Conquest Lunatic is the best FE I've ever played.
Good music and hardcore gameplay; the peanut butter and jelly of video games.
I had no idea FE fans hated it so much until I went to /feg/.
I liked it as well. Still has one of the most comfiest songs I've ever heard.

nah. Conquest Lunatic is genuinely difficult. Thracia's difficulty is overstated, as the player is way waaay more bullshit. Every other unit you get in Thracia is a Camilla or a Raven levels of good.

The Nohr characters were great. The story did indeed suck, though.

It's noticable that a vast majority of them either hadn't or at minimum played Awakening/Birthright on normal difficulty.

I think the gameplay is serviceable in birthright and great in conquest, and the music is good.
It's really too bad about everything else.
I also really liked the male armor designs. The female armor designs would have been good without the ass windows
Fates in general is a touchy subject.
Gatekeepers hate it because it's a post-awakening game. Storyfags hate it because of obvious reasons. Normalfags/redditors hate the petting feature and Camilla, the bane of their existence. Gameplayfags hate 2/3rds of it. Heroesfags hate it because characters keep getting alts over characters they want.
I'm sure there's other camps I'm missing, but the point is that really only musicfags can say they like Fates without any asterisks.
I liked it myself. Even if you skip the battles it's an enjoyable time. I am biased, though, I also liked Awakening quite a lot and I played on the japanese version with the fan translation so I got to facerub waifus, put them in bikinis and enjoy moderately good voice acting.
I am also the type tonlike pretty much every game in the series, so I am not the type who will stick to 1 game and shit on everything else.

the defining characteristic in FE5 is that each map and its gimmick varied greatly from one chapter to another. and that's exactly how Conquest played out
interviews
they explicitly said that Conquest was meant for more classic fans, and it doesn't get more definitively classic FE than FE5 after you look past FE4 (which was heavy inspiration for Awakening)

maps are very different in conquest than in thracia. Thracia's maps boil down more to the objective and the obstacles to get to it. there are tons of ballista, fog of war, endless reinforcements, you have to visit villas, etc. The game is also designed around you changing your whole party from some types of maps to the other, you're supposed to have an outdoors team and an indoors team. Stats cap pretty low at 20 so even if someone misses out half the game, you can promote them early a few chapters before the final map and they'll be on par with everyone else and the average enemy in thracia is pretty weak outside of bosses.
Conquest maps revolve more around tangible gimmicks of the map, more often than not surrounding effects by dragon vein points. Gimmicks revolve around things like changing terrain, breakable objects damage over time and enemy skill setups. Stats are way more important can't freely change your characters either as enemies become progressively stronger and characters missing out on exp for long periods of time can have serious consequences later on.
I liked Birthright. I didn't like how bullshit retarded some of Conquest's maps were. I still haven't finished it because of the final map.

I really like it
I don't care for characters and story so it didn't matter to me, the gameplay was way easier and simpler than in Conquest but still enjoyable, the music is still great but what made me like it the most are the new classes, their skills and the hoshidian weapon gimmicks.

I wish I could fool around with Azura's STR growths but dancers are so valuable and she's so squishy as a dancer.
At the very least I want to give her a blessed lance like she has in all of her art but she can't even hold it without a C rank in lances.
in Revelations you don't need an Dancer, you can go nuts. Her Str growth is just silly.
