C'mon it wasn't THAT bad...right ?
>Revolution
Absolutely based
How's the PC version? That was the one I played.
Same, but then I found out about the cut content. What were they thinking?
I remember playing the N64 version and getting my fucking ASS handed to me. Easily the hardest game on the N64. Those fucking rocket sections, that fucking chair segment, and those goddamn thorned tentacles that come out of the wall, mother of fuck.
This game is almost on as many consoles as Resi4.
Is Rayman 2 the best game in the series?
Me too, I still think the final boss is cooler. But yeah cut content is shit.
my last lums were 3 that were at the start of one of those races, they were just at the start but you had to look back and it took me forever to find them
Easily. 1 is mediocre, and nu-rayman are just blatant ripoffs of better platformers.
Though I never played 3 and have only rarely even heard someone mention it before. It must've bombed like crazy.
When are we getting a 3D rayman again
I've only played 1 (in my childhood) and Legends, which I did like. Interested in checking out some more however so I might try 2 and 3. For 2 the best version is PC?
Better then the Dreamcast version, Worst than PS2 due to lack of the open hub world and extra content imo.
I don't fucking know. Who the hell has played more than 1 version of 2?
The hub always seemed pointless and boring to me. There was nothing wrong with a level select screen.
3 is kino
youtube.com
Emulate the PS2 version of 2. 3 is fine to play on PC I think.
Cool, appreciate it. Going to give them a shot.
Not him but I would recommend downloading the 60fps pnatch when emulating the PS2 Version, if your computer is able.
N64 has the comfiest music though
This is undeniable fact
But the music is objectively worse.
Debatable, though the PS2 version of 2 is one of my favorite games ever. 3 dials up the humor and has more of an action-platformer vibe than 2, but it's worth trying out for the incredibly vibrant levels, great OST and altogether fun gameplay. Rayman 1 is bursting at the seams with color and creativity, but it was not playtested and it fucking shows. Worth playing, just bear in mind it has some massive difficulty spikes. Arena/M were decent-ish multiplayer spinoffs, but kinda forgettable. Raving Rabbids is a decent-ish party game, but it marks the point where the spinoff-mania just dragged the main series off. Origins/Legends are fun and challenging (especially vanilla Origins) platformers and I'm still fucking furious at Ubi for not using the engine of those games a lot more, because it's beautiful.
Don't worry much about story or continuity, there are some reoccurring elements, but continuity within the franchise is just nonsense and can be discarded. 2 and 3 are possibly the most "complete" from a lore standpoint.
Basically, aside from the Rabbids titles, they're all pretty solid 2/3D platfomers. The creator wants to make a new one eventually, so I'm more or less hoping they bring back concepts and characters from 2, especially pic related.
3 was kind of ass, yeah
Think 2 but ultra linear, shitty rareware type temporary powerups for puzzlesolving, with hip zany capeshit tier "sassy" voice acting for everyone and an absolutely retarded plot. I never understood why anyone hated Murfy before I played 3.
*better
Only zoomers think midi is bad.
>Raving Rabbids
I know a guy who bought that thinking it was a new rayman platformer. We spent 15 minutes trying to find out how to get past the minigames and get to the actual good stuff.
His fucking face when he realized that's all there was, oh my god
Never finished it because for some reason it had awful loading times on my PS2
I wasn't awed by the hub world either
I've only played Legends, does that make me gay?
Based Ly poster
Yeah, it doesn't help that for the longest time, it was billed as a 3D platformer, right down to the original trailer. Unfortunately, Ubi decided to trample it into a party game instead.
With that said, the GBA version of Raving Rabbids was still a platformer! I think it was too easy and suffered from same-y levels, but it was decent enough. It also featured Ly, funny enough, even though she wasn't in 3 (except for, once again, the GBA port).
Legends is pretty good
Dreamcast hub world is ass. fight me.
With characters like Barbara around? Nah.
>no teeth
Fucking nips wouldn't know quality character design if it bit them on the ass.
I tried 1 some years ago and haven't touched it since I couldn't get past the bees or something.
3(HD)'s combat feels terrible and the combo system for levels isn't all that fun.
Is she the best character in the series?
wrong country m8.
>fucking nips
Made by french tho..?
How the fuck did this beauty end up like this vomit-incuding harlot?
>>Tfw i grew up with the PS1 version and loved it.
Same, and the spanish version nonetheless
PC / PS1 / N64 overworld : SOUL
Dreamcast / PS2 overworld : SOULLESS
PC version a best
PS2 hubs is bleeding soul, m8
The combo system pretty much relies on you already knowing and planning how to progress through the level, as well as every possible secret area. As a first time player, you'll likely get hit with sub-par scores through not much fault of your own, simply because you don't have everything down to a science yet.
I've a soft spot for Ly the most, but Barbara and the other princesses are pretty fine additions. They have varied and fun designs, and their animations all project the idea that they're having fun. It's a small thing, but just having characters visibly enjoy their romp goes a long way in remembering them more fondly.
how's the 3DS port?
Shit.
Having played most versions with the exception of N64, I think all of them are pretty good, it honestly kind of sucks there's really no actual complete version that has everything.
I prefer Revolution's hub simply because it makes the world feel more whole. It was nice seeing characters like Clark, etc, out in the wild, rather than confined to a couple appearances.
Probably one of the top 5 games to come out of europe. Gods we were strong then.
Most the smaller EU studios seemed to have either died out or fallen for just working on shovelware, sadly.
Best one.
Imo, yes. 1 is a close second and would be the best if it was slightly less dumb. Everything that came afterwards is okay but not great.
revolution -> useless and boring new content
dreamcast -> souless hub world
>seeing the characters more is bad
>an island hub instead of a hallways is bad
You've lost me on this.
>an actual boss fight for the forth mask
>useless content
The fucking delusion
S O U L
PC version was fine, but I wouldn't call it the best
>No team b new content
>60 fps
i disagree
Rayman Revolution is the best version:
>Open World Hub filled with SOUL, Comfyness onpar with Spyro 2 hubs, and connects seamlessly with the Levels.
>Upgrade Shop where you can use lums as currency
>You can get the 1000th Lum.
>Extra Bosses, including a boss for the 4th mask
>Lum Magnet
>More Places to Fly over Lava
>More character interactions in the Hub, e.g Clark saving your ass, before he gets sick
>Optional Voice acting
>Zombie Pirates
>Bonus Two player Minigames
Downsides:
>Longer loading times (fixed with Emulation)
>30 Fps (fixed with Emulation and a pnatch file)
RAYBROS POST THE ULTIMATE THEME OF RAYMAN
youtu.be
This game's soundtrack had some stanky bass.
>No team b new content
what are you even talking about
>Clark saving your ass, before he gets sick
Clark was a bro, it was great to see more of him
Revolution was made by Ubisoft Annecy, not Ubisoft Montpellier
he looks pised off
Ancel said he wants Rayman 4 after Beyond Good & Evil 2.
yes and god knows when that is
It's not unplayable. But it's objectively the shittiest version of the game. You'd best just replay the better versions because going back to that one will make you realize you hate it.
2 is Ninten-drone overhyped shit. 2 was a great game, but 3 was the same game without the edgy melodrama. 1 was revolutionary as of the time, only zoomers have shit taste saying otherwise. All 3 games before Origins were top notch games. Mario stole all attention from Rayman, Sonic too, and then you had Crash, Spyro, Jak and Daxter, Sly, Rachet, etc. Rayman at the time was in a sea of other competition with no main home to speak of, he was everywhere while Mario is Nintendo, Sonic had SEGA systems but went to Nintendo, then the rest was on PS. Rayman had nothing but to shill on everyone's property.
rayman 3 really did have some groovy shit
youtube.com
Rayman 3 was fine, even if it started the trend of the ip making fun of itself´. It was really short too, I barely remember any level being tedious
Really do hope we get a new Rayman soon, I don't care if it's 2D or 3D I just want to play a new one. The series has always been my low-key favorite platformer series, I've never found any of the games to be objectively bad.
Spotted the Sonyshitter. Rayman 1 was mediocre and had nothing against its contemporaries nor games that predated it by several years on far weaker systems.
T H I C C
>Spotted the Sonyshitter
The the game was on gameboy, PC, saturn, and it was originally intended to be a fucking jaguar exclusive.
the PS1 version isn't bad, and while it's far from the definitive version of the game it's definitely one of the ports people should check out even if it's just out of curiosity
Rayman 1 was a pretty good platformer, just suffered from lack of playtesting. Music was great, levels were varied and it had a great aesthetic. I think the only platformer I liked more at the time were the Oddworld games.
God bless the french.
