At 60 You swap out fire for fire IV, but it won't refresh astral fire so you need to throw in a fire after every three fire IVs. At that point BLM becomes a matter of throwing out as many fire IVs as you can without dropping astral fire, since it's tied to enochian. You then get Foul at 70, which gives you another big hitting spell every 30 seconds. At 72, you get despair, which is a single target astral fire finisher similar to how flare is an aoe finisher. You'll now want to throw out fire IVs without dropping AF, and throw in despair before you switch back to umbral ice to recover mp, umbral hearts, reapply thunder, and throw out foul and later on xenoglossy. The job becomes pretty busy and has come a long way from spamming fire to bait firestarter procs.

When there's two tanks you have a Main Tank and an Off Tank. Main Tank takes all the aggro and Off Tank mainly just does damage or grabs extra targets during boss fights.

Don't worry about those last two dungeons, everyone runs them super fast due to the annoying unskippable cutscenes and the fact that everyone's item level is so high compared to them now. They play at a pace unlike any other content in the game, so they're not really representative of anything.

It's a bit of a slog and only starts coming together when you get fire III, blizzard III and the trait to unlock astral fire/umbral ice III, then again when you unlock flare. Tank limit break is a fucking joke and should be reworked. Give melee a groupwide damage buff and the single target attack to tanks. You'll use the damage buff in most situations for overall more damage but if something needs to be immediately bursted down then you use the single target one

If a buff is too hard to balance literally just give them the faster one then since the current one is so fucking awful and never used

Dragonsight had 1/2 its range prebuff, BoTD was 15 instead of 20 seconds, couldnt keep BoTD during aoe pulls either. It's a lot better now but it felt like a major hassle on release. Damage was also pretty meh until 4.1 when they buffed a ton of stuff.

Well it's great because he doesn't come completely out of nowhere, he's introduced a little bit before the halfway point and tags along with the group for a little while. They use this time to firmly establish his character and motivations, so then when it looks like the story's reaching a natural conclusion with the Exarch sacrificing himself Emet can come in and completely hijack things. It doesn't even come out of left field because he's an Ascian and you knew he had to have something planned, you just didn't know what. Then you have an entire final area dedicated to explaining ancient ascian society, which explains the truths behind his motivations.

It's just so damn perfect.

I cover these niggers, I heal them when our healers can't perform too good, I use Veil whenever I can to stack barrier between attacks and it's never enough, our dps always mop the floor while healers still pretend they're hot shit for using Cure II once in a match.

Apologies, I'll start using it then. I'll admit I don't usually notice the gauge, maybe I should move it closer to the centre of the screen.
Regarding my other point, I find that I've normally been using the same sequence of moves against all enemies, the single target disembowel, lance charge, then thrust combo weaving in life surge just before full thrust for what feels like the most bang.
Am I missing a trick by not sticking to using the AOE (doom spike) on the mobs of smaller enemies you get, and then using the single target sequence above on mini-bosses and up? It does less damage then the other moves in my arsenal but the ability to just keep smashing it and hit everything in front could be useful.

The leader of my casual FC is a cutscene skipper and I legitimately don't understand what he gets out of the game. He skips all the cutscenes, only plays one job (Scholar), and spends 99% of his time in-game afk in front of the summoning bell outside the FC house, selling items (he hoards gil and has over 700m). But despite that XIV is the only game he plays and he buys EVERY mogstation item the second it becomes available, as well as all the expensive merch that gives in-game emotes and minions. It's just fucking confusing, I don't know what it is about the game that he's so obsessed with when he barely even participates and only seems to use the game to flaunt his vanity.

Typically one tank takes charge and the other simply DPSes. Don't fight over who does it, if the other tank hops in threat stance first, let him have it instead of fighting for aggro. Likewise, don't endanger the run trying to strive to be king tank.

As an off-tank, certain fights have important things for you to do, such as grabbing adds or boss splits, doing these well makes every raid go smoother. If you're new, always focus on handling the fight's mechanics over doing damage, wipes happen because people aren't paying attention to what they're suppose to be doing and instead just watch their parse meters.

For trash mobs, try to pull a few off the main tank but hold them near the fight so AoE hits them. This way, healers get less spiky damage and DPS can clump up everything and AoE.
