Last Gen was the worst yet for every console involved, the Wii U, PS4 and XBox One are all the worst consoles yet from the big three.

Do you think the current gen will be much better once the PS5 and Xbox One Two are out?

Hell yeah
8K in 120FPS for $500 will banish PC gaming into irrelevance

user please, I didn't make this thread just to see the same 5 variations of shitposts that we see all day every day. I'm genuinely curious if you think things will get better or not.

We can only go up from here.
Personally, I don't know where I stand on how good the next gen will be since I loved this gen (atleast the ps4)
Granted I'm a filthy casual and I'll admit that, so a lot of this "120 fps 4k widescreen 1080x820" whatever doesn't bother me much.
As long as the games are fun and worth playing, then that's enough of a success to keep me happy.

i dont think things will be any better. things are at the point where consoles are just budget PCs that run games worse and have paid online. back in the ps2 era consoles and PC got different kinds of games, so there was a spot for both and you couldnt play a large majority of games on PC. but now that everything comes to all 3 consoles are just an option for poor people. im not counting nintendo here because they are the only place to play their games and they havent competed hardware wise since the gamecube.

But the PS4 had almost nothing but multiplats, Sony has basically stopped doing exclusives

7th generation was way worse

>RRoD
>no-games station dreadful launch
>nintendo made a wagglan system that was only popular for 5 months
>was all about multiplats, had no identity of its own
>introduced massive DLC

The OP image is so old the wii U game pad has the early cirlce pad design

All three of those consoles got exclusives.
Wii U, PS4 and Xbone have serious game problems.
Wii U admittedly had more exclusives than the others, but as far as Nintendo consoles go its still one of if not their worst console yet in terms of library.

If you only judge console by their exclusives then yes, they will always get worse and worse since game development costs are way too high to let them have anything but multiplats.

Im wondering why people are talking about exclusives when the thread is moreso about the Gen as a whole.

If were talking about the entire console generation why does it matter which console whatever game came out on?

>If you only judge console by their exclusives then yes, they will always get worse and worse
What else is there to judge consoles by?
Everything else about them is always done better on PC, literally all they have ever had going for them was their exclusive games.

Who gives a fuck, we all have a PC, why would we buy consoles?
For the pleasure to have censored, downgraded, overpriced, shitty games?

I'll wait for the few good games to be ported to PC or emulated.

True, but the multiplats were fun so it was still worth owning a console for them.

>so it was still worth owning a console for them.
not really, thats what a computer is for.
This used to be true back in like the N64/PS1 era, since PC games never got console ports and console games almost never got PC ports, so every platform had a mostly unique ecosystem of games and the multiplats were all really different from each other.

These days multiplats are almost exactly the same, the only difference is that console ports have way less options and are locked to a low graphical level. Literally no reason to get them on a console over PC.

WiiU has more exclusives than the 360

If you're a pc person sure, it's definitely the way to go. I'm satisfied with just buying a easy plug n play system and buying another in 5 or 6 years, instead of constantly worrying about having the newest hard drive or hoping the game I bought works on my computer to begin with.
Pc definitely has the better performance/custmization, but I'd rather just put in a disc, sit on a couch and enjoy. No need to worry about booting it up, then spending awhile in settings messing with graphic options, etc.

with the introduction of "pro" consoles this gen it is a genuine worry if a game will run on your machine. I played the spyro trilogy on my X, and my mom got it on her base ps4. the game stuttered like crazy and hurt to look at for too long

Yeah the "pro" idea is kinda meh, but nothing we haven't seen before.
Gameboy advance sp, dsi (which *did* run some games better than the lite), I think the ps2 slim also ran some stuff better? Not to sure on that one, correct me if I'm wrong.

this

No, Sony have already said they want to make fewer games. I don't even know how the fuck that's possible.
