Why can't we use the water/lava mechanic outside of the forest level? Why are several enemies still missing in the game? Why is the 3D World style lacking so much stuff? Why can't we spin jump and grab stuff? Why is the multiplayer so bad?
I am intrigued by this game and am considering buying a switch for it. How long until Switch is updated though? Will it be within the next 6 months? I don't wanna spend $300 bucks on something that will be outdated by the end of the year. If it will last me at least a year though I'll go buy one right now

Shilling my level and reposting from previous thread.
Here's my latest level. It's an original SMB underwater themed level. I spent way too much time on this level. I tried to make some interesting challenges/puzzles.
I really wish you didn't have to set a time limit on stages. Just don't worry about timing out and try to enjoy the level. I was able to complete everything with time to spare but I obviously knew exactly how to do everything and went through it quickly. I've placed 2 checkpoints near each other. I recommend waiting until you've collected some pink coins before activating one of them since it will save the pink coins you've collected before dying. Only need 1 key to complete the level but there are 3 in total and you get a nice bonus for collecting all of them. The main gimmick of the level is collecting the pink coins so I really hope you try to do so. Otherwise the level is really short and easy.
I'd really like some feedback. I put it up last night before going to bed but it hasn't gotten any plays yet. I spent so many hours on this level.
You seem to enjoy hard levels, is this too hard, or did I make it too easy?
Carter Reyes
I posted 2 levels in the last thread, and they weren't terribly good. Here is my last one for the day, 27V-XRM-LYF. Its an airship level with a notably long vertical sequence. If anyone else has fun airships I would be willing to try them.
-Mushihimesama VRG-YRH-TNF Based on CAVE's bullet hell shmup (webm). I put enough power-ups to not make it too frustrating. -Chasing the thieving Goomba LK9-YB0-SFF short speedrun level where you chase a goomba who has stolen the keys to your house

If you don't want me to play your gay ass level you could have just said so
Going to be mostly playing levels today instead of making, but here's the last level I made:
Thwomp Block Valley PT0-59J-BQF A simple gimmick level about Thwomps and On/Off switches. Pretty easy and short. I really like what I did with the vertical section at the end. I'm kind of tired of On/Off levels but I might make turn that whole vertical section into its own level idea.
Alright same, but I'm not going to finish everything if its hyper difficult or annoying.

Hey guys! Maybe some of you remember me from the first Mario Maker game's threads, I'm the guy who did recreations of all the levels in Mega Man 9, and people seemed to like those. This time around I had promised myself if a sequel were ever made, especially with Snow and Desert themes, I'd do Mega Man 10, and now here we are!
I've finished 2 of the 8 Robot Masters, so I'm posting them here. Then I'm going to play through the levels already posted in this thread, and will give opinions on them, so I hope you'll do the same for mine!
Sheep Man: 36Y-QYM-0VG
Pump Man: GW5-SQ2-35G
After I take my break from making to play a bunch of levels here, I'll get back to work, Solar Man is next!

The Invincible Dry Bones! 1MS-NCL-XVF
Bone shell autoscroller with heavy use of invincibility. Hint: Press down at anything that can hit you. The longer you hold down, the longer the I-frames last.
Slippery Ascent YYG-66B-KMG
Potentially a ridiculously difficult puzzle level. Guide a Monty Mole onto the note blocks to get the items you need to collect the pink coins to clear the level on a very slippery floor. What's the catch? You can't jump. Truly a very challenging level only for the bravest of players. Hint: You get no hints, but there is a very easy way to successfully guide Monty onto all music blocks and then get rid of him so he will no longer be a nuisance. The level is significantly easier once you get all the music note items.

That level was a clusterfuck, bowser's AI makes him jump on the same platform as you, and when walled off you have a tiny platform and no room to maneuver or aim his fireballs. Also by having a catsuit from the getgo, it's possible to kill bowser by clawing him and not be able to finish the stage.
Luis Parker
>The Castle's Four Red Coins 4DQ-KF5-GVF
Tackle the four rooms in any order you want, with a central checkpoint that you can use whenever. I wasn't really sure how to end this one, so it's a little anemic.
Precise Platforming : QMR-JX2-R5G Short and sweet Kaizo style level with some difficult jumps and two paths to take (try the other if you're struggling). No difficult inputs or techniques required, just precise jumping and shell tossing. Take this on if you like a challenge, feel free to leave advice and feedback too

Only two I've upped so far.
Up, Down, and Across (v3) S2B-6LV-FVF >SMB3 themed level where you go into a Tower sub area (ghost house) and need to climb it with a puzzle element thrown in. Once you reach the top you go through a platforming section connecting the first and second tower, then descend the second tower. A very long level I've heavily altered since v2. Added two more sections, cleaned up the platforming section a bit, moved the first checkpoint closer and added a second one. I sort of hope, sans a few cleanups, this is the definitive version of the stage. I've had a few people play and comment.
Flipping Red Coins QYB-T37-FTG >3DW level where you collect red coins to unlock a teleport box. The premise is entering pipes, and the sub area is the same as the main area but flipped and with a few elements changed. Getting all the red coins leads you to the checkpoint, which is about 2/3 of the way done, then you have one more "flip" area to navigate and reach the goal. A few people have played it but I've gotten no feedback.

>make a 30 second level with some very simple platforming where you have to keep an enemy on-screen behind you the whole way through so he can knock down the p-switch for you at the end >it is made very clear that you're "escorting" the enemy in question >it somehow has a 2.5% clear rate after gaining a bit of traction over the last few days >it would probably be way more popular if I just designed it so you could clear it by holding run + right I honestly thought I was making something simple with a cute gimmick. I have a decent handful of ideas but if I have to dumb them down to have them get any decent amount of attention I'm not sure they're worth executing.
That was pretty neato. How you used the moon at the start makes me interested in making a level where you have to escort the moon to the end without grabbing it, to open up a whomp gate or something.
I liked this one a lot. One of the pipes lets you see one of the next secret rooms from out of view, but the whole thing was very clever and well made. Find the flower, find the key, find the P switch, and the red switch. Thankfully I found all of them before I ever found the end. I was thinking it was going to be something like invisible blocks after Pswitching the question mark coins, but much less involved.
Spent most of the level camping the top right corner with cat mario maybe add something that will prevent people from doing that The perfect amount of difficulty, only bad part was getting into the pipe with the rising lava. Good job on this It was nice but I couldn't find that flower

I love it. I can do each room, now I'm just trying to do them in a single go. It's not too short, but I'm also not at the end. Given the difficulty of each room, it seems fine how it is.

Connor Kelly
Nice level! It was nice, had some nice tense moments where I screwed up and almost died, and just had to dodge. Only real problem is that it felt a little too samey, as there wasn't enough variety in hazards other than the general chase, and for the most part it was just the same trick of waiting for Meowser to destroy the block, without enough added stuff to worry about.
I liked this level a lot but just couldn't complete it, and after so many deaths I figured I need to try some other levels. I definitely plan to try this more in the future to see if I can beat it, but I could'nt even make it to a checkpoint if there was one, but got just a little further each time. Love the aesthetic, the combination of the lava and sun and hot bars really give a good feel of a dungeon where ht ekeeper is so impatient he's gotta pester you from the start. I did get a tiny bit further each time, so will def try again more later!

Guys my mom won't buy me a Switch. What are some good Mario Maker lets players?
Gavin Taylor
So I intend on making my levels in packs, designing an entire world (or part of the map for Super Mario World).
For Super Mario Brothers, I'm going to make these almost WarioWare esque Ice Levels with no enemies, leaving the player forced to preform intermediate to complex platforming in around 40 seconds. The short time and lack of enemies is, in context, because the levels are just too cold to support any life, so just dash through as fast as you can to the Castle. Has anyone else tried making shorter levels? How do you decide the length? I'm making about full size Mario but just scaling the time down to 40 seconds.

To the guy who posted these last thread, I played all three levels.
Temple Deep feels a little disjointed. First it's rising poison, then thwomps, then a boss fight with Boom Boom. If there were some sideways Thwomps in the first autoscroll segment, that could spruce it up. And a longer Thwomp segment in that sub area. And the Boom Boom fight? Yup, I'd say to try out somethin with Thwomps there, too.
Pipe Panic's also kinda there, there's a ridiculously tight part with those two cheep cheeps, feels incongruous with the rest of the level. Needs a longer underwater sub area. Also, is there a shortcut in this level? I see a gap in the ceiling at the very end.
Bowser's Fleet had a little more goin on, but that bob-omb treadmill is a nonchallenge since it can't follow you as you hit the switches. The mole cannon thing would be nice for speedrunning though, as you risk spikes to jump on its head as it veers down and to the right. The only problem is the cycle of the track platform goes up, not down, so even if you're really fast you have to just wait for it to go all the way up and then back down for no reason or no challenge. If you could fix your objects so it synced up with someone that knew how to control a mole, that'd be pretty cool. The first segment of the level needed to be longer, too, even if only by five to fifteen seconds.
That's the general trend I've noticed with your levels. They're underdeveloped and just need to be a little longer. But you've got some good ideas rattling around in the three of your levels, so I hope you find your groove, man.
>Desert Run - TT3-TDK-DPG You're trying to escape the desert, but the thwomps won't let that happen and chase you right across! Fast level where you almost always run at full speed. Last part requires some spin jumping with Z. Fair checkpoints and not quite as hard as the clear rate might make it seem, imo.
The dry bones shell ride pretty much requires you to know to jump where the thwomps are ahead of time to trigger them which is bad design, I give you a failing grade. The rest is mediocre at best.
Christopher Rodriguez
This is a pretty simple autoscroll level I made:

The Piranha Field - 95K-1HW-2MF
A classic SM3 experience. My first stage was designed to be as vanilla and fun as possible.
The Quest for Immortality - QWH-G4H-8HG
A very tough auto-scroll for men and manly girls only. Save the day by reaching the heavens themselves in search for the ultimate power to destroy Bowser.
I like it. Lot of fun parts and good use of shells, cannons, and bob-ombs near the end.
Matthew Sullivan
Who else only plays as Toadette?
Carson Lopez
It's a good red coin challenge. You can kind of cheese it though by getting the Dry Bones shell first to trivialize the spikes and lavas in the other rooms though.
Hudson Jones
Yo, how do I get into this list?
Gavin Scott
Cute platforming challenge, though without much thematic cohesion. Let's say you made it a bit longer, with one more regular hammer bro, and then including a final boss fight with a more challenging arena Hammer Bro in the sub area - then it'd be a Hammer Bro stage. Now it's a loose collection of hazards - which is fun in its own right, and fine too. All in all, keep up the good work!
Luke Campbell
I have yet to see a level with a big block dong in it. This surprises me.

Levi Foster
I think gameplay wise it's fine, but eh... what's the theme here? Not to be rude but it feels like every 10 meters you tried out some other enemies or elements and just put them in some random places for the most part.
I suggest attempting to make a level focused on just 1 main thing, be it an enemy or gizmo, with 2-3 supporting elements at most. Limitation can breed creativity and it might just make the stage seem more coherent.
Gabriel Richardson
>he hasn't unlocked Loli Bowsette from the secret story mission #122 yet
>Dr. Z’s Haunted Mansion DQK - T5B - 3FF Puzzle-ish 3DW ghost house that focuses on the underutilized 3D World exclusive moves for pseudo platforming/timing puzzles. You’ll hate me for one specific jump, but I gave infinite retries for it and I try not to make things too punishing, as long as you figure out the gimmicks.
Feedback for this would be greatly appreciated as this is my first time trying to make a more difficult level. Some of my other stuff:
>Somewhere Under the Rainbow 7XF - 5FN - TCG A prettied up SMW sky coin collection level. You don’t need to get them all and there are a lot of different routes that can be taken.
>Win the Race! 5CK - CWN - 4VF Just win, just win, just win the race! I don’t care what it takes just find a way to win the race! Built with multiplayer in mind, but quite fun to speedrun in singleplayer too.
>The Entombed Treasure 59L - L8W - NYF Longish level where you explore a tomb to retrieve a sacred "treasure".
A Stage of Fire and Ice(no, it's not supposed to be a game of thrones reference). Comfy ice overworld meets scorching hot fire attacks, until the reverse where you traverse ice obstacles in a volcanic lava pit. Not exceptionally long, but I still included two checkpoints.
If you don't play as Luigi get out and never come back to this thread

Yo NP_Matt I got the WR on your Superball GO!! level. That was fun, man, but man that ball is picky about where it wants to bounce, so it was stressful tryin to pinpoint myself quickly to make sure it went all the way to the targets.
I switched to Luigi for a bit for a few courses but then just switched back to Toadette. She's been my favorite mario character for a while now, though.
Jaxon Green
Castle, easily. Why would anyone pick any other?
Castle is literally just SWIMMING through the air. Fucking dumb. Also snow night is based. And ground night is not the same as airship night. Airship night = projectiles are slower and enemies swim in the air Ground night = many enemies have unique behavior. Boo circles chase you, thwomps inch towards your location, goombas float etc.
Noah Nelson
First finished MM2 level. And this feels like it took me at least 30 hours in create mode for this, all for a level that can be done in 3 minutes
I tried to use what 3D world did offer unique, and made a level themed with pipsqueaks and carrying one squeak all the way to the end in order to win. It's hard I think but not bullshit hard. Extensively test played for bugs and other things. I will probably never make another level using these unpredictable, hard to use rats. Would love feedback
This level has a few clears now so this is probably the last time I'll post this one in these threads and start making a new one instead. If you find it too difficult or unfair (or boring), there are secret paths that may or may not help you clear it, but it'd be cool if you took the challenge and attempted to clear it all the way through on the main path. Who knows, maybe you'll enjoy it, maybe not.

And its probably faster to just jump up to the coin in the miniboss room
Anyway good level. Main criticism is that theres too many pipes and powerups.
Hmm... I think you have a lot to learn. You cram way too many pieces into your levels making them lose identity. One moment it's a snake block level, then it's a claw level, then it's an avoid fire. It's like you're just going through the item list and adding them to your stage without rhyme or reason. They are also very long, making it very unfun to die.

Cool Kirby stages dude, pretty fun recreation. I agree it can be hard to accurately represent something, but it's cool to see what people come up with.
desu your levels are fun even if someone doesn't understand it's a kirby themed level, solid gameplay.
Henry King
if you find the area with many enemies difficult, remember that touching the moon will clear them all
also there's exactly 3 1-UPs available (100 coins, stage clear and the moon clear) so hopefully it'll get some good responses on the challenge mode

I played your first level, and I have to say, for something trying to recreate Kirby of all things, it's a little too difficult. Hammer bros and piranha plants on musical notes and whatnot is a little too much. I'd also suggest changing the theme to NSMB, since having the midair twirl would be a little more accurate to how playing as Kirby would feel like.

It's not a long level (I only have one long level, being tomb) and the puzzle aspect is figuring out how to use the roll and long jump moves in different interactions. There's no switch hunting, pick a door, pow shenanigans or anything like that. I don't usually like puzzle levels either, this is more showing off mechanics and interactions than pure puzzling.
Will keep that in mind, thanks!
Robert Reed
I hadn't considered that, thanks user. Might try and change it up to be more challenging.
On a side note, while making this stage I realized that jumping on enemies while in the dry bones skull doesn't reset the counter if you touch the water/lava, so you can actually get some 1ups from that section if you jump on them all.
Lucas Roberts

Just played these. Well, to but it blunt, I think they are pretty bad courses. I think you should always try to make good levels instead of bad levels, that's the one tip I would give you guys.

Joseph Edwards
I liked this level. Simple but very well done, looked great and really felt like I was on a spy/stealth mission at parts, even if that might not have been exactly what you were going for. The boss fight at the end felt like it could use a bit more theming, but I'm not entirely sure how, but it didn't seem to fit as well with the rest of the level.
I understand what you mean by the theme feeling off, I had been switching between all the 4 main styles trying to find one that looked good and it was between either Super Mario bros. and Super Mario Bros 3.
Ian Cox
What's up with all the switch guessing into spike traps in volcanic journey? Bad design.
Camden Evans
It's a bad game and it makes my sick that people talk about and play this game. Nintendo has ruined everything
Luke Carter
It was fun, but now that I read your post I don’t have a clue what you mean about having to carry a pipsqueak to the end? I thought the theme was similar to being caught in wacky toy/candy factory machine works and finding creative ways to dispatch or otherwise remove pests from your path as you make your escape. It seems like I may have accidentally cheesed the hell out your level, but I still had fun either way.
>How the fuck did you do that? Dumb luck. I’m happy it was my best level though. >And can you lose your medal again if people beat you/outperform you? I’m like 90% sure they can, yes.
Juan Jackson
Themed level user here again with my fresh new adventure, '"Tomb Raider"
V3X-389-9HG
Journey below a pyramid and solve puzzles to reach the deepest depths. This is my first time making an adventure map of this size with puzzles of this type, I'd greatly appreciate feedback/ideas.
Any and all feedback is appreciated, don’t hold back if there’s something wrong with a level.
NEW Desert Chomplex F18-4VF-54G >This level isn’t extremely long, but I tried to make it a bit more challenging than my regular levels, I tried to give the level a factory look with the SMB3 desert theme. Overgrown Mushroom Cloudtops 9YP-PFS-6QF >I love the sky theme for SMW so much so I really wanted to put a lot of love into this level, I hope it turned out good. The theme is a Pirahna Plant invasion in the mushroom cloudtops.
OLD LEVELS Dry Fish Sewers FWH-10N-8WG >Pretty standard level focused around dry fish, I tried to do as much as I could with that one enemy. Bounce and Swing Jungle STM-RKD-M9G >Can’t touch the ground once you’re off it, so you have to use things like bouncers and vines to advance. Dreamy Sandship Dunes 7N5-Y6V-1TG >I feel like this one could’ve turned out better, but the idea was built around flying on a ship throughout the sky and dodging enemies.
What's the point of medals if they are temporary like that, then?
Charles Evans
I deleted the first one because it contained a threat of unliking courses, which I felt was a bit much, especially as most likely you were not the creator of the actual levels but just a random troll, but wasn't going to let my actual response to you go. And I kept the nametag so it can be known it's me, you buffoon.
In any case, this is for actually playing and posting levels, so I'm done with you afterwards. Now post levels or kill yourself.
Charles Bailey
For me it’s a 50/25/25 chance of either being good connection, laggy but playable, and fucking slideshow.
Jack Jenkins
Couldn’t tell you, I was pretty disappointed when I heard it too. You get a few unlockable outfits for getting a bronze silver or gold medal along with their spiked equivalents but I’m pretty sure the medals themselves disappear.
Adrian Carter
Co-op is full of actual thirdworlders on dialup, Versus is a coinflip between playable/slideshow.
Juan Lee
>Couldn't find the third key, good level though
Glad you liked it. The third key is a bit hard to find. Hint: Pay close attention to the area with the big fish near the flagpole.
Julian Myers
do you need a cool thumbnail to get noticed by the gods and get a popular level
Carson Edwards
I should probably make it more obvious then other than the level description, maybe an arrow pointing to the squeak/title change? Also you didn't beat it right? If you didn't know what to do you should have gotten stuck at the end.
Reposting for the anchor, my bad. Goombrat stronghold updated, I put another checkpoint among other small changes No one beat the original though they liked it,I hope you enjoy this version better and can see the end
J45-2SW-FLG
Camden Young
Not really. Just make one of the following and hope your level gets seen:
The gaps in the floor actually make the Bowser Jr fight easier, if you jump over them while he's sliding he will instantly come out of his shell again. No complaints with Chomplex, kind of generous with power ups.
Thomas Gutierrez
Holy fuck I thought the webm was just loading slowly, that's fucked
Luis Sanders
The theming on that one was fantastic, unique but unified challenges all throughout. Some legitimately intense moments, my favorite probably being the segment with the grinders and the iceblocks.

A Jolly Stroll Through The Pipes
TYC-L3R-2LG
I tried to make a fun and relatively easy level around Clear Pipes. I'd like some feedback, I shilled it a few days ago and an user rather liked it. I am trying to really improve!
Pls try my level. I think it’s in algorithm hell because only one guy played it since I uploaded it yesterday. Its a remake of the banjo kazooie level freezeezy peak, perfect for people who like comfy snow levels.
Great level! Another one I saved to play again, as I think I got right near the end and died in a rough playthrough from a stupid mistake, and want to try some other levels. The Zelda 2 Dungeon feel is something you absolutely nailed! Really gave me that tense dungeon feel, and the open-ended nature worked to your favor. Great job!
Adrian Walker
I happily downvoted the first one for being incomplete bullshit. What was there was good, started with nice aesthetics and I liked the mole part, the navigating the boo rings was a little irritating with the RNG floor ghost ranging around but I still made it past, only to be met with a dead pipe entrance. The other path was nothing and went straight to the goal. Nope. Go back and finish the level and I’ll go back and finish playing it.
Julian Rogers
Are anons too stupid to figure out clear conditions? That's probably the single best thing added to the game and barely any of you are using them.
Jacob Sanchez
>tfw no upwards thwomp
Luis Rogers
Play my new level. I was limited to what I could use and I think it still came out great.
Just some quick first attempts. Appreciate the people who played from the last thread, I ended up posting right before it got archived.
The first level is mostly just remembering how the game works and seeing the new tools. Skeeball is skeeball.
Ethan Hall
One of my levels was included in a watchmojo video and now it had almost 1000 plays. Seems to have caused some spillage into my other levels too.
Thomas Parker
>tfw don't want to outright call people's stages shit in the comments cause I don't want them to revenge boo me
Henry Taylor
Do you have excellent platforming skills? Can you make it through the deadly saws unscathed? Are you a bad enough dude to collect the 4 key coins precariously placed around the level?
Speaking of the algorithm, I've noticed something:
- Post a stage - It gets mostly positive feedback, the number of Likes is close to half of the Plays. -A day and a half later, this stage will suddenly get 200+ plays over the course of 2-3 hours. - It will then return to normal but still keep getting occassional plays.
This has happened to two of my levels, and to another level that was 5 days old when it happened. I dunno if this is an algorithm thing or maybe the level came up on a twitch stream, but I'm leaning towards algorithm.

your course might also have popped up on new or hot
Robert Jenkins
Hey, we actually chatted yesterday about level design. I took a lot of inspiration from your level and made this one I really enjoyed how you had set yours up, so any feedback from you would be extremely valuable.
Lucas Nguyen
Whenever I look at "Hot" it is always stages with 1 Play and 1 Like. Are they showing up because they've a 100% Like to Play ratio?
>200+ plays This literally hasn't happened to me on any of my 6 stages despite many of them starting out with great like ratios. Even after days my top layed stage is only at 170 plays
Lucas Gray
Greaaat level user. Really well done and your pacing is fantastic. I had a great time.
Chase Baker
Thank you for your time :) i deleted it. will work on it later.
Dylan Lopez
"Attack on Snowman Sanctuary!" 9RB-17C-LKF A fire and ice themed level where you have to defend snowmen from Bowser jr. and his army. Starts out like a basic level in the first half, turns into a boss rush in the second half.
"Journey to the Cave of Wonders!" DQ9-K7L-JLF A stage that mostly revolves around gold and lava, your goal is to find the Genie's Lamp. Updated recently to ensure there are no leaps of faith and is more fair overall.
"Ting-Tang Toystore": 3B5-CNQ-LYG A basic level I made as a test run, relies on mostly sliding and bouncing on enemies.
Any kind of feedback on any of these levels would very much be appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback user. Yeah there's a hidden star I wanted people to explore for that would make it a cakewalk but I had trouble figuring out how to do that without spam. Plus I'm still trying to figure out guiding players without just using arrows.
Aaron Adams
ah yeah i played coop, thats probably why it was even worse than the last time i played.
Grayson Ross
Not him but my guess is that if it does well enough in the hot section, you can get bumped up to popular courses and ride the wave to 1000 views, but if it doesn’t do well enough in the hot section, it’ll usually just get 200 in all.
Jonathan Morgan
I made another super hammer course, this time shorter and simpler than the last one, about guiding Bullies and in turn, being helped by them Couldn’t figure out a good way to avoid generating unwinnable states on this’s one, though, so try to handle them with care Bully a Buildup NN2-9XX-X1G

>Why can't we use the water/lava mechanic outside of the forest level?
You can, in Castle levels.
Water and Lava tiles.
Caleb Mitchell
Not intended to be insta death. I think I should have made it more clear to use the koopa shell through the pipe. Sorrt about that user!
Ryder Phillips
Your level is ugly as sin. Wouldn't ground blocks look much nicer than pasting these blocks everywhere? I also got softlocked in the red coins room by getting the first coin as big mario while the red blocks as active. In the first part, instead of getting the key to get the P switch then get the P switch, you can just use the key on the door in the spike room. All you lose is a 50 coins coin, which is nothing. Was that by design? If you were to do a optional route that gives you more stuff, a better reward would work better. Maybe don't give flowers everywhere and give it there? I dunno. It feels really underwhelming as is. Otherwise I liked your level.

Leo Adams
Fun level, you did what a lot of people can't, which is to be consistent and not put too many ideas into practice. I don't have a lot of criticism, other than the fact that the ? block after the checkpoint can trap you in that little gap when the second beetle falls. I died to that and I felt it was a bit silly.
Timing of the spikes made it so I could just run past all of them, not sure if that's what you were going for. Overall, it felt really uninspired, perhaps you should make more obstacles so that people have to be more careful on those donut blocks in the spike block sections, so people may get tripped it and feel more challenged.
Luis Russell
>vertical underground night stage but you use the cape to fly downwards, which is actually up
There's a couple of fags on discord booing every level posted here. It's annoying and ignore them.
Camden Miller
Great. Nothing like seeing your maker score go down because of a couple of jackasses
Liam Martin
I pretty much only boo if I get kaizo blocked or the start of the level is some trash instant start and be expected to know what to do as if you made the level shit.
Matthew Edwards
You can't even see boos can you?
Lucas Richardson
Discord trannies seething as usual. Imagine putting that much effort into being a faggot.

>discord ah so they got to these threads too. RIP.

no but if something you post gets booed it's less likely to appear in the rotation for normal players. So if you get 6 boos before you get a like, even a good stage will never see play.
Samuel Stewart
Night Shift
>XNN-7DF-HTG
Revamped and reworked. You gotta drive the car to the construction site for the night shift while clearing out blocks and collecting red coins. Not too long, a straight shot.
I happen to really like them. That's the thing about a level creation tool, you can make all kinds of things for different kinds of tastes.

Yeah Nintendo should have gave more options. Spawn points fuck up a lot of level ideas.
Xavier Taylor
You can make levels centered around Bullies in the 3DW style. Makes for some fun levels, since there's several enemies that can actually push them back at you.
Ethan Cook
I can dig it. Excellent work. I like seeing this back-and-forth on claiming the wr.
David Sanders
Cave of Wonders was really cool. Was almost going to say wish there was a power-up somewhere after the checkpoint, but it ended up not being needed, and I liked that it meant I had to sneak past Meowser rather than fight it. Using the tip of the flagpole like that was a really neat touch. Kind of would like to see another variation/view on this theme, perhaps with a goal of either getting as much money as possible or (to make it closer to the actual Cave of Wonders), not being able to touch any coins but the lamp?
>Worst power ups Eh? I thought I'd use them because they're the newest ones, plus there's mechanics to fool with. Car was just for fun getting there , hammer because I found out you could kill thwomps and such. Box stacking to reach heights keeping in mind certain entities can crush your box

Did something change between Mario Maker 1 and 2 about how levels get distributed to people? In Mario Maker 1, I would upload levels and start getting random people playing them fairly soon after. In Mario Maker 2, I've uploaded about 6 levels and not a single one has been played. Do I have to do something else to get the levels added to the pool that endless challenge pulls from?
Parker Carter
Okay seemed to have finally patched out all of the cheese and reuploaded! Please give this one a try if you guys can; I tried to make a somewhat challenging puzzler but nothing bullshit. Hours and hours of test playing with these unpredictable rodents and having to use 3D world's gimped parts but I think the final product is quite nice.
>Flip gravity upside down to find 9 goldcoins and your way through the maze.
N8G-VB9-QSG
Just uploaded it seconds ago after working on it for two days. Wanted to do a VVVVVV styled level, but found it to be impossible due to a limit on warp pipes. My idea evolved into a maze where you can flip gravity to find different routes. I hope you guys enjoy!
(My older, very first level, a simple cannon ball jump challenge, called "Baron Münchhausen", can be found here: 7VN-W0R-W1H)
>Why can't we use the water/lava mechanic outside of the forest level? This one in particular just baffles me, there are plenty of levels in the old games that had water or lava outside of those level themes, and plenty of those level themes without water or lava.
Juan Rogers
Just got 29.2 after trying it again after typing this message.
Brody Taylor
How the fuck did I not see that! Okay, I'm gonna try one more time and if I can't beat it, I'll let it be.

I never claimed otherwise. I just wanted to make one since before I even got the game.
Good luck, if you beat it, I'll try to beat you back. I'm pretty confident with my 29 though!

You have to get your levels played at least 1 time by someone to make it enter the endless queue Don't rely on the "new courses" section, that one is so overloaded with courses it's still now showing new courses made days ago. It'll take a while for it to catch up.
Post them here, say no one has played them and someone will. I will!

The idea of not being able to touch anything but the lamp was one of my first ideas for it. But I couldn't really figure out how to take away the coins period without it feeling kinda empty. The P-Switch was part of that idea, since you're technically not touching them.
Anyways, glad you enjoyed it, man.

Discord really does turn anything it touches into shit. The only time it’s remotely acceptable is if you use it as you would skype or teamspeak with people you know, servers are fucking absolute cancer full of power hungry mods and admins with huge egos, as well as fucking thousands of attention whores.
Eli White
So am I still not able to make a sea ship/lava ship level?

Angel Cook
What controller are you guys using? Joycons fucking suck ass and it feels impossible to play the game undocked
Camden Cooper
Pro controller, but I'm seriously considering getting one of those 8bitdo snes controllers since the pro controller's dpad is beyond garbage
Hunter Peterson
Pro controller. Sometimes I'll just play handheld, but if I had my switch out, I'd take my pro with me and use that. I use the touchscreen for building levels though.
Liam Campbell
My speedrunner pal found some pretty glaring backdoors to my puzzle stage but still only a sub 2% completion rate. Give it a go and let me know what you think, Anons!
The bully part stumped me, how are you intended to do it?
Julian Wright
Also make the kart accessible at all times, so if it breaks, a new one is available (enter or exiting pipes/doors to respawn them)
Try to make the level spacious enough to get a full jump going on, use warp blocks for quickly moving from one area to another. Bullies make for great obstacles
Jayden Harris
>boo a level because you don't feel like playing it Fug u :)
Christopher Nguyen
Is the only way to get passed the first saw in the big wave of moving saws after the second key coin to either wait or tank a hit? so annoying

>Giant level where you have to get coin keys from like 10 doors thats a fat skip sir
Easton Ward
Stack 4 boxes on top of each other while pushing the bully back by jumping on it or hitting it. The bully can break your super sledge boxes so take your time keeping it away while stacking boxes
That’s what you’d expect, but in reality it turns into people you don’t know, and a lot of those people are looking for attention and power, which leads to these thousand person servers full of people you don’t know with admins and mods getting their dicks sucked because they’re in a position of power as well as anybody else who garners attention to themselves.

Just donate to a streamer and ask them to play your level, goy.
>some kid tried to make a challenging speedrun where you have to hit on/off switches or the next platform won't exist for you to land on >accidentally made it so you can just jump from on/off switch to on/off switch and ignore the platforms below lel
Ethan Rivera
Great level! Loved the adaptation of each of the tasks. The 2nd was definitely the toughest, while the 3rd only got annoying because the maze, while not hard in itself, was time consuming and then many times I'd then die at the "boss" and have to go through the whoel maze again, which got a little annoying. Still, fantastic job overall!
Thanks for the reply and effort of the webm. I'll def try to trim down pipe usage, running out of doors is the worst for transition stages
John Clark

Will retoast in the next bread. I would love any feedback. I asked above but no response, how do you guys decide the length of your levels?
A good structure to start off on. I would consider putting focus on a more linear pathbe because it looked like i could go multiple ways? Solid ideas throughout , like the on off switches. I found out buzzy beetles are immune to icicles. Keep building upon this level
Ryder Gray
If it takes someone 4 minutes to clear the course on a SECOND playthrough then I'm not even going to try it, you fucking dipshit. I will input the code just to boo it though.
Made an Indiana Jones themed level. First level I've ever made since I didn't own Mario Maker 1. I think I made it a bit too difficult but I tried hard to make the themeing good.
Made a stage I was proud of and shared it earlier.
Decided to counter it with an absolutely terrible level that I put a lot of work into because I liked my idea, I just have no idea how to design a level and would love my idea fleshed out into a real level.
It's a long level, with two checkpoints. I did it in three.
Jordan Young
You lose maker points and if your course gets a lot of boos compared to likes it's less likely to appear in endless mode for people
Jonathan Jackson
That bowser jr fight at the end is bullshit
Jordan Green
Rip, I probably have 10 boos on all my levels that I post here from the discord trannies
Aiden Richardson
>check suggested levels earlier >really nice Airship theme; gave a Like >just booted console back up >pre-made level comes up >it's almost exactly the same as the "Maker level." Lazy asses.
PYS-6LY-1SF A Skipsqueak Jaunt You may have already played it since it is my only level so far. Also what is with the maker score? When I get a Like it jumps like 30 points and then it seems to go down two or three points every hour that I don't get new Likes. I guess I should be lucky I got such a high score from a single level though. Thanks, anons.
Played and finished it. It was alright, some neat ideas. But the giant shaft of on/off blocks where you have to wait for an eternity felt a bit unnecessary, glad I didn't die after that part. Gave you a like.
Why do you think the entire ranking was almost entirely auto levels in 1? People don't like thinking, only brainless levels.
Grayson Martinez
>puzzlet still seething the stages he worked on for 15 hours are getting obliterated out of endless mario in mere seconds by us Meanwhile chads like me make another 20 sec on/off speedrun in 10 mins and get 5k+ plays in an hour
Is 32 the hard limit for uploaded courses? I adore this game and worry that I'll eventually hit the limit. Only at 6 stages so far, but I remember the hell of Smash only letting you save 99 stages (different than uploading I know, yeah yeah). Hopefully it's expandable with enough maker points?
Benjamin Jones
As thought, a combination of nu/v/ being shit and Boo's being an option has erased the comfy that used to be present in old threads. They really need to fix the game so that you have to have died at least 10 times on the level before you can boo it.
Adrian Ortiz
>tfw you like both styles of level but just want to contribute to the threads going to shit and making it a hostile environment to post levels to.
Hey I was the first one to beat your earlier version. I liked your level. You can get softblocked in the top section if you kill the shelled guy though. Also, don't forget to put three lives in your level to get more likes.
Kayden Foster
>Hopefully it's expandable with enough maker points? That's how it was in the first, but you started with 10 instead. So I'm pretty sure they will.

And two challenging originalish castle levels, not too many clears on these. HN7-MXN-1NF Y9V-M5P-TGG
Right now, yes. But many people speculate Nintendo will increase it after a while. Maybe all of that is an attempt to limit the amount of janky shit month 1 stages made by kids and shitters who will quit the game within a week but whose shit stages would have to linger around endless mario for eternity.
Jonathan Barnes
that would still suck for endless mode, Booing is a generally good addition. Just ignore speedrun/kaizo cucks.

Here's my shitty first attempt. Sort of a normal athletic style level. Platforms and tracks. Very basic. It's so much harder making levels without the touchscreen. But I'm too lazy to undock my switch.
Not bad, but a lot of your success is reliant on luck (it's easy to find the items but not everyone will look) and the lack of directional guidance makes it possible to go backwards during the vertical segment if you got the shortcut on the first try. Also not your fault but why the hell does Boom-Boom not fly lower? Nice course overall, user.
Zachary Wilson
Cool level user!
Dominic Clark
Played your Phantom Battleship and got a pathetic world record despite dying like 4 or 5 times kek. Good stage, well done really. Even with attention to endless mode by putting coins and 1ups here and there, great aesthetics too.
I'd definitely rank it as somewhere between normal and expert though, it's not that easy.
Oliver Wood
I've got two courses here, one a remake of a Mario Maker 1 level I had, and one a stage I hadn't finished until now. I worry they may both have endings that are difficult to the point people will just give up, but I've misjudged my stages before.
People probably quit out due to hidden block fuckery and the sandstorm in the subworld. I beat it quite easily though.
Henry Davis
Only if jannies ban them, but they shouldn't. Even Mario Kart was allowed to have Yea Forumseekend threads for months upon months.
Jaxson Butler
Just got through my backlog and downloaded the game. Were should I start, story mode, or online?
Josiah Sanders
Okay, you win. The best I could do was 29.5. Didn't think I'd spend that much time on a NSMBU level, I'm almost exclusively SMB with my playin right now.
Thanks, beat your level. Not bad for a speed level, and you gave the player room for control. Design is often limited in these levels as you're forced to only go one way, so I hope explore more options for these types of levels. PS. I fucked that mole up
Jaxon Edwards
Made a fun little remix of a Mario Bros 3 airship stage. It's short, sweet and to the point. Play it and rate it pls.
is there a reliable way to get a bob-omb to explode? I want to be able to make a wall of hard blocks that you have to trigger bob-ombs to blow away, but everything either causes them to unstack or just outright kills them
Cooper Edwards
>spend around 2 days (48 hours) on your level >want to provide a decent challenge that people will feel good and accomplished over finishing >almost nobody ends up playing it and the few that do says it's shit
I wanted to be able to finish in multiple ways, but it seems to be confusing. I tried to 'hide' the upper path and to make ot inaccessible from the start, but maybe it was a bit jerky. I spent my evening on this level, it's really time consuming! I almost didn't realise that the sun went down.

We're reaching bump limit. new thread
Ethan Barnes
Dang, mind telling me how I can improve it? Fair enough, I tried to make each zone small so you wouldn't have to replay much of anything in it even if you failed to get the blocks on your first pass.
Carson Ramirez
you can hold them to change them into an already armed state also if you hit them with fire enemies, fire flower shots, or those fire pillars they will ignite
Ian Phillips
Donut blocks to stack, switch blocks to get them to correct spot and burners that go off at the same time maybe
Justin Ross
That really sucks. Same here, but nobody will play it at all.
Jose Evans
Someone needs to make a parody of this in Mario Maker 2.

That picture hit me with nostalgia
Hudson Adams
29.5 is really good though, but I really had a good run with my 29.2. I think it could be improve by doing a single walljump to the left to avoid getting hit after the second mushroom. In my run I did two, right than left.
Camden Bailey
Haven't played much yet, and it took me awhile to figure out that I needed the spring. Fun level tho, I got a lot better at stopping the koopa shells from it
Jonathan Turner
Oh shit, wait a second. Did you ground pound to fall faster at the very end? Of course I think of that right after I put my Switch up to charge.
Connor Lopez
>lol why is everyone boo'ing and quitting my shitty level with kaizo blocks xD Retard. Back to the void of unplayed levels with you.
Grayson Martin
I feel like the blue snake block not long after the first checkpoint really should've just been a Twomp as well, because once it's gone you're fucked and forced to kill yourself. Neat level otherwise though.
Camden Cruz
not gonna post it in the next thread so I might as well.
Luis Lewis
No I did not. Yeah that could save time
Leo Howard
>I feel like the blue snake block not long after the first checkpoint really should've just been a Twomp as well, because once it's gone you're fucked and forced to kill yourself. Good point, I was worried the thomp would fuck with the pacing. But it would have probably made more sense.
thanks!
John Williams
This level design is legitimately retarded, like I would believe you if you told me an autistic kid designed it.
Carson Ward
Working on my first level atm, it's a concept-flip level using a lot of one-way platforms, but I'm having some trouble making a couple of things work the way I want. Any advice would be welcome I'm using original mario bros theme, is there any way to remove or otherwise hide the dotted outline of a P-door? I have my own 'puzzle' about working out where it is, but the dotted line kinda gives it away! Also any idea why using a door to a sealed room (walls each side to cancel scrolling) works but doesn't seem to want to work if I use a fucking pipe?
Zachary Wright
Oh, you didn't play it at all did you? There are no Kaizo blocks.
Andrew Roberts
Funnily enough, the key is what killed me. Finally found it with 60 seconds to go and thought I could make a mad dash for the exit but then I realized I forgot where it was. Decent level, user. Nice work.
Oliver Howard
Where are all the bad levels?
Jace Sanchez
Are you bored user. You already revealed you didn't play it. Why are you even in these threads?
>My level's not hard. I tested it myself. We'll be the judge of that, user.
Leo Green
Decent level. Not sure why people are flipping out.
Ryan Bell
If you want to make courses there are two power ups locked behind some story mode stuff, power ball from Mario Land and some dumb ass hammer suit that's new. If you don't intend to use those then story mode is pointless trash.
Gavin Scott
Good luck, man. Now you'll probably get a fuckin insane 28.
I'm fairly certain it's just a bored user blind posting to random levels.
Started outing himself almost instantly and just kept going.
Julian Garcia
so gay
Isaiah Howard
A New Beginning would work so much better as a standard stage with a checkpoint. The collect 30 coin part is ill suited. You could easily just incorporate those challenges into the regular course path. The course is also long for a stage sans checkpoint.
