The G-Rank games are generally tougher, but after playing any MH enough you won't go through that initial phase of wrapping your head around the core fundamentals.

There's plenty challenging content in GU if one wants it. Such as 10* advanced village quests or DLC elders for example. Same way there's challenging fights in World if one wants it in the form of Lechen and Behemoth.

Its far from copy pasted content also. At the very least there's one new map, 5 new deviants, 2 new elders, 1 new village soaratorium, new high rank village stuff new DLC collaborations, new palico moves, the list goes on and on.

Some of the best armors and weapons from world are copy/paste jobs from old games aswell, not to mention 95% of all weapon movesets. Bit rich talking about copy paste jobs

Back in Gen hypers were just basically HP bloated monsters with different attack timings on their empowered hitzones. Kind of a missed opportunity for shifting up attack patterns, but it's still more effort than MHW's tempered monsters.

FU Luna/Teo have the fire aura when enraged that only goes away when you break the horns with at least one bit of dragon damage or poison them. 4U/XX Teo has a fire aura that's lost when it enters 100 seconds mode, although it amplifies significantly on Lv140 guild quests. Lunastra doubles down on it since her last appearance. Ground fires like if she was playing KF2 Firebug, being much more fire-focused when Teostra has Blast so the aura and fireblight application are more persistent, and even DOT during the nova more known for its bullshit windpress.

On the topic of DOT in general, health leeching makes people worse players but I can't blame some for taking it up to deal with MHW's post-update endgame more easily.

I'm in the same position, I picked up mh3u a few weeks ago. So far it's not much harder if at all, the only problem I've had is needing the wiki to see the upgrade paths for the weapons. and where to find certain drops desu I find it easier because potions heal all at once instead of slowly over time and the monsters are slow and predictable as fuckexcept brachydios just remember to have patience

yeah potions seem to heal more in the older games, but I still think world potions are easier to use since it's almost impossible to get hit using them unless you're like under the monster

core gameplay of older games is not that different from world. its equally punishing, monsters hit just as hard, they have just as much stamina, you do just as much damage, movement is essentially the same, etc.
the biggest difference is the lack of features that make world easier (and broken sometimes) like mantles, moving while using items, monsters are a bit more agressive, eating while on mission, some OP mechanics like tcs etc. also being way more uncomfortable to play because fuck handhelds, unless you emulate of course
