with gyro aim.
show me someone do well on Rainbow Six Siege with a controller first, fucking faggot

Attached: analog_stick_aiming_1.webm (960x540, 2.93M)

Based on the games listed the most from that picture, these are the GOAT's.
> 1. Zelda: OOT (1998, Nintendo, N64) (12/12)
> 2. Final Fantasy VI (1994, Square, SNES) (11/12)
> 3. Chrono Trigger (1995, Square, SNES) (11/12)
> 4. Shadow of the Colossus (2005, Sony, PS2) (10/12)
> 5. Super Metroid (1995, Nintendo, SNES) (10/12)
> 6. Metroid Prime (2002, Nintendo, GCN) (9/12)
> 7. Zelda: ALTTP (1991, Nintendo, SNES) (8/12)
> 8. Zelda: BOTW (2017, Nintendo, Switch) (8/12)
> 9. Resident Evil 4 (2005, Capcom, GCN) (8/12)
> 10. Super Mario 64 (1996, Nintendo, N64) (8/12)
> 11. Castlevania SOTN (1997, Konami, PS1) (8/12)
> 12. Metal Gear Solid (1998, Konami, PS2) (7/12)
Thoughts on this Yea Forums?

keyboard and mouse are fucking trash for most genres. don't kid yourself.

youtu.be/KnecYWlURDY?t=472
This has nothing to do with anything, but does anyone remember what area of OoT the music in the background of this video is from?

>not everybody is autistic enough to want an entire second controller setup for a certain genre of game
What are guitar controllers and steering wheels?

Attached: GUITAR%20HERO%201[1].jpg (1781x805, 360K)

I can think of only three: racing, platformers, and fighting games. For all action/adventure, strategy, RPG, and first and third person shooters kb+m is better

>Shitch
Fuck off, snoygger.

Something most people don't want to deal with.
If over one in a thousand players has one for a current gen system, I would be suprised.

>Applel
>decent hardware
Literally has not been remotely close to that ballpark since thier 2016 hardware rolled out.

At least Nintendo consoles use industry standard memory storage, which is more than what can be said about anything from Apple's modern hardware lineup.

Attached: applel hardware.png (1883x1807, 2.2M)

Switch is prob gonna be the standard for the future nintendo consoles. Expect new innovations to still be new versions of the Switch, they arent gonna get rid of the whole Hybrid Console thing anytime soon

All I ask is 60 fps and a decent controller Nintendo.
Please...

From what I've played:
>OoT, SM, ALttP
shit
>MP, SM64, SotN, MGS
good

And I don't want to deal with shitty-ass gyro controls on a weird gimmick controller.

>Nintendo is the Apple of gaming,
Nah, I can think of another company that fits.

They give that every gen.

I had to buy a Pro controller for Switch tho.
Also the 60 FPS part is true for games like Smash, MK8D, Bayo 2 but there are a lot of games having loss even at 30 FPS.

I like the Switch but it brings bad features :
-paid online
-soulless interactions between players
-Drifting Joycon after months of usage
-Accessories price is way too high

what a single snowflake like you want is irrelevant.

To be fair, this gen Nintendo has been laxer with their commitment to 60fps
>Breath of the Wild
>Astral Chain
>Link's Awakening
>Xenoblade 2

>>They're looking to innovate again for next generation
>>One goal is selling a controller that's new and innovative
I'm already tired of it.

those hammers look fucking fun

Classic nintendo, using gimmicks to sell shitty hardware since 2006

>Slightly different
Nice meme, Nintendo is literally the only big game company that doesn't just rerelease the same console with better specs. I don't really care for the gimmicks they add, but at least it's something.

The vita is great hardware outside of the memory stick.
It only failed cause Sony decided to push more with ps4 alone and dropped all game development for the vita way too early. There's a reason it sold mostly in Japan, that's where the games were. People like the vita and wanted more games for it. Sony just ignored them and never released a version with microsd storage and stopped making games.
It didn't die because it was bad it died cause Sony let it die.

The wii u is the opposite. Nintendo fully backed that shit releasing some amazing games. But the hardware wasn't very good, the name didn't help sales, and the gimmicks were to heavy. It was all hardware fault.

Attached: 50411465_901406650066690_4565500259408543744_o.png (1080x549, 481K)

>Nice meme, Nintendo is literally the only big game company that doesn't just rerelease the same console with better specs. I don't really care for the gimmicks they add, but at least it's something.
I like Nintendo, but come on, user. That's literally what happened for GBC, DSi, and N3DS.

>nintendo was the first to have an analog stick
Wrong. That was Sega with the 3D Saturn controller.

Attached: Saturn_MK-80314.jpg (1940x2220, 1.65M)

gyro exist before though on PC and its dogshit. You will never have 1:1 accuracy

>Miyamoto
FFS shiggy go ahead and retire already. Your so out of touch its beyond pitiful.

Attached: 1469318958772.jpg (540x405, 45K)

Seriously this

Symmetrical sticks? Swallow a dozen dicks, you fucking cunt. What a fucking idiot you must be to prefer symmetrical sticks.

Name a practical and common benefit of those that isn't an item wheel.

Aiming can be more precise

but the point is that snoyfags use the Wii U's failures for everything Nintendo does foward
>all other Nintendo Consoles Die at the same time Sony and Microsoft system dies, but wii u died half gen
>>I BET SWITCH WILL BE ABANDONED HALF GEN TOO LOLOL

>Is it just really easy to pander to low-standard, nostalgia neckbeards?
Yes.

just make a fucking traditional console with unique hardware. that's all they need to do. no gimmicks. no stupid shit. just make a normal console and i promise you it will outsell the ps5 and xbone 2

>someone smart enough to realize the Wii U's issue was it's hardware
Wow I thought I was the only one

Nah, I think Switch's edge is the portability.

I thought PlayStation had the first analog stuck? Didn't people make a big deal about the PlayStation classic not including it

>Why isn't Nintendo the worst fanbase on this board again?
They are and always have been but Yea Forums has always been Nintendo central thanks to a culture of fanboy goons encouraging rabid Nintendo fanboy faggotry as being the norm.

You realize that Nintendo doesn't make consoles anymore, right? The Switch is a portable. The're talking about the successor to the Switch, i.e. their next portable.

That came after the n64 controller, retard

I figured they’d offer a switch 2.0 and then maybe go insane the gen after that. Impressive if they’re just going straight nuts

Anyone who says that is an idiot. Nintendo has enough money to never be doomed. Even if they were to screw up multiple gens in a row.

>rather than delivering the highest end specs for gaming

Switch was literally the most powerful a portable could be in 2017 without making it unaffordable. Nintendo's hardware is more overpowered relative to portables than Sony's or Microsoft's are relative to consoles.

Someone has a persecution complex

But that's what phones are for, no one plays with handhelds outside anymore

>Would making basically just an upgraded Switch be a bad business move?
Call it the Switch U.

30+ Million and still going nigga.

>Nintendo discovers the ultimate undeniably perfect controller even if the hardware is low spec
>everyone adapts it ushering in a new dawn of perfect control
Best future

You're a special kind of idiot, aincha?

The reason why Switch's portability works is because people can catch up on their backlog.

The student learns from the teacher after all.

Nintendo could literally sell a box of shit for 2 console generations and still have enough money to mantain a business mostly because nintendtards would still buy it

Sony is too far up its own ass to significantly change the DS.
MS is good with controllers but will not adopt gimmicks or anything too unconventional after getting burned once.
Someone could make the perfect controller tomorrow and neither would go beyond slight modifications to their models without literally the entire market boycotting them.

It came out before, but was made in response to seeing the N64s analog stick. It's also not even required for the game it was made for (nights) while Mario 64 requires the analog stick

>wiiu

Are you retarded? Honest question, because you clearly have no idea what a investor meeting is like or about. When they talk about things on their own, that's the real information. But when they are answering stupid investor questions, which is all of them, its PR speak to shut them up. Pay no mind to this shit, it was just said to shut that person up because they asked a stupid question. The question is in the same basket of questions investors of the past have asked, such as "Nintendo need to pay my bus fare that I paid to get here" and "I want Nintendo to buy us more comfy chairs to sit in for these meetings".

That whole controller thing just sounds like trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Attached: 1516868856111.jpg (325x367, 16K)

I just want a normal D-Pad, please.

lesson learned, never sell a shitty nintendo console without bribing people using zelda and mario launch titles

NSMBU was a launch title, wasn't it?

N64 controller released like a week before nights in Japan, which is when the 3d pad was released to my knowledge

>bribing people by selling them games in order to sell them consoles
600 iq

sorry i meant the mario-64 style ones like sunshine galaxy, new smb will never sell consoles

they sell 3 games worth playing within 2 years of its launch and then abandon it, just like with the wii. i haven't touched this stupid switch in over a year and i have no intention of using it again, i'm not supporting these scamboxes anymore. if nintendo wants me to play their games it'll be on a console with real hardware next time

Nobody gives a shit, fag.

>huge hitboxes
lol no
LOL yes, hte hitboxes are fucking huge

>splash damage
I specifically mentioned chargers.
????

>rainbow six
If that .webm is anything to go by, yes, gyro would destroy stickfag
LOL

>show me someone do well on Rainbow Six Siege with a controller first,
Pretty much anyone without gyro aiming is better than a retard aligning his wrists.

How new do you need to be to not even use meme arrows correctly?

No physical copies, no buy.

>focusing on more gimmicky controllers
never change nintendo

naw playing with both hands stretched out in different directions is the best and ur just retarded

What makes you so sure that Nintendo isn't just planning on releasing a new controller?

>nintendos specs were arguably worse than segas
>N64 was bottlenecked nightmare hardware
>gamecube was a massive step up but even weaker than the ps2 at the time
How can one person be completely wrong about everything?

when every problem looks like a nail, then every analogy to explain said problem will be a hammer

GIVE ME THE CHAINHAMMERS
I NEED THEM

>Super Smash Bros. style games weren't invented by Super Smash Bros.

Even if mouse was available it isn't very convenient to use on on a couch. Gyro allows precise aiming while keeping the convenience of a controller.
You're also forgetting about games that play better on controller but need precise aiming only occasionally. Gyro aiming is perfect for these.

>and make more complex games that wouldn't be possible on prior consoles.

Like ARMS?

Literal Dogshit again. Expected as much from faggot Nintendo these days.

>Implying Nunchucks hammers aren’t metal as fuck
If Wii motes had more accurate gyro it would unironically be an S tier controller

Sony and MS did the same as well, you know.

It’s literally 90% mouse 10% hot keys
You could rip away 90% of a keyboard and it would be an improvement

Personally GameCube didn’t really fail
PS2 just sold that much.
Remember it was also a cheap DVD player

That's a thing.

Does it play battle toads?

I think we actually have the tech to make the Power glove not completely trash though what about sweat though?

>The fan base that does constant shitposting is now associated with constant shitposting
You pissed in your sleeping bag now sleep in it.

Only let him out for Ramen and making a new 2D Mario game that’s it

>first details on next-gen console
>it's just them talking about basic controller aspirations to some faggot shareholder
Fuck you, OP

Well fuck.
I didn’t actually expect that to be a thing.
