Not really. I've heard bad things about the PC netcode and in general one bad connection can cause issues, plus it doesn't have very much single player content compared to the glut of stuff in the others, but that's because it's intended far more to be about the combat itself than the grind.

NT also has unique chat lines for each character to use before and during battle, which feature several of the iconic lines said by each character, including but not limited to Cloud saying "I'll tell you everything I know, and for free too!" and Onion Knight talking about sleeping in the princess' bed.

NT is an arcade game meant for Japs. Literally. Japs have great internet and live relatively close to each other, p2p is fine for them.

They made what they wanted to make and did a good job of doing so.

I've always wanted to try playing this, even though I'm not a FF fan by any means, because it seems kinda fun but making it 3v3 was a huge mistake.

I wish Team Ninja would cut their losses and just make Ninja Gaiden 4 already.

It's poorly designed. D1 and 2 had one of Square's best designing the combat system while NT strips a lot of shit down in attempting to make it a team game. The characters play more like Gundam than humanoids.

A bit of both, the PC port is supposedly rough in a few ways, but a lot of people get put off by the learning curve of the main mode being 3v3 now (when the previous game had assists and it's an FF spinoff, go figure) and that it's a multiplayer focused game when the original had a large amount of content to grind through against AI. Pretty valid score. The load times are garbage, matchmaking is awful and to move further in the story you have to play through six Random matches to unlock tokens to unlock cutscenes/story specific fights.

It's deserving, it's a shit game on top of being a bad port.

The only differences in how characters move between the PSP games and NT is that base dash speed is taken down a bit from ridiculous, dash is tied to a gauge, you have both dash types at once and dodging doesn't gain height. Stuff isn't stripped down either, a few things are modified or replaced and much is added or expanded upon.

Then they should stop being surprised when these kinds of games tank outside of Japan.

The multiplayer wasn't mandatory, though it was highly encouraged. Let's be honest, it's a big Japanese PSP game, even if it has a far better level of things to do singleplayer compared to NT. It also had a few team modes and assists as a stand-in for bigger teams. Regardless, the change in focus just makes it different.

Your character's number of possible actions is greatly reduced in order to push the team focus and the game is designed around the maps being huge and strategic points for stuff like the summoning mechanics. It's a lesser fighting game as a result and the elements added are mediocre.

It was one of the more experimental ideas they had that was just pretty pointless. You have a player level that goes up from doing any matches, and each level grants among other things Memoria which opens the story scenes and battles up.

that being said the update that had Tifa also lets you earn a lot of good XIV music and the updates did give a lot you're right.

AC has music from CD promos, collabs with Theatrhythm AC, music unlocks from the arcade-exclusive mode, etc. NT has been getting loads available in the shop from updates, and the boss tracks are exclusive to NT, but it's still missing a lot. I'm pretty sure all of the music is in the files for the game, since AC players can link their accounts to share unlocks between versions.

They aren't greatly reduced, on the contrary most if not all characters have an equal or greater number of actions. Every character now has dash brave attacks as well as every character barring two (special cases making up for it elsewhere) having at least 7 brave attacks total at once with many outstripping that due to job mechanics, unlike Duodecim where 6 was the maximum equippable limit, only a certain few reached that, a few others had some extra attacks that were mainly just worse variations and some characters (less than NT) had job swaps. The HP attack meme gets used a lot, but despite the extra and more useful brave attacks covering it already and most Duodecim characters having less HPs than braves on top of repeats in the air (covered by NT too in the one choice, like Fated Circle), a strong portion of the cast have access to a second HP attack through their HP choice or an Ex Skill, on top of them having more factors in general. Then there's Ex Skills themselves which range from unique buffs to extra new attacks, several based on character.
Now all that's out of the way, ironically the maps are barely much bigger on average than the PSP one, it just makes the map and positioning matter much more through the player count, summon cores and dash, which isn't stripping things down either.

Ah, that's a bit of a shame. I wasn't sure quite how much. Some are probably trapped in legal hell and they likely want some as arcade bonuses but I hope they're able to look past that for at least a few.
