For WAR, I pretty much just get my Storm's Path buff up, spend my enrages on Inner Chaos, and then spam Inner Release Fell Cleaves every time I can? Is there any more nuance to dealing damage than that?

Is GNB sort of the same, except you just use your 30 second cooldown combo when it's available and go back to your normal one while using your DoT and oGCD when it's available? What stats do I want on these two tanks?

There's not a whole lot going on in Gridania, the Elementals call most of the shots and unless you focus real hard on the zone, you don't really have time to get into a story of how the people deal with it. LL is a semi-corrupt pirate haven ran by an almost-despot, Ul'dah is the only one with a mostly functioning government with politics with the Sultana and the council. It's just easiest to get in to how Ul'dah functions since the wheels turn without player involvement.

Pretty much the only direction the other two could go in would be declaring war on the elementals with a Gelmoran splinter faction or attempting to overthrow Merylwebb and get things actually working. They won't touch Meryl, and an elemental conflict will pretty much reshape all of Gridania when it happens.

Ifrit is the first primal you encounter in both 1.0 and 2.0. It's where Minfillia's dad got rekt in 1.0 and was the headquarters of the old path of the twelve. Even though they've purged a lot of 1.0 stuff, the disproportionate importance of Ul'dah kind of lingers.
It's the best of the three cities anyway so it's fine, even if it is infested by lalafel scum.

Just the other day, my very own run from hell- Tank and healer have matching last names, paladin and white mage, healer's first name is Asuna and she was a vierra with an outfit comprised of three different cash chop items including the god forsaken k-mmo halo and the mentor crown to top it all off. The tank only pulled with provoke or melee skills, never with shield lob, and he ate mechanics like crazy which meant that miss Asuna needed to be up his ass with the cure IIs leaving her no mana to heal off residual room wide damage which killed me three times despite never standing in anything all run (at this point I started just healing myself and the other DPS with vercure). Then on the last boss when she ate shit to mechanics she got snippy at me for not reviving her instantly even though I did not have the fucking MP to do so on account of having to rezbot the bard and do most of my own healing. The real kicker though? The duty ends and they aren't in cutscene, they weren't even first timers. I wonder when we would have disbanded if I weren't on RDM.

I have runs like this as SMN sometimes where the only reason we make it is because I have to keep rezzing the healer. My personal favorite was the Tsukoyomi fight where there was two fucking summoners and both healers kept dropping like flies. I rezzed one three times and the other summoner rezzed the other 2 times. Eventually we wiped and both healers instantly rage quit. Its normal to see a rage quit but its not normally the people who are massive fuck ups that quit. Anyway we all waited got two new healers and the fight was completed perfectly in one try with no deaths.

I was actually shocked by the number of dialogue options. Even if it was all just a bunch of flavor text with no real bearing, it was at least a nice illusion of character choice in my railroaded linear storyline.
Now if only they could just let our character interact with other characters physically in some way to account for all races. At least for a few scenes. The amount of times I wish there was a "Hug Ryne/Alisaie" option in dialogue is staggering. Especially when they already have an embrace emote in the game that accounts for difference in player sizes.

Slowly getting through MSQ it's not as bad as people said it would be kinda comfy even.
But here's the thing I noticed in regards to quest mechanic variety. When it comes to levies you have all this variety like for example Imps impersonating cows and having to use special crystals on them or hell even escort quests. Then you have those instanced challenges like some voidsent knight and his dogs who you shouldn't kill since they open purple portals which makes the knight unkillable etc.

Why not incorporate these in the main quest structure? I'm enjoying the worldbuilding and everything but main quest variety itself is the issue.

Probably the best story I've played through in the last decade. Not just a good story, but good pacing, music and sound design, writing, characters, everything. Fair enough on the opinion user but I think its safe to say that even for high end raiders that eventually the focus becomes glamour for most. Having more options is always a benefit to everyone and to an extent even adding weapons to old primals and raids does add some kind of reason to run old content.

scoreboard guy here, my own anecdote about the GCs is that I've got a near 45% 1st place winrate on adders since Heavensward, and another 40% for 2nd place. 3rd place finishes are rare as fuck for me.
Frontlines actually feel pretty easy to carry if you're good at sniping kills and just shouting calls and s a lot to try and control the horde.
Ultimately just don't go into it expecting to win a lot as any GC unless you queue with eight because the 3 way nature means there's always twice as many losers as there are winners.

I too was once a MNK who took the RDM pill. I regretted it once I got RDM to 70. Boring class that has nothing unique going for it.

You don't get your real rotation until level 78, all of its new shit is poorly implemented at best and useless at worst, it still has the same problems it had in Stormblood with RoF slowing you down for no reason but also raping your DPS if you clip a GCD even slightly in its duration. Also PB being 120 seconds means it never lines up with RoF and feels like shit to use as a result.

I don't really care about dialog choices in MSQ, just give me more scenes where the job you currently are actually changes or adds to things.

They have no idea what they're doing with MNK. Whenever a new melee dps is released it steals their niche. Originally MNK was the fast class but then they made NIN. They made MNK the high damage low utility job next and then released SAM. Now MNK is just a mishmash of 3 or 4 different concepts and doesn't even have synergy with it's own kit, not to mention their stack mechanic and positionals are constantly getting fucked by the majority of the high end bosses.

I went with SAM and didn't look back. I'm honestly a pretty simple dude. I like big numbers, and MNK and RDM weren't really giving me them. SAM has a sword, big numbers, and your character doesn't scream all the time in combat. It's simple but has a fairly decent skill ceiling.

I don't think they'll do that though, partially because if we did defeat and merge our other self, we'd be so far beyond most threats out there that all but the strongest of enemies would be trivial. Also, that "fake echo" that Elidibus called Zenos's might actually be a similar thing -- whereas the three main Ascians had their complete soul and we had additional shards of our own, Zenos might've not so much rejoined his other souls so much as sucked out the souls of everyone in that machine we see Fordola on top of and achieved a similar effect by grafting them on to himself. Hell, he could even be further beyond by simply dumping more into himself.

They buffed the oGCD healing capability that made SCH broken in the first place even though they nuked their DPs rotation. SCH is still mandatory.

Between WHM and AST, WHM seems to have so much more personal DPS that it makes up for the lack of raid DPS. It's also just more fun to play right now.

AST isn't bad but it's going to need some help before Savage drops if people want to have any reason to play it over WHM/SCH.

No they're fine. Here's the skinny, 90% of players who play this game are terrible at it. Just straight up bad. To put that in perspective. People complain about double weaving. Which is using 2 off global cool down skills in between your global cool down skills. Despite the fact that even with a GCD of 2 seconds, which is about .20s faster than the average, a person with a ping of 400ms can still double weave without interference from lag.
Right now monk has the 2nd highest dps in the game. One could argue the highest but it would require timing based off server ticks and perfect latency. There biggest down side is they don't become fun until you level all the way up and the fact that they rely on positionals a lot(which was lessened with the true north buff this xpac).

That is absolute horseshit. Double weaving becomes literally impossible to execute without clipping if you have more than about 150ms of latency, and that's with a very basic GCD of 2.4. At 2 second GCD even a fantastic connection will struggle to double weave. At 400ms the entire game would become completely unplayable because you'd be unable to move out of AoEs before they went off.

ARR and Stormblood aren't terrible, they're just very hit or miss with A LOT of seemingly pointless quests.

Heavensward is consistently good, and Shadowbringers is consistently great. Please look forward to it.

One thing that could really help this game is shortening that ARR slog of fetch quests. Nothing of consequence happened for 70% of them and it was just fast travel from one place to the text to have a 3 sentence conversation and occasionally kill something. Shit needs to be pruned big time and I doubt anyone will complain.

I know they wouldn't have done this, but I kind of wished we would've had a slow progression of transformation signs a la Shadow of the Colossus. Skin gets paler and whiter, eyes lose their color, that sort of thing. It could've been a temporary thing that only the player can see on himself until the end of the MSQ, but I think it would've legit creeped out too many people to do.
