I haven't tried NG+ yet, but playing Nightmare without starting from scratch misses the point. The challenge takes a severe nosedive as your shard collection grows.

Good example is the 8-bit Nightmare Overlord or the 3 secret room bosses which are also farmable for their shards and require lengthy bullshit.

the 3 bosses can be easily farmed, they are all located near save/teleport points and are literally a single room. their shards are also not very good, unlike the wiggly nigger`s yellow shard

I farmed him to Grade 9 today and shit took me an hour of pain.

You can't. It changes back to normal until you fight him once you have the Zangetsuto. It makes sense since she's staying with him at the moment.

yellow shards become grey when ranked to 9, by that virtue alone it's better than the other 3

If you use cheats to get the Zangetsuo right away on a new file, the moon is still in the garden and slashing it does open the portal.

So what do you lose when starting new game plus? I assume your movement abilities, so you can't bypass the map.

Besides that, the story-relevant items and Zangetsuto that's pretty much it.

Use the beast guardian shard, it´s more consistent than the knight and it blocks all of its attacks

I bought the switch version and i fucking HATE this game because of it. I went too far in so it'd feel like shit to restart, but at this point the issues have just become too glaring. The fucking half a second long input delay fucks with my brain and the 30 fps or lower is not helping either. Anyone here know how to get a refund on switch eshop? The switch's best thing is that it can run indie games on the go pretty well and this game looks like a wii game at best.

Just got the platinum on PS4, man, what a ride. Best game I've kickstarted so far and I'm super happy with it. I wish it ran a little better on console, but it wasn't bad enough to take me out of the game (other than the massive drops outside the twin dragon tower). Tons of content though, nice touches, passable customization not including the wearable items. I'm a happy guy.

If you got your code via kickstarter then you're fucked, they're not going to replace it especially because they're already working on optimizing the Switch version. If you got it through eShop then you have a chance, just contact Nintendo customer service via online chat and you can probably get a one time refund.

The exclusives it does have are really good, but yeah third party titles are garbage on it and I'm really annoyed that some companies (Devolver Digital being a big one) seem to release on Switch exclusively when there's no reason other than Nintendo fanboys having bottomless wallets. I did it recently with Muse Dash because it had so many issues on Switch. Played for half an hour, realized what a huge mistake I made and immediately contacted Nintendo. The guy was really nice, I was polite and explained all the issues with the game, and he said he'd pass it on to the admin team and they'd get back to me in a few days. About three days later or so I got an e-mail saying everything was refunded, but they made a point to tell me that it's a one time thing. Bought the game on PC right after and it's almost like a completely different game - more features, options actually work, no lag, audio quality is way better, etc. You really need to watch out with Switch ports.

I never saw any of the red flags. I'm a regular consumer, not some superfan. I liked hollow knight, this looked like a hollow knight type of game, so i checked out the store page. I watched the trailer, and everything looked perfectly fine.

It had a week delay from all the other releases, so i checked some youtube videos on the ps4 version and the game looked fun. I expected a graphical downgrade, sure, but not a performance downgrade too.

I'm quite convinced that cold start nightmare is the best way to play. No levels gained from grindan, so no worries about becoming able to steamroll shit early on. Food and HP/MP ups still give you a path towards increased survivability, but a much more measured and finite one. More enemies, with more attacks they won't use in normal. Combine that with insisting on medal clears for the bosses, and you're in for a good time.

He truly has the worst curse ever

It's nothing too amazing at Rank/Grade 1, but at Grade 9 it deals massive damage and with rank it gets a couple of new moves. I'm warning you though - at a certain rank, it gets a chun-li kick move and that can massively fuck you over in some fights because of the start up time. It's best to kick three/four times, move/jump, then start kicking again because it resets the kick counter before the special kicks in.

Dude I don't know how big your library is on Switch but I've played tons of 2D sidescrollers that have hiccups on Switch in docked mode that run like butter on a slim PS4 or the Xbox One S. I agree for the most part you SHOULD be fine with indies, but it's not a bulletproof strategy.

I've played a lot of indie games on switch. Liar princess, binding of isaac, shovel knight, into the breach, katana zero, hollow knight, blaster master zero 2, darkest dungeon, enter the gungeon, iconoclasts, kingdom two crowns, merchants of kaidan, rain world... and i've played a lot of non-indie games, dragons dogma, mega man 11, katamari damacy, botw, odyssey, etc. None of these games have had performance issues for me. Not one. What 2d sidescrollers are you playing that have such bad performance on switch? Not doubting that there might be some, but I sure haven't found any, and i'd be glad to know what ones to avoid.

Something like 120 milliseconds, it's extremely noticeable even to someone who's not sensitive to input lag. Apparently the Switch version of Mega Man (Classic) Legacy Collection and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection both have input lag, but I've never noticed any unlike with Bloodstained where I noticed it imediatly.

Where do you find the shard to move normally under water?

if you cant move under water at all, there is a jellyfish in the underwater cavern area that you can kill that drops a shard that lets you move under water. from there you keep progressing and you should be able to naturally come across an ability to walk underwater. the jellyfish look like the ones from the ship but are smaller.

Well, this one it's nothing like 3, but it is similar to Symphony, tough it has many more things in common with the Castlevanias after it like Aria or Ecclesia. Music is pretty good, but preferences vary.

Metroidvania coinage has apparently been attributed to Scott Sharkey and Jeremy Parish. Parish may have written for Game Informer at the time.
