I've had similar issues. Sometimes I'll instantly just lose all speed after a jump. I'll do a small little hop then booms USF dead. But if that isn't your issue I think while you are in a big jump your aren't gaining reserves. So If you get a lot of air it's possible to lose it. Better to just drift off those ramps or not jump super high.

Other than speed the only thing to note about stats is how the characters drift. The name of the game is gaining reserves and keeping your boost levels. So being able to drift often while making turns tight is what is most important in life. Accel characters I believe have very comfortable drift angles.

In practice, MK's system just resultls in their being only one optimal character/kart combo used for all Time Trials.
With Crash's system there's some actual variety, since you can pick whoever you want in a stat and not worry about whether your loadout is optimal.

Want people to use characters they like rather than have a meta game where everyone is using the "optimal" build.

Accel class can maintain infinite boost because they can powerslide in straights and still corner well. They're fine.

Handling needs a complete overhaul to the powerslide angle. They can't stay straight and just zigzag into walls before getting any triple boosts if there are no corners present.

I used to hate CNK with a passion, but the more I played it, the more I liked it. The CGI cutscenes are great, they really get the characters right. The in-game animations are also nice, all characters have idle and jumping animations. Oxide Team looks terrible, but N.Tropy, N.Gin and Coco look amazing. The only thing I don't like at all is the podium animations.

Fuck this weapon buff bullshit. I've been raped by weapons today in ways that I didn't think were even possible. Every single race is just non-stop weapon shower, dodging missiles while driving under clock and being chased by orbs. I unironically get mad when I lose to players who are clearly inferior in skills (e.g. they don't use shortcuts or can't maintain USF for shit) because I get fucked by RNG. Fuck I'm mad. I just got hit by three clocks in Barin Ruins which is one of the shorter tracks in the game, two of the clocks being on the first lap. That's two clocks in less than a minute. I still won but I feel no joy, just pure frustration and exhaustion. All I can think is "Finally that fucking madhouse is over. Time for the next one."

I usually main Balanced but have to play Ami for Nitro points, yeah the speed is nice but I really miss being able to take corners like I can with balanced which usually gives me an edge on speed characters.
Plus I can hold USF like no other with balanced on muscle memory alone on pretty much every map while I struggle on speed with some of the more intense turns, it's not the turns that get me (u-turning and air braking solve this issue) it's keeping enough reserves before the turns.

Since everybody playing a copy of the game with a connected console is in it, 5% seems easy. Only 20% would even be trying and only 10% or less would have the spare time to play daily. A lot of game owners would be casuals, kids, people who own it for parties, 40 hour week wagecucks, etc.

If it was opt-in, it would be a tougher race.

Not entirely true, the final super turbo pad before the finish line is actually faster than every other super turbo pad in the game (bar maybe Tiny Temple I think) and maintaining that USF through a second/third lap is even more challenging than the first.
