Read Dead Redemption 2

Just finished this, and it was fucking great. Gonna start a new game when I finish mucking around in post-game. Let's discuss this game. Might give online a go too.

Do you think they have more planned for 1's map, and the unfinished Mexico portion?

does starting a new game replace your previous save?

I'm not sure, that's why I'm putting my completed save on a USB stick.

cool blog fag
this is a fucking imageboard

No, it starts a new save file.

>no single player DLC ever
>rockstar won't even add the new guns, horses, clothes, etc they made for the shitty barren online to single player
>still can't explore New Austin as Arthur

Attached: 1561481444347.png (1000x1000, 1019K)

>Do you think they have more planned for 1's map, and the unfinished Mexico portion?

I have a feeling they're going to use those assets to easily remake the first game.

This is why I'm still in chapter 3.

What's really the point in finishing the game? They didn't give a shit about GTA V, why should this one be any different?

Fuck online shit.

Not sure why people think this game was great.
It was tedious and R* emphasised small details / realism at the expense of gameplay and fun.

I thought Yea Forums hated DLC.
GTAV and RDR2 both wrap up nicely. I don't see the need for DLC.

Cowboys VS Aliens DLC would be funny though.

>do a mission
>literally have to hold A for three minutes to follow behind a guy while we walk along the edge of a cliff, then use binoculars, all while fucking nothing happens except for dan houser's ebin dialogue that he thinks is genius
>one of the dumbfuck AI companions nudges my horse off of the fucking cliff and i fail the mission because the horse controls in this game are AIDS
>the checkpoint makes me redo the whole boring section over again
i generally enjoy the game, but rockstar's mission design is worse than it's ever been

Attached: 1526436024347.jpg (285x322, 46K)

>at the expense of gameplay and fun

I completely disagree. The gunplay is tremendously enjoyable, as is your freedom to do whatever you want in the fucking huge map you're given.

Attached: 1548057519538.webm (1280x720, 1.31M)

I seriously hope so. They got these sections as well as a lot of current models they could use.

I just want more single player content, they've added nothing but a handful of graphical patches since release but they keep dumping new shit into the terrible online that nobody plays

Like I'd even be fine without a new questline or whatever if they just added the online guns and horses and shit, they already have them modeled and coded in but they refuse to put them into single player for no reason. It's a fucking cowboy simulator and there are only three fucking revolvers in the game

>just want more single player content

Why? You're given more than enough. They could've even made John's part DLC but didn't. I swear you manbabies will cry about anything.

If they do remake it it'll be a next gen re-release and you'll have to buy it again

>What's really the point in finishing the game?
It opens up the first game's map and you can still do any stranger missions you missed in postgame

>no undead nightmare 2

Attached: brainlett.jpg (392x379, 119K)

Yeah why would I want more stuff to do in a game I like

>I have a feeling they're going to use those assets to easily remake the first game.
...Why? The first game would feel shitty with 2's slower controls and movement. Is this something people actually want?

But I like Arthur

Gamers really are entitled.

Don't act like you're owed it, when you already have a full game.

So do I, a lot more than John honestly

Got a lump in my throat. Never seen a character in vidya of all my 37 years deliver such a vulnerable and sincere line.

Attached: 28d.jpg (1280x720, 84K)

I'm not acting like I'm owed it you chimp, I'm just saying it makes no sense for them to continually add content to the online but not to the single player when most people want more stuff single player and don't give a shit about the online

>when most people want more stuff single player and don't give a shit about the online

their bank says otherwise

buy shark cards goy

>that mumbling for one minute straight before he delivers the line
Absolutely incredible writing and acting right there.

Their bank says GTA online was a goldmine and they were expecting the same thing from RDR2 online when that's very clearly not happening

His voice actor is next level talented. I remember a thread near release where someone explained Arthur's accent is now an extinct one which did actually exist around that time. Mindblowing.

I would 100% be fine with RDR remade into this game with RDR 2 features. Fucking 2 games in one with 3 characters to play as.

Could even throw an updated undead nightmare into the mix that adds Arthur and even a few extra missions for Jack.

Except take two reports show rdo doing better than GTAO when the timelines are aligned.

>when that's very clearly not happening

Attached: 1561531683803.jpg (331x132, 5K)

Show me otherwise then business experts

Online is shit too for the exact reason. All the shit coded for singleplayer could be included but instead they're jews that insist on drip-feeding existing stuff.

>Now thatRed Dead Onlinehas had several months to build an audience, how is it faring? Quite well, apparently. During an earnings call, Take-Two chief Strauss Zelnickstatedthat theRed Dead Redemption 2multiplayer component was "performing better" thanGTA Onlinewas at a similarly early point in its history.

I'm just so happy the gunplay and physics are good, unlike GTAV. I fucking love blowing the legs off people running, and watching them cartwheel.

Attached: 1562141042350.jpg (486x457, 65K)

>"i-it's doing great, please buy more gold bars"
>won't give any numbers

Attached: 1558500877190.png (377x449, 42K)

Nice cope lol. Guess that's all that's left after the delusion is shattered.

>ride back to old camp sites as John
>can faintly hear the gang singing and dancing then some dialogue from specific characters

Attached: tumblr_nq1t6uTqRq1qcsnnso1_540.gif (540x304, 1.99M)

Why would they say one of their best selling games ever is doing poorly with its online, numbnuts?

That's not what they said, retard. Learn to fucking read.

Why would Rockstar need to lie?
It started rough, but it is more stable and enjoyable as of the last few months.

You can't be this stupid

Apparently you can, however.

One of the best video game protagonists in a long time. Roger Clark is a genius.

Attached: 1546219711215.png (1831x2160, 828K)

Good work dipshit

For me its how detailed the world was, it was basically a love letter to the parts of the US that is't NYC or CA. Hunting/ crafting is diverse and fun. The open world was dense with all sorts of things to explore and encounter (no copy/ paste Ubishit). The contextual NPC interaction was amazing.

It basically set the next high-water mark for open world games, instead of toeing the line.

Attached: 1536201311719.jpg (1728x1080, 236K)

Best game ever made

I want to eat Sadie's fat unwashed ass.

LENNY
FUNNY
MUNNY

Rockstar basically gives us a virtual Disneyland but people will just rush through the restrictive campaign and ever touch it again, missing like 80% of the game's great open-ended or loosely structured content and lament on the game being "okay".

These same people will sit in a canoe with Kratos blabbering on about dumb shit for 4 hours and call it GOTY.

It's like, bro you like movies, not videogames.

Attached: 1547051160977.jpg (696x388, 42K)

Agreed, it's a phenomenal game Yea Forums shits on because it's not on PC or Switch.

OP here, I've been playing it since release and managed to avoid spoilers. If only Rockstar and RGG Studios got together to make a Yakuza game on this level.

Can't wait for the PC release.
Game is going to look insane.

I love this game. The bugs are legitimately hilarious.

youtu.be/dASN-1aNKrY

Attached: 1528420380929.jpg (253x125, 16K)

I've legitimately spent more time hunting and wrangling wild horses than I have doing missions or sidequests, this is the first open world game I've ever played that I actually enjoy just wandering around and fucking around in mindlessly, I never got into that with GTA or anything but in this one it's seriously fun to just wander around exploring and hunting and shit

THIS, ARE THEY FUCKING STUPID OR SOMETHING?

Attached: how 2 make frank fries.webm (720x720, 2.68M)

>you can't swim as john
When does being true to last game is good a d when is it stupid?

Just wrapping up the assache that is the gold medal trophy, and then I never have to play this shit again.

Aside from the map itself and strangers you meet along the road I can't think of a single thing I liked about this shitfest, after this and GTAV I am never giving Rockstar my money again...

there was a pc menu leak
exact same fashion as GTAV

>I hate this game so I 100%ed it

Attached: 1561601305079.png (1064x983, 1.55M)

Kino

Attached: shooty.webm (1280x720, 2.53M)

Just like PC Bloodborne too, right

Attached: 1528420512734.png (330x319, 178K)

Being an autist completionist is hell...

My biggest gripe with the game is making Javier a bro, then having him inexplicably turn into a simple-minded retard like Bill.

Same reason I hate(love) Yakuza 5.

In motion it really is something else.

Attached: wd.webm (1280x720, 2.48M)

Also, I wish the death animations lasted longer when you die, as it does in GTAIV.

Enough with this meme. I played it and it is horrible

I can't wait for this on PC. Been playing Max Payne 3 and GTAV with a physics mod so much lately.
Okay, contrarian.

>>still can't explore New Austin as Arthur
this pisses me off so bad since it basically means it's impossible to finish the challenges as Arthur.

Someone better make a mod quick if it ever comes out on PC.

Attached: 1554181012800.png (695x618, 552K)

What's contrarian is calling a boring game fun

Calling a fun game boring because you're a contrarian zoomer with a short attention span.

Pretty sure there's a bug where you can go everywhere as Arthur without getting cops. Same thing with Trevor during the Cleetus side-mission.

I swear you guys are doing this on purpose. This is one of the worse fucking game ever made. People praising the acting are nothing but Hollywood cock sucker. The most pointless story ever told with a retarted main character. forgettable trash With boring gameplay. Herr duh I have cancer and afraid , so deep guys

#rekt

Nothing is more fun than first person Saint Denis genocide

fuck off ESL retard

This is the most tedious and unfun game I have ever played. It has nothing to do with age or attention span

what's with all the shitposting ESLs lately

You are correct. I used that bug to get into New Elizabeth and complete the remaining challanges with Arthur. Don't know if they patched it, though.

>This is the most tedious and unfun game I have ever played.

Then you really need to play more games.

The GTAV bug is still around, so hopefully this one is too.

the cutscene for 100% is heart wrenching goo

You just hate it because it's popular.

Yeah, the hunting is pretty fun and I'm a person who usually hates doing dumb side missions to grind.
I think its because it feels a lot more involved.
You have to go to an animals habitat, you can't run around and make a lot of noise, the bait and scent mechanics mean you need to consider your angle to your prey, and the limited space on your horse means you have to actually aim for the vital organs to get a one shot kill and preserve the hide and carcass for max profit.

Attached: rdr2 horseback carcass.jpg (2048x1152, 538K)

they did patch it because rockstar hates fun

well it is summer

Fellas.
Are we getting SP dlc?

I've played hundreds of games going back to the genesis. This is worse than all of them. I have never been so bored by a game. Only some really old atari shit might be worse

I enjoy plenty of popular games

Okay, thanks for confirming you're just a downright brainlet.

>its a Nite Folk ambush episode

Attached: aaaaaaaaagh-karin.png (482x436, 175K)

God they're spoooy as hell. Their movement and noises.

>trotting through the swamp at night and its foggy as hell
>your horse starts freaking out
>hear some weird animal cries
>expand minimap and see a horde of red dots converging on you
>yfw

youtube.com/watch?v=ma6XbvekTi8
The music at 42:14 will sometimes play for like half an hour straight when I'm wandering around Roanoke, it's fucking creepy as shit

you're the ultimate brainlet, online has objectively better content because you aren't playing as someone strapped down by his story, so they are able to do much more interms of content.

in addition to this, the online has objectively better gameplay.

When the fuck will R* actually announce this for PC? why do the have to be such secretive fucking spergs about it??? just say something! anything!

NOOOOOPE

>Even the simplest clothing and weapons are locked behind rank level
>Prices of everything jacked up to the 9th degree while rewards are nerfed to a trickle to encourage microtransactions
>Matchmaking unfairly pits low levels with under powered equipment against players in their hundreds with superior equipment
>Roving posse's of assholes ganging up on solo players
>Unfinished online "campaign"
>All stranger dialogue are unskippable and you're forced to listen to their entire lifes story
>Saddie is still present

the real question is do you get a fresh slot for your pictures or is it tied to social club

why do incels hate sadie

this game has such amazing atmosphere

I hated her when the game started pushing her in chapter 3, then I actually started to really like her in chapter 6, then I hated her again in the epilogue. It's like different people wrote different sections of her dialogue

I hated everyone except Charles if that makes you feel any better.

Wouldn't be surprised, there was a whole team of writers doing dialogue for RDR2

Yea Forums hates women who aren't a blubbering mess on the floor

We had Colm's men controlled, all they had to do was sit there and enjoy watching the prick hang, and then that angsty bitch had to lose her cool, and start a fucking riot in the middle of town.

Change her voice and she immediately improves 10 fold.

I like her voice but her voice direction was super obnoxious at times, she was fine when she was being serious or talking shit but when she was trying to be silly and funny she was just annoying

why does john always sound so pissed off when I greet people while arthur acts like a cheerful, normal dude

>Even the simplest clothing and weapons are locked behind rank level
Having items and clothes level locked is an element in any online game, terms like "simple" are subjective and mean nothing.
All items can be purchased using gold(besides weapons) regardless of level, and gold is easily available, and given to the player in gracious amounts at any given opportunity.

>Prices of everything jacked up to the 9th degree while rewards are nerfed to a trickle to encourage microtransactions
I clear you didn't do more but scan reddit after the first week of beta, they prices have been fixed and more then appropriate, you earn tons of money and their are all sorts of bonuses for playing missions for the first time for example, the economy is an peak shape which is why you can't find any comments like this since the online officially launched, your whole point is just null and void.

>Matchmaking unfairly pits low levels with under powered equipment against players in their hundreds with superior equipment
Matchmaking pits you with players randomly, the only "equipment" is weapons, and anything can kill with one shot, if you actually played the multplayer modes you'd know any weapon can be found on the map, or spawn next to you, and a lot of the game modes, give everyone the exact same weapons.

>players can gag up on me
the game has tons of anti-greifing mechanics, like parley and defensive mode, and players only lose to mindlessly grief, this disincentives players and 9.9/10 cowboys wont touch you unprovoked.

>unfinished online campaign
there is no finished online campaign for any game dipshit. The point is to keep player, and mainstory missions for online games continue to expand.

>stranger dialogue
if you have an issue with this i have no idea how you made it through the base game, non of the spills last more then 30-40 seconds.

>saddie is still present
and she unironcally functions better in the online, they literally fixed her lmao

Shill harder holy fuck

and this is why anykind of discussion of anything on this website is doomed before it even begins

Because people call out obvious shills yeah

Jesus, did you completely miss the part where these were comparisons to the single player gameplay, and not about online games in general, fucking learn to read.

Well yeah, if you just hate the idea of an online game, where they have to make progression actually mean something then sure.
but base Red dead 2 isn't all that different still.
Most items are locked behind some invisible arbitrary progression meter, you can't buy a lot of guns or "simple" clothes, they just dont exist or are out of stock.

An online game is design to be played for how ever long, a single player game has a specific end to main content, that's not a bad thing, they are just two fundamentally different things, and to be honest the structure of an online game lends itself to far more replay value.

>you can't buy a lot of guns or "simple" clothes, they just dont exist or are out of stock.
Guns yes but you can buy any clothes you want at any point, also probably 2/3 of horses can be found wild

Gunsmith in the campaign doesn't even really make sense considering pretty much 90% of the guns you can buy in the game are locked and can only unlocked once you complete a mission, in which the gun is given to you freely, really poor mechanic on R* part.

Locking guns behind arbitrary progression levels is dumb in an open world game. Just let me grind up money to unlock them from the start.

Yeah there's no point having any of the rifles in the catalogue because they're locked until you're given one in a mission and you can't have more than one, it's really stupid

Also my favorite gun in the game is the litchfield repeater and it's locked until like the second to last mission in the game, it's bullshit

I just watched it. That's fucking beautiful.

>Also my favorite gun in the game is the litchfield repeater and it's locked until like the second to last mission in the game, it's bullshit
I used the springfield for EVERYTHING, and every single main mission kept saddling me with the repeaters and later on, the sniper rifles, hated it.

fucking hell the shotguns are so satisfying
anyone got any shottie webms?

>someone said you have your own personal car in GTAIV as you did in V except you store all your shit in it like your horse

I hope this isn't true. My least favourite part of this game was my weapons constantly resetting like MP3.

Attached: RDR2 headsplosion.webm (852x480, 2.58M)

it has like 20 save slots just manually save your game to one of them.

only played this game for 5 days then returned it, please tell me what I did wrong as everyone else seems to enjoy the fuck out of this game
>finish chapter 1
>went online
>hunted and did missions
>played online versus modes
>hunted some more
>unlocked fishing
>hunted and fished
>did a few more missions
at that point I was done with the game, never continued chapter 2 and realized that's all there was to do, so how are anons still playing the game?

>please tell me what I did wrong
>went online

Attached: 1559224671166.jpg (690x720, 77K)

Because I really like Westerns, and this is the best Western videogame in a decade.

They're almost definitely making a remaster of 1. Best overworld, best horse riding mechanics, best story, best characters, best graphics, best hunting and wildlife, the game is a marvel

A summery of every single main mission
>5 minute unskippable ride to destination in which Arthur bitches about one of three things over and over again, Dutch changing, nothing ever going as planned, the end of outlaws
>Get Saddled with an NPC that forces you to ride as slowly as possible, or lets you take the lead and still have to ride as slow as possible so they can keep up
>Get to destination and NPC loses their shit, or pisses someone off
>Shit hits the fan
>Game forcibly equips weapons you don't ever use forcing you to either run back to your horse, or use weapons you purposely avoid.
>Escape on horseback shooting mobs while Arthur bitches at the NPC about fucking up
Rinse and repeat over and over and over again, until you get to a shitty anticlimactic "ending", and then burdened with an even more boring epilogue.

goddamn strawberry is comfy

Micah did nothing wrong.

West Elizabeth for me
That, or the Grizzlies.

Grizzlies for me. I liked the first mission where you're walking through a snowstorm. I wish there was more of that.

he just wanted munny like everyone else

Grizzlies West is fantastic, I wish more of the game took place there. New Hanover and Roanoke were nice too but I got tired of Lemoyne really quick

The fucking unskippable riding and slow walking when someone talks to you bothers the fuck outta me

What's wrong with this image?

Umm, he didn't kill Dutch, that kinda fucked him over

are cheats timed like in gtav

I meant morally he did nothing wrong. I thought he was more entertaining than most of the gang.

Try doing replay for the gold medal trophy, and having a single fuck up make you repeat same mission 3 or 4 times with base stats and weapons...

I only like the bayou for the spook factor and St. Denise, the rest of Lemoyne sucks

I haven't loved to hate a character as much as Micah in a long time

>he was more entertaining than most of the gang.
That's not saying much.

The bayou is cool but the gang is only there for like two missions, most of your time in Lemoyne is in the shitty western part of it and Saint Denis neither of which I was a huge fan of

nope

No but they disable saving

no but there's no god mode which is lame

For reals, how can one finish long ass game like thus and then immediately start a new one? Do you legitimately have autism?

The ending killcams are gorgeous, how did they make such a system that a beautiful snap of the ending blow is displayed in the every end of a fight.
I just wish they'd put the fucking Max Payne 3 gunplay in the next GTA jeez, if you're not gonna make another one, just put it in R* for fucks sake.

Attached: john naked.png (1920x1080, 2.53M)

I started a new game after finishing so I could keep the raven black shire horse Hosea gives you since it's the only one in the game and the game literally tells you to sell it

>For reals

neck yourself

I find it funny that with how much scripting and focus on immersion there is in the main story, there's segments where you're given free reigns to do sidequests with arthur AFTER he's diagnosed with tuberculosis. The stupid shit you can do in side content completely betrays the urgency that the story wants you to feel in chapter 6, and depending on how much you left undone, you could potentially do enough hours worth of content to fill another whole game while terminally ill the entire time. It's just so video-gamey, which is unlike the rest of RDR2.

>load game
>Arthur leaning on a tee with an absolute gorgeous view
>leave him there for 20 minutes

this game is gorgeous

Genuinely one of the most immersive gameplay experiences I’ve ever had. Played through it over a day or two once shit hit the fan and it felt like I was living in a Tarantino movie.

I don’t think there’s another game that’s captured the desperation of trying to keep shit together when everything’s fucked up quite as well

Truly one of my favorite character arcs across all media

I played it the online the first few days it released. It was ass and I never touched it again. Is it good yet?

>walking around Valentine antagonizing NPCs until one of them gets pissed off enough to fight.
The contextual interactions led to a lot of cool emergent gameplay, hope more games implement something like this

People unfortunately do that sort of thing when the pressures on.

Man the Saint Denis robbery in first person was insane

really liked the game, how crazy is GTA VI gonna be ?

>tfw the old west died

Attached: RDR2 duster.jpg (1920x1080, 697K)

well next gen consoles are looking pretty insane
I think the worlds they'll be able to make will be pretty impressive

I want to kill that piece of shit in person

>has a beergut with a fucking outtie belly button

they knew how to push buttons that's for sure

Honestly, this board has gotten to a point where discussion means nothing. The instant an opposing idea is posted, you guys resort to name calling and ad hominems of all kinds. It's very sad, really.

If you like the game, OP, I recommend searching for a forum, any forum really, that has a fewer amount of neurotic peeps.

Beaten it 5 times so far and on my 6th playthrough.
Are you sure you don't have "attention deficit disorder"?

he started his sentence with "for reals". Stop falling for such shit bait.

Attached: jessie.png (1120x1075, 803K)

anyone else holding out hope for a single player expansion? I feel like that the online wasn't nearly as successful as they probably expected it to be, whereas the single player is constantly praised.

they'll probably do it once there's a huge update for either the online or single player to get the hype cycle going.

I don't care either way. The base game gave me over 100hrs of gameplay. More than GTAIV did, GTAV gave me about 80+ for 100%, and it ended well so I'm okay with no DLC. GTAIV only have me about 50 hours of gameplay with a lot of screwing around so I'm glad there was some DLC.

Yes, we are getting "Red Dead Redux" which is basically a remastered version of 1.
Then dlc with Jack
there is actual evidence towards "Red Dead Redux" in this video- youtu.be/YMm20JR4PdI?t=152
Go to 2:32, why would he have thought that a new Red Dead would be called "Redux"? It was a slip and he is currently working on it right now.

Attached: Dutch_.jpg (1280x720, 130K)

>Roger Clarke's reaction

kek this reminds me of Tom Holland spoiling everything.

Attached: 1558408739855.png (360x360, 140K)

He even tries to save it by explaining it for him lol

I wouldn't surprise me. They have 1's entire map in 2, except Mexico (which is there, just polygons). I love that one actually has shit to do in it. First time I rode back to Armadillo was amazing. The fact something was happening was amazing to me.

kek I noticed that too

kek he's like "bro wtf man shut up"

Honestly I can't explain why I love the gunplay in this game. The little 'draw' mechanic, the way characters react to being shot.. if Arthur couldn't take so much damage, it would probably be my favorite shooting experience in a game. As it is, it's a little too easy, even before you get to the option of using items

A man gets knee-capped, falls over, then runs away with his magically regenerated knee cap. RDR1 had more realistic bullet wounds, if you shot someone in the leg they'd be unable to stand, or would be reduced to shuffling about if they could.

ARE YOU THE MAYOR O' THIS DUMP

story, characters, missions suck

On the other hand, RDR2 has dismemberment and decapitation

>Can literally see the life fade from an enemy's eyes
Guarma was some eerie shit

Attached: +Red Dead Redemption 2_20190109215649.jpg (1920x1080, 257K)

I've seen a few heads explode in RDR2 with shot guns, I've never seen one get cut off in gameplay though. The only severed heads I encountered were Kieran's and the ones you find as part of the serial killers clues.

RDR2 is up there with GTA IV as one of the greatest games of all time.
I can definitely see why people wouldn't like them but if you enjoy immersive/realistic sim-style games then they are pretty much the best of the best.

Attached: Arthur Morgan.jpg (1024x1448, 1.22M)

I just wish dueling was more common I probably did it 3 times in a 100 hour playthrough, you got challenged to duels all the time in RDR1.

Bounty hunting too.

is there some way to get the controls to respond faster?

outside of camp I've never felt any delay
