If you struggle a good idea is just attacking from one side, that'll most likely pull a lot of the rival players which will leave your forwards unmarked.
Another good idea is to not retain the ball and make quick passes, specially in the "ghost school" match because most of them have defense techniques and your guys have nothing at that point.
Shishido (Afro kid) is really useful the whole game since he has shoot, block and dribble techniques.
Like in the anime, spamming Fire Tornado or any shoot technique works wonders.
