Is it true that americans get in trouble for pirating?
Is it true that americans get in trouble for pirating?
americans get in trouble for crossing the road so probably
the most that happened to me was I got a phonecall while I was trying to pirate Skyrim telling me to stop doing that.
Companies sometimes complain to your internet service provider who then complains to you.
I almost tried to mark this thread as not interested on pure reaction. No matter how many times I mark these channels as such they just keep coming. What kind of actual NPCs watch this fucking shit?
>Hello user, according to our system it appears you are attempting to STEAL a copy of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, if you value your life I suggest you refrain from your actions and purchase it legitimately via one of the many outlets that has the game available.
I don't get it either. Why not just read the thread? Why do you have to listen to it from a second party? What's the point?
not really no
ISPs are incentivized to not care, since seeking legal action, or cutting your connection, could both lead to you not paying them
mix this with the sheer amount of people who pirate, the small gains to be had from so many people that aren't worth the legal fees, the fact that punishing pirates is unpopular, and you have at worst a perturbed call or letter that leads to nothing but at worst empty threats
I have a theory about that guy who makes these reddit videos with Wojak/Pepe in the thumbnails, It's a Yea Forums(nel)er who's abusing the system to get neetbux. He's using the retarded system to his advantage to get money from redditards/facebook moms, etc.
I have a long drive to work. I look for longer videos just to hear someone talking. These type of videos are perfect for that.
No kidding, I'm fucking sick of these videos in my recommended. I already hated reddit's parasitic "content" to begin with and now anytime I try to watch something on youtube I get a dozen of these things which are essentially just a effortless regurgitation of that.
Not even slightly. There has been 1-2 cases where someone pirated a shit ton and they tried to make examples of them to scare everyone, but that's it.
Only a nigger would not know the difference between jaywalking and crossing the road.
not downloading, but i get letters from my isp after seeding a torrent for a while. i've gotten like 10 letters and nothing has really happened, except after like the seventh one my browser kept redirecting me to my isp site so i'd click an agreement to stop pirating. then i got three more letters after that and nothing happened.
you can still use a vpn. or i use i2p and haven't gotten any notifications after seeding for weeks, so i guess i2p works for torrenting without a vpn.
The topics are kinda interesting. When I saw the first one show up, which was about retired cops retelling the most horrifying story, kinda piqued my interest since I really enjoy listening to horror stories on Youtube. Then I click on it and hear the robot voice then immediately lose any and all interest I might have had.
>thought this thread was legit
>turns out its just some faggots discussing eceleb shit
God I hate zoomers
I've been pirating my whole life, and never got even a warning or the sort. I honestly think they just do that to scare someone, and hope they tell their friends, and they stop as well.
they make examples of people to make it look like they care but believe it or not ISPs want you to keep giving them your money so they don't really want to start fucking over everyone who pirates
i don't think any ISP cared about people pirating unless they were going over a data cap, they only started sending the copyright letters once they were sued and forced to.
i got a letter for downloading a game that you can't purchase except for old expensive used copies. it's retarded.
It's because there are a MILLION of these soulless channels made everyday. Seriously, next time you see one of these videos, look at the name of the channel. It'll never be the same one twice
Drive your car off a cliff you fucking faggot.
Todd is a powerful man, he would chase you through hell if you pirate his games
The only time it ever happened to me, was when I was seeding a torrent for a Boston's Greatest Hits album. I was given a warning, and used a fake IP since.
The voices the reddit thread readers actually have will make you appreciate the text-to-speech programs' synthetic speech
If it's through torrents, yes.
Not really, no. 99.99% of the "trouble" americans get into is from automated RIAA trollbots sending automated complaints to ISPs which in turn send automated warnings to consumers. If you get enough warnings they threaten to cut off your service, but I haven't heard many stories of this actually happening as it turns out ISPs like money and don't like cutting off paying customers.
I've personally only ever gotten a warning like this from torrenting movies or porn, never for video games or applications or anything else. Torrenting is kind of old news to me, personally, as I download everything through http now as it's untraceable by the anti-piracy trollbots.
