Nay. That game is objectively bad.

Your life is objectively bad yet you keep living it

They're all objectively bad.

It must not be bad then.

Survival instinct is a hard thing to break. Also, it's actually possible to be too depressed to kill yourself.

Relatable

Oblivion is trash. Try a real rpg instead like Daggerfall.

Nice try stella but Morrowind’s soundtrack was better

youtu.be/xULTMMgwLuo

Not everyone who comes here is a suicidal faggot like you.

>Best Sound track
>Best guild quests
>Modding still alive
>Actually has overhauls that everyone likes instead of the endless laughing when you ask about overhauls for Skyrim
>NPCs that actually had lives that caused them to go other cities and have lives

It is really amazing. Too bad about Horse armor, and a the NPC unmodded faces.

Thats not Gothic 2

What a sad, ugly fatso

I've completed The Shivering Isles 6 times and the main story 0 times

>Procedural generation is good when it's old

Does a Zoomer such as yourself always need something flashy to get your attention?

Took me way too long to figure out that this is Oblivion.
Also Daggerfall is better.

>The goal is to kill all the guests, and a bonus is given if nobody witnesses any murder.

>For an unknown reason, the AI of the people in the house is seriously lacking. They will in fact never notice when the Hero kills another guest with a melee weapon, even if done in plain sight.
>despite all the stealthy options available, the Hero can enter in full Shrouded Armor, announce themselves as an assassin, and proceed to slash every guest with the Blade of Woe in plain sight of each other, and still
>receive
>the mission bonus.

Damn Drangleic Castle looks like THAT?

>You are a zoomer if you don't like bland procedural generated copy cut environments
Buzzword faggot

>daggerfall
This always gets posted but can someone explain why it's so good? Because it was terrible when I played it.

What kind of mod did you install on your Skyrim? looks like dog shit.

I wonder what a curse it must be to have grown up with only the 7th gen graphics and to be incapable of enjoying a game regardless of graphics.

Imagine being such a shit sucking faggot that you couldn't enjoy PlayStation 1, Xbox, or any game before 2008.

weren't the guests high, hallucinating and all in that quest?

Still not retarded enough.

Daggerfall sucks.

The cities are boring and lifeless, NPC's are just walking dolls who all have the same stock lines.

There are thousands of towns, but very little reason to visit any of them. They all just have the same stores, the same temples, the same guilds, and of course lots of empty houses.

There are thousands of dungeons, but exploring them is kind of boring. The combat is clunky, the treasures are mostly just the same "you found 50 gold!" or "you found some slightly better armor!" you see in every RPG. Or, occasionally you'll find a map that leads to a "secret" dungeon that's no more awesome than the dungeon you were just in. Yippee!

Oh, and did someone say "procedural generation"?

99% of the game's towns and dungeons were computer generated. Don't even expect a professional level of quality in the game's map design, you won't find it. The only people who like Daggerfall are poorfags who can't play Morrowind and Oblivion.

If I wanted to comb randomly generated dungeons for loot, I'd play Nethack, at least Nethack has a goal to look forward to.

If I wanted to explore gloomy labyrinths in 90's 3D, I'd download one of countless fan-made levels for Doom or Quake. At least those games have decent combat.

If I wanted to "roleplay" and create a story about my character in a single player game, I'd play Fallout. At least Fallout has unique NPC's and some neat dialogue trees.

If I wanted to experience the absolute worst of these three things, I'd play Daggerfall.

>best soundtrack
>in a series where (not counting ambient music, like in taverns) you're lucky if you get

Exactly what my first thought was.

isnt cyrodiil supposed to be a jungle?

Only on my third play through of Gothic 2 I joined the mages, but it was pretty cool. Have fun OP!

Tiber Septim achieved CHIM and reshaped the land to be the seat of his Empire.

what the fuck?

Because Morrowind was too popular on Yea Forums to like. Daggerfall is shitty enough that a lot of people will dislike it, and you still feel like a special snowflake. Seriously, Daggerfall is a procedural endless expanse of boring nothingness.

Now, whether Morrowind is better than Oblivion... I'd argue it is.

The entire Warp in the West storyline explains dragon breaks and more lore about the Talos oversoul.

Unironically one of the best TES storylines

Oblivion is and will always be the goat WRPG

Morrowinds combat is honestly a dealbreaker

They retconned it into standard european fantasy land because lord of the rings was popular when the game was being made

What is the general consensus on Divinity OS1 and 2?

Attached: 1528232447834.png (720x712, 676K)

You know what's a real deal breaker?

>Your opinion when your first RPG was TES IV

Attached: Burton161.png (800x500, 775K)

What’s a worse first Oblivion or Skyrim?

oblivion is fuckong trash, the only people who like it are zoomers who got it on xbox from their daddies

I don't recall anything like that, they just want to find the money. If you use persuasion to get them to team up with you then when there's only two left they assume it's the other person and kill them then try to break open the front door. I recall the retired rearguard soldier will run upstairs and equip his old gear and attempt to kill you if you don't become friends with him.

Been replaying this game and boy is it way better than Skyrim, everything other than animation is better than Skyrim.
I'm actually enjoying the game vanilla, having to actually build a character keeps you invested and the quests are just way more diverse and interesting than Skyrim.
How the fuck did they drop the ball so hard with Skyrim, Oblivion is still not as in depth as Morrowind but has plenty of it's own strengths like in the quests and the characters that have their own lives and routines that gives off a sense of being alive.
What the fuck happened to Bethesda that everything they do is worse with every new game?

Attached: 22330_20190625180355_1.png (1920x1080, 2.55M)

I started with Oblivion and went back to Morrowind and Daggerfall. Do people who start with Skyrim ever go back or are they just zoomers?

>I've completed The Shivering Isles 6 times and the main story 0 times
How can you let Sean Bean live?

Lord of the Rings was huge at the time and they were hoping to hit a much wider audience than Morrowind. Generic fantasy was probably the right choice, boring as it is.

They look at it once and go "nope"
fucking zoomers

No, it wasn't the right choice. Pandering is never the right choice.

Is this a game that was made by its Soundtrack? I still remember the songs and they were so fucking good, and the atmosphere, the forests, the everything. Fuck

Let's get to bashing butts, as well as these nuts! ;)

funny cunt
Gothic II is still better

So anyway what are some games? Specifically looking for something like Act 4 of Witcher 1.

soundtrack generally isn't the first thing you think about with a game but it can really make or break an experience

Oblivion is fucking horribly broken
Even Skyrim is better and thats saying a lot
Morrowind >>>>>>>>>> Skyrim >>>> Oblivion

It is if it makes you a boatload of money which allows you to work on one of your dream games (fallout 3).

>dream game
Why was it so bad then? Fucking Todd should've let Troika make Fallout 3

Oblivion has unironically more soul. But yeah its worse.

Oblivion with mods is much better than Skyrim.

So it is Underrail thread.

Troika was already dead by that point, they died in 2004. And just because working on it was a dream come true for Todd doesn't mean it would turn out well.

I do think Bethesda could probably make an alright Ultima game though.

>Fallout 3
>Dream game
Fallout is just a testbed for TES games. You didn't fall for one of Todd's lies, did you?

>Ultima
They'd make Underworld Ascendant look like a masterpiece.
Time to go watch Spoony's Ultima series again.

You can literally look up his newsgroup posts from decades ago where he lists fallout 1 and 2 as some of his favorite games. He had no reason to lie about that. Is it really that hard to believe that Fallout 3 was a passion project? Sure it's not great but I genuinely think they cared about it. I don't know why they seemed to stop caring with Fallout 4 but that's another story.

If there's one thing Bethesda will commit to, it's being able to interact with every random piece of shit in the environment, and that's kind of the core of Ultima. You couldn't do worse than Pagan and Ascension anyway.

>a passion project
Fallout 3 was a cynically produced PRODUCT, not a dream project, not a labor of love. It took superficial and recognizable things from the original Fallout and slapped them onto an Oblivion skeleton for big bucks. The last time they genuinely cared was Shivering Isles.

Man it is not cheap to create the amount of assets that go into a game like Fallout 3 and by the time it came out Fallout was a totally obscure franchise with no name recognition outside of NMA grognards. Those "recognizable elements" were brand new to 99% of the audience and so one might more kindly read it as homage to the classics rather than just meaningless references no one was going to get anyway.

The fallout name meant nothing from a marketing perspective at that point. The only reason to commit to it was passion.

Good try but my first rpg was baulders gate, keep making excuses for morrowmind being a pisspoor visual novel

Morrowind has shit combat and everyone agrees, but the other 90% of the game is so good it doesn't matter. You don't play it for the combat.

I want Bob to lick peanut butter off my butt!

>actually believing this
Where is that passion? New Vegas had it. Fallout 3, 4 or 76 didn't.

atleast he didn't post gothic 2

This would be true if it weren't for Div: OS 1 and 2.

Merely rendering all of the classic Fallout imagery in big budget 3D was the obvious result of passion just like fangames like Chrono Resurrection. Passion does not equal quality you fucking idiot.

Are there any good overhaul mods for oblivion these days?

I've already played the vanilla game a ton, but never really looked at the modding scene.

you can have a flying horse
you can also be a wereboar
it also has a skill system that isn't dumbed down, a magic system that isn't dumbed down, the ability to climb on everything, and naked tiddies

Why would I suddenly discuss DA:O?

>Big budget 3d
IT WOULD BE JUST AS "EXPENSIVE" TO DO ALL THAT FOR ANY NEW IP.

>B-b-but Bethesda picked Fallout to spend that money on instead of something else, that means muh passion!
No you retard. They decided to cash in on an already established brand while doing the bare minimum. WHY ARE THERE NO FUCKING CARS? WHERE ARE THE CARS BETHESDA?

Attached: COME ON AND SLAM.webm (1280x640, 851K)

I've tried out some and one thing i can say is that, they change things A LOT. Sure they provide some very nice features and extras, but they completely reform the game and up the difficulty up to 11, im not sure which one might suit you best but what i can say is that you gonna have to play the game differently while using one of these overhauls or god forbid go for that huge mess of an overhauls bundle[\spoiler]

I thought this is a Gothic2 thread when I saw the thumbnail - it looks like the monastery of fire mages.

Attached: dafaq.png (1909x1083, 1.22M)

That's not X3TC tho

So they decided to "cash in" on and "established brand" that none of their target audience was aware of or cared about. Retard. Fallout was not some household name, it was an old CRPG that you couldn't even get running easily on modern PCs at the time and was no longer being sold anywhere. In order to cash in on something, you need an actually popular, well known franchise.

>Fallout 2: 1998
>Fallout 3: 2008
>Fallout wasn't a household name to RPG enthusiasts
God you're fucking stupid. Hope this is bait for your sake.

Attached: 1559577851123.jpg (1296x745, 91K)

FO4 is the first true piece of shit game from Bethesda.

oblivion activates my gag reflex

>Isn't dumbed down
Half the skills are useless languages that do nothing, there are no armor skills and magic has less effects than Morrowind despite "muh noclip" spell that was needed because Daggerfall's generator would make obscene messes that couldn't be navigated without it. Daggerfall has less meaningful skills than Oblivion.

>They decided to cash in on an already established brand
This is where you fuck up. Fallout was a dead brand for about 10 years before fallout 3. There was no prestige or recognition behind the name.

>pc doesnt have controller support
>even though the game release on consoles

WHAT
REASON

>objective marker simulator
>the greatest rpg of all time

Attached: 1560368351578.jpg (1200x950, 81K)

First off. Established brand != recognized brand. Second, 10 years is not a long time, and it's ridiculous to think that RPG fans wouldn't be excited for a reboot.

Attached: 1558826618435.png (600x600, 443K)

Nigga no fucking rpg fans went 10 years thinking "oh gosh, i want a sequel to fallout 2". Fallout 2 was not one of those RPGs that everyone held up as a pillar for RPGs, we're not talking about planescape or baldurs gate here.

It's better than Morrowind's often vague hard to follow instructions. You usually didn't have a quest marker where it didn't make sense.

beat gothic 1 and 2 like 50 times each, never touched G3

Should I take the plunge? Is it any good?

It's agressively just okay with the official/fanmade enhanced mod. Simply feels way too empty for the world's size and the plot's length. If you loved the previous games it's worth a try at least.
Stay away from the expansion, though.

Attached: g3.jpg (1600x900, 345K)

well it's better than Arcana, it definitely can be fun at times, if you miss some gothic and got nothing else to do go for it, but install patches and shit

>Fallout wasn't well known but fucking planescape is.
Yea, you're just parroting shit you heard here. Planescape was a commercial failure (Avellone himself has admitted this) and it sold less than 400k copies when it was relevant. FO 1 sold 500-600k and FO2 sold 600-700k, and both were considered very successful for their budgets.

planescape:torment was a cult classic, that along with baldurs gate have been the games that have been brought up as laying the framework for the genre. It is one of the most critically acclaimed games in the genre. It was not a commercial failure and that is not what Avellone says in the quote you are referring to, he said that it was not a major monetary success but it was profitable. The actual quote you ripped is from a video game journo.

Come on m8, what about all the shitty ports of console games that never bothered to make decent keyboard/mouse controls? So many of them are practically unplayable without controllers.

Driving games are better on controller than keyboard.

>lol nah
some quality writing there

THERE'S A PSYCHOPATH ON THE LOOSE

To clarify, "Warp in the West" and the very concept of dragon breaks were added in Morrowind to explain and consolidate all the Daggerfall endings. That's also when they decided Talos would be a god in the Imperial pantheon.

Daggerfall doesn't actually have that stuff in its own story or lore, but when you do have the lore knowledge from the future games the new context does make it a lot more interesting retroactively.
Still worth a play whether you're a lorefag or not because it's a good game regardless.

Attached: morgiah.png (640x480, 35K)

>despite "muh noclip" spell
You sure you aren't thinking of Arena? Daggerfall didn't have anything like that. It dropped the create/destroy wall/floor spell effects from its predecessor. You could (and frequently would by accident) clip into the void just because the dungeon geometry was shoddily put together and the physics was broken, but there wasn't any spells dedicated to it. Generally if you found a broken dungeon arrangement the course of action you'd take would be to use the ] and [ cheats which cycle through all the quest spawn points.

Play Risen instead

Good job OP. today you were not a faggot

TES lore mostly consists of retcons shat out by Cuckshite and co. to explain why nothing in-game reflects the "lore". Shit like dragon break, different khajiit forms and cyrodiil jungle are typical examples

>We want to have the Oblivions audience but we're too poor and retarded to make a functional game

When will the germans ever learn

also third-person singleplayer (shooters) if accuracy isn't important

language skills don't let you 'chat' with anything unfortunately. would have been cool if you could use them in quests to, for example, negotiate with a monster instead of killing it, but bethesda didn't think that far ahead.

if you've mastered your orc language skill (which would be an absurd grind consisting of first buying training all the way to the cap of 51 then loading in and out of a dungeon a few hundred times to repeatedly spawn new monsters for the remaining 49 points) then what it really means is that about half the orcs you encounter won't attack on sight. of course even then they still count as enemies so they can block your path in doorways and prevent you form resting within 20ft so you will sometimes need to fight them anyway, along with every other enemy including the other half of orcs that still attack you.

daggerfall as a whole is great and I love the idea of languages but holy hell were they some of the most poorly and lazily implemented skills ever. there's no alternative playstyles or quest paths they enable, and the kind of character you would expect them to complement most (stealth) they can actually interfere with since if one of the enemies you need to kill happened to pass the language check, they automatically detect you and can't be backstabbed like normal hostile enemies.

I hope daggerfall unity does something with them, the nice thing about daggerfall's quest system when it comes to potential modding is that you can just keep throwing new quests into the random pool without having to worry about extra set up or conflicting with existing quests.

you posted the wrong picture.

Attached: 1560741730334.jpg (1024x768, 81K)

lol. nice effort, op. you're ok.

If TES VI doesn't have Soule in it then I don't think it will ever archieve the magic of the previous games

Why do slave and g*ermans love this janky piece of shit so much

Money

Morrowind is about as vague as the picture of your brain lad.

the protags job in diablo is to investigate some shit and secure some special rocks, your fate in morrowind is dealing with people that have used divine tools for their own ends. WHAT YOU MEAN SOMEONE WHO COMBATS GODLIKE ENEMIES CAN LEARN HOW TO CAST, CROUCH, PICK LOCKS AND SWING A SWORD?!!?!

Not even the greatest in its own series.

Any good complete overhauls that makes this game good. I really don't have the energy to spend hours on modding bullshit that won't work in the end.

You don't play roles in these games. Your only role is of omnipotent character. Your playthrough is merely choosing what side activities to partake in. That's not an RPG, that's an open-world sandbox. Whatever its reason to be one, it's still one. In an RPG when you chose a role you are limited by it.
