I was stuck here for 2 weeks as a kid. Fucking wall demon, fucking Vincent limit break form healing him, fuck that place. Music haunts me too.
Never played a Final Fantasy game before but this will probably be my first because it finally ditched the archaic turn based/ATB combat and went action like it should have a long time ago.
that wall demon is a pain in the ass especially if you're underleveled.
Looking forward to disc two stuff like Tifa and Cloud exploring his memories mostly. Years away though.
I just recall Cloud with the Nail Bat destroying everything at that point. Climhazzard would fuck shit up for like 5K damage.
They better not take this scene out
I really love the actual twist of the game. Still baffles me why people put so much wight on the aerith death.
After replaying the game, it's now pretty obvious Sephiroth was the one in control.
Aeris death also didn't accomplish anything, since she had cast Holy already, right?
Someone just post Tifa's breast already
When the remake was first announced I irrationally hated turn based RPGs and was excited it would finally be a "real game". But since then I played the original and appreciate that turn based style more now, much more than the XV battle system.
>Automatic Combat
>Look at limit breaks in original
>realize the best character is going to be Vincent
Transforming shit is always broken. Especially in games with automatic fighting for the AI.
If your team isn't Cloud Barrett and Vincent, you're doing it wrong.
I can also see Red being OP with his buffs in his Limit breaks.
>After replaying the game, it's now pretty obvious Sephiroth was the one in control.
it's outright stated in the game. no idea where the people get the idea that Jenova was in control. Jenova only provided the link between the clones, and Seph hijacked the shit outta that.
As much as I disagree with Sephiroth showing up physically at Midgar (you shouldn't see what he looks like until the Kalm flashbacks), I was literally pumped as fuck when I saw this clip
tifas tits and legs in the remake
discuss
Agreed. I like how Sephiroth was a complete enigma with only vague references about how he carries a huge ass sword and has silver hair.
Now we aren't going to get Cloud's reveal of him being an unreliable narrator
I started it today in Beetle HW. Never played it in PS1 because i was fine with Chrono Cross
I think after Sephiroth spent 5 years stirring around in the mako soup with Jenova's head, they fused and pretty much became one person for all intents and purposes; Sephiroth's will became Jenova's will and vice versa. If I had to say who was in charge, I'd say Sephiroth because he is the final boss, you fight and defeat Jenova's main form before facing off against Bizarro and Safer Sephiroth, and the final entity in Cloud's head all along was shirtless sexy Sephiroth, not Jenova.
I remember as a kid, my PS1 box had screenshots of famous games on the back, and the FFVII one had a picture of this cool looking guy with fire behind him. I had no idea who it was it, and then when I reached that scene I was like "oooooh so that's who is". Was cool as fuck, probably the most badass 5 second clip from any game.
Her tummy is legit 10/10
Why can't you ever see a girl that cute sitting alone in a real bar?
Tits are great. Legs look too skinny in most shots.
As much as I like the Midgar section of the OG, the stuff I'm most looking forward to being remade is later in the game, fuck.
CUTE
Kinda looking forward to how they'll handle some of the other places you travel to
Is there more for this joke? The image is funny but I'm wondering if there's more to it
I just beat the first Disc in my first run, I find more and more things I don't like about the game and it only ever got good at the 10 hour mark after midgar. The combat was really shallow, walking around with the PS1's d-pad is uncomfortable, the backgrounds leave a lot to be desired, and the minigames feel forced and unnecessary. I'm getting this remake once I get a PS5 or an Xbox Scarlett because I think my money would be better spent there. FF7 original is mediocre at best and tedious at worst.
NOTE: I'm playing FF7 from an authentic copy I got on amazon for 50 bucks, and I'm playing on a CRT with a PS1 I found on the side of the road with an original Dualshock.
>in control
user he died the moment cloud threw him into the mako m8
I refuse to spend any more money on this game. I bought it when it first came out. Still have that copy. I then bought a digital copy for my PSP. Still have that copy. The new game is going to be too different. From cutting most of the content, to making it in installments, where they plan to charge you 3 or 4 times for the same $60 full game price. Also them changing the battle system from turn based to full action is a major factor on why I refuse to spend money on this game. But the real reason, is the reason everyone else is not going to spend money on it. The nerf to Tifas tits.
Super obvious opinion, but I fucking loved the materia system. It was easy to initially understand but there was a wealth of content just waiting to be uncovered. Some materia became boss near the end and the fact materia replicates upon mastery is ballin
>Aeris will have her Kingdom Hearts "innocence personified" personality
>Tifa won't call Barret a retard
>Cid won't be abusive to Shera
>Barret won't dress up like a Popeye sailor
>Red XIII won't dress up like a Shinra soldier
>Yuffie won't have unbuttoned short shorts
>No marching or squatting minigames
>Since the entire game is just Midgar and you'd only have four party members until Red XIII joins at the end, Jessie and Biggs will get added as temp party members
>More focus on the Turks
>Rufus won't die
>Palmer won't randomly get hit by a truck when you beat him
>Scarlet won't name the world's most powerful weapon the Sister Ray
>Don Corneo won't try to rape a 16 year-old
>Crisis Core people will show up in Cloud's flashbacks
>Hojo won't try to breed Red XIII and Aeris
>Dio won't be a muscular guy in a speedo
>No Barret date, probably no Yuffie date
>No Tifa/Scarlet girly slapfight
>No extremely time-consuming CPR minigame with an underage girl
>No gay sauna scene
>Fewer wacky enemies
>Increased emphasis on Zack, his parents are no longer missable
>Probably more about Cloud's past during Midgar since you can't have an entire game where you don't go into the protagonist's history
>Final boss of Midgar will no longer be a random tank
>They'll somehow work in "dilly-dally-shilly-shally"
I just dislike the boxman models and the disc 2 padding out the ass, but I can live with it.
boxman models are great. I much prefer them over the alternatives.
Yeah but he isn't really at Midgar though he's in Nibelheim
the hints for the Golden Chocobo sucked
There hasn't been a turn based mainline FF in like a decade at this point, shitposter.
Man, I hope that being based on Ferrari's wife doesn't make Jessie a Poochie.
>But since then I played the original and appreciate that turn based style more now, much more than the XV battle system.
that's because the XV battle system was pandering to casuals
what platforms have the best versions of FF7?
I don't like how empty the world is.
There's Midgar, there's Junon, and that's it.
i dunno man its been like 20 years
Switch has the definitive version outside of you finding a CRT and a PSX.
There's also the option of the heavily modded PC version.
this game is so good it made chris wash his hands
Looking forward to seeing how they will remake Yuffie's hometown.
I do believe Sephiroth is the overall dominant will, but I don't think it's accurate to say Jenova had no say in anything. It's obvious that there was some form of the alien influencing him since he had the bright idea of absorbing the planet's lifeforce like Jenova had been planning. It's more likely that the two had become one being by that point.
Kalm, rocket town, nieble heim, wutai, gold saucer, desert peoples, Costa del sol
That's my favorite part of the game. I hope they don't screw it up.
The end game was really romantic, with Cloud's confession and the Highwind scene. I fear Nomura will tone it down to pander to Clerith shippers.
Thanks to Tumblr landwhales, we will never see Cloud living a happy life with Tifa because that would ruin their ship with a corpse. It's really pathetic.
That's very clearly a back alley in Midgar and not the Nibelheim flashback like everyone keeps saying it is. It looks more like they're going to throw in a Sephiroth hallucination during the part after the first reactor where Cloud is separated from everyone right before he hops on the train.
Nah, Nomura is a huge Tifa fag. You saw how over designed she is. I'm pretty sure he's gonna go hard on Cloud x Tifa ship. Probably is gonna be ecchi levels of fan service.
I'm pretty sure they mentioned Nomura had the most input on Barrett's new design. Remember, he isn't the character designer for this game.
Scenes I'm looking forward too are leaving Midgar for the first time, Red XIII's dad and Barret's story. Jenova's and Sephiroth's forms will be cool too. I'm curious on how all of the mini-games will work too.
Who is it then? That italian dude?
Yeah, Ferrarri or whatever. Apparently one of the characters faces is based on his wife.
More buildup of Cloud and Sephiroth as eternal destined enemies though. So there is that.
Yes
I don't understand why shipping is even a thing. Aerith is dead. Cloud is 21 years old, yet Aerith fans want him to stay a celibate because his "true love" died. In Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, we're not allowed to see Cloud and Tifa living a happy life because that would upset them. It's really annoying.
So it must be Cloud's
good i was hoping that was the case
>good

Tired of playing Midgar
Kalm Flashback
Wanna play as cloud in drag.
I especially want to see the Cloud's memories scene, Disc 1 is tedious but Disc 2 gets more intriguing and incredible, that's what i'm interested for.
My team is always Yuffie and Cid with Yuffie in the middle.
I'm actually hoping the remake fixes up the pacing of the game towards the end. I feel like Midgar has great pacing, the rest of disk 1 and up until the "reunion" part feels great, but after that it feels a bit rushed. It's like up until then the story content was like 60-70% of the game, and then the rest up until you storm Midgar the second time and get to the Northern Crater is like 15-20%.
I know I'm in the minority, but I'm really looking forward to Cait Sith. He's one of my favorite characters, him and Reeves.
Do I give Cloud or Red XII the comet materia? I have Cloud as a physical attacker/tank, comet2 would be his AoE problem solver but Red XII is shitting magic. I could have him sling some really powerful rocks a whole lot. But I also have Red XII stacked as shit with summons and the bolt and ice materias, both with all materias. I don't have Cloud with the enemy skill materia, Yuffie has it along with poison, time and heal spells and my autism won't allow for characters having the same moves so I've only been using the one.
>Is there anything you particularly love or dislike about the game
-everything between midgar and ancient city is boring in disc 1
-the plot is incomprehensible at many points with a bunch of plot holes (why didn't the WEAPONs attack sephiroth once sister ray shot his barrier down?). Not even SE knows what the fuck is going on there are like 4 different versions of the nibelheim incident in the canon
-game is far too easy
-the last 10 or so hours are blatantly rushed
-constantly bombards you with shitty minigames
-OST is quite weak for an FF title aside from a few noteworthy tracks
-materia is far too simple for what it could have been, wasted potential
I feel like he's going to get an even bigger rework than Tifa. I just really really can't see him working with that realistic style they're going for. I hope Square proves me wrong and isn't afraid to put silly stuff in the game, but I'm still wary given their track record the last couple of years.
I refuse to believe you people exist. Like Tifa, you will never be real.
Just put it on whoever you like. The game is easy enough that you really don't have to worry about specific setups or builds except for like one or two fights and the battle square.
>-OST is quite weak for an FF title aside from a few noteworthy tracks
at the very least, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 14 have better soundtracks, possibly 11 as well but I never played it. 1-3 don't matter. That doesn't leave much else
breh its easy as shit do what you want. honestly just give everyone an enemy skill materia it will carry you through virtually everything. regular magic and most summons blow compared to it
I look forward to the remake being a Snoyboy, chapter based debacle for many years to come starting in March until it releases on better platforms.
>at the very least, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 14 have better soundtracks
LEL
So why is Midgar the only good part?
Because it's the only part with an actual story other than chasing Sephiroth from point A to point B
Because you have brain damage
>bombing mission
>JENOVA
>one winged angel
>battle theme
>overworld
>theme that plays in towns like Kalm
>cosmo canyon, if I'm pushing it
there, I covered all the good tracks in 7
I know which is why I'm purposely limiting what each character can/should use. If I wanted to just blow through the game again with no thought to what my characters use I'd do it.
>actually thinking 7 has a better OST than 8, 9, or 10
a pair of retards
I exist all right. There's something interesting about Reeves, being in over his head, turned double and triple agent. A guy who loves people and absolutely went down the right path, trying to right himself.
no argument
The game is so easy people beat it under level 30, with no materia, items, magic, and only using basic starter equipment.
Didn't emerald weapon need some crazy setup before-hand to not get gibbed instantly?
I'm playing the original for the first time. So far, my biggest complaint is the fact that the pre-rendered backgrounds sometimes make it a pain to tell where you can actually go and what counts as a ladder or not.
I've also noticed lots of silly moments, like Barret punching a dude into the camera, and the squat contest to get the wig. I'm hoping at least some of these silly moments are intact in the remake.
8's soundtrack is really overrated. I never understood why it's so praised.
The Sorceress tracks were great (Time Paradox, The Extreme, Succession of Witches), and so was The Man with the Machine Gun, but that's it.
press select
The models are disgusting and just reading through Cloud's or Sephiroth's lines makes me grind my teeth. I've played every main FF from 1-12 expect 7, I just can't do it.
>8's soundtrack is really overrated.
maybe, but not as much as 7's
>Dislike
The materia system isn't super convenient if you want to swap things around. For the most part it's not a big deal but it can be a little annoying here and there. It's also "old" in the sense that it's a 1990s era RPG and comes with all the good and bad along with that.
>Love
It's actually far more brilliant than it's usually given credit for because of how it presents a common RPG cliche early on and then pulls the rug out from under you later.
The heroic special class warrior you play as? Actually one of the random mooks you've been beating up most of the game.
The busty brawler barmaid? Actually a shy romantic wanting to be saved by a knight in shining armor.
The sweet white mage? Actually a street wise trickster who uses her looks to her advantage.
The main villain is the last descendant of an ancient civilization? Nope, just a science experiment gone awry.
It's actually disappointing that it was so many people's first RPG since a lot of it's genius relies on the audience having been seasoned RPG players at the time. The misdirection doesn't work as well if you're brand new to the genre.
If anything this is what I'm worried about with the remake. First, it's obvious they're changing a bunch of shit to the point that it might be ultimately unrecognizable. But also even if they keep it the same, the story loses it's impact when viewed through a modern lens. That's not even accounting for the fact that the original game was a fairly slow paced mystery filled with downtrodden and withered cities, not the bombastic action movie in a highly populated metropolis the remake appears to be.
What do you mean by inconvenient? If anything it's the most convenient thing to swap in the game, you can access everyone's materia at all times where if you want to swap gear you need to swap in, change equips and swap back out.
>The heroic special class warrior you play as? Actually one of the random mooks you've been beating up most of the game.
except he's gone through the same super soldier jenova enhancements as SOLDIER
>The main villain is the last descendant of an ancient civilization? Nope, just a science experiment gone awry.
pretty sure the game makes it a point multiple times that aerith is the last one
This. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who hates how Sephiroth just takes over the plot.
I wonder how the fuck they're going to handle the power curve in the remakes. Are they going to deliberately limit the materia you can get and how much you can level it? What about the level cap? Someone is going to grind to 99 in the remake, how will they account for that?
I really dig FFVII's soundtrack. It's definitely not as fun as legendary OSTs like Donkey Kong Country 2, Megaman X or Final Fantasy IX, but it fits the game really well.
Final Fantasy VII's OST is eerie, depressing, yet hopeful and magical at the same time. Whenever I listen to it, I can feel my heart weigh. This track sums it up its tone perfectly:
nah youre probably talking about the materia storm thing that does 1111 per materia equipped but you can legit never see it with even a mediocre materia setup.
he wants to fuck the cat
The whole thing with Jenova and Aeris is what I assume to be an honestly fairly sloppy vestigial remnant of earlier drafts.
>andriasang.com
Sephiroth was originally supposed to be Aeris's brother. Their hair still retains this similarity. Had they followed through with this then it actually all makes more sense. Instead of Seph just randomly thinking he's an Ancient and just plain being wrong, his whole "claim to the planet" shit actually works as a motivation. And then so does killing Aeris since he'd be bumping off his only competition. It also explains WHY Sephiroth gives a shit about Jenova since that's the creature that killed the Ancients in the first place so he now has a reason to weaponize it against humanity. Though its just my conjecture here, I'm guessing that the change was made late enough that the overall plot couldn't be altered much so they shored it up however they could.
That scene makes no sense in the original either since he leaves his sword at the scene.
>his sword
Jenova can literally shape-shift and fights you by dropping pieces of her to grow into giant monsters.
Many people know the twist at this point, it's a defining point of Cloud's character and one of the biggest JRPG twists ever. So they're probably going to rework it into Sephiroth stringing Cloud along the entire time and showing something like Cloud's revenge being so dead-focused that it's just as much an unhinged part of him as his memory fuckery is.
>andriasang.com
andriasang oh shit sudden nostalgia
Sephiroth didn't kill Aeris, Jenova did. The Sephiroth that you see is just Jenova assuming his form to move about. Before the fight starts she expresses surprise at Cloud's emotions over Aeris' death, with Sephiroth saying something like "after all...." with Jenova finishing the statement when she reveals her true form "you're just a puppet."
Zoom your ass outta here and go play some fortnite legends
I hate that nonsense. They're not "destined" anything. Sephiroth is just salty that Cloud fucked him up.
>You know remember nail bat was a Cloud weapon all these years before Negan or Steve
Fuck
>Airbuster is now even more of a Zeong copy.
I don't mind it at all though.
It's not just "silly stuff." A lot of the original game's personality relies heavily on the squat cartoonish character models. Characters regularly prat fall or fly around the screen or wave their arms around like goofballs. FFVII's popeye models are just 3D adaptations of the 2D sprites from FFVI and Chrono Trigger. Forget the animations, you can't even have the same use of space like you did in the original. Notice they don't ride the pinball machine like an elevator anymore.
>Notice they don't ride the pinball machine like an elevator anymore
where am I supposed to notice this
I liked its blend of fantasy and modern/sci-fi elements. I'd never seen anything like that in a game before. I'm not looking forward to the remake, though. I doubt I'll play it.
I'm just hoping for more Aerith; I liked her more than Tifa.
Do the Mass Effect thing where they give you bonus XP if it detects an old save file.
>Notice they don't ride the pinball machine like an elevator anymore.
The pinball machines are still there and the trailer didn't show their hideout. Only the bar.
The DLC suggests they're not even paying attention to the pacing of the original's gameplay with early summons. There's a chance we'll be running around with KOTR and Omnislash while still in Midgarm
it has what looks like a motor, metal rails the platform would travel along and the floor has an obvious outline so I'm thinking that user is fucking retarded
The funny thing about that statement "just a puppet" is that it's wrong. For a period of time Cloud is worried that he is just a puppet based on the whole cloning program but he's not a clone and never was. So that statement could only serve the purpose of messing with his head to scuttle his drive. But Jenova isn't shown to be especially intelligent. It's just John Carpenter's the Thing and seems to act on instinct. Certainly not intelligent enough to engage in the kind of indirect warfare of leaning into Cloud's insecurities. Sephiroth being the speaker and using Jenova as a host is the best explanation.
You've described exactly what I adore about the game's ost
It doesn't respect any sort of player agency most of the time.
Summons are irrelevant since the only ones that indicate actual story progression were the Bahamuts.
I hope they keep that sidequest mostly the same. I need Yuffie stealing materia right out of your hands and Reno and Rude trying to enjoy their day off.
Midgar is the easy part since it's pretty linear. It's everything else that's going to get warped beyond recognition. Removing the overworld map alone screws up all kinds of things. Fort Condor is probably gone. Yuffie is probably a mandatory party member you'll meet in a town, the flashback may not even happen in Kalm since that town serves no other purpose. Chocobo breeding will be either removed, very different, or you'll just have to buy the damn things as DLC for racing. And a dozen sidequests will be shoehorned into other places.
>Is there anything you particularly love or dislike about the game?
Cid and his unabashed sexism and masculinity.
>Looking forward to anything specific in the remake?
No. The charm and slapstick humour will be lost in favor of political correctness and muh realism and the fact that the first episode is nothing but Midgar means i can't even look forward to the weapons, gold saucer, chocobo catching/bredding/racing, costa del sol, bugenhagen and nanakis storyline, knights of the round, or flying the airship (which probably wont even exist if we look at FFXV).
Materia is undercooked, could've been great if they really went for it.
even when it wasn't neither my first nor my favorite FF I still enjoy the hell out of it, my favorite parts are the rocket mission, the ghost caves under Cosmo Canyon. for characters my favorites are Shera and Cid then Aerith, Barret, Vincent, Nanaki, Rude and Reno and Lucrecia, Cid and Shera are part of my favorite FF characters since then
The remake Michael Bay-ifying everything rubs me the wrong way. Better technology doesn't mean you have to change the tone but that's exactly what they're doing. The game is essentially a different genre now (not game genre, I mean thematic genre). It's like comparing the original Fast and the Furious with the new ones.
Just as a small example, Midgar looks like a bustling city now with trains crowded with people in a high paced environment. In the original game it was just a few tired people on what looked like a late night ride. It was downtrodden and quiet. The defeatism was palpable. Now it looks like a big brawl in the middle of Gotham City.
youtube.com
THEY BETTER NOT FUCK THIS UP THIS MOMENT
When cloud takes off his helmet in his memories and the swelling orchestra from heart of anxiety come in is the most memorable moment in games in my opinion
Basically I worry about the quiet moments, which there are many. The original game didn't have that many action beats. Even the reactors weren't all that action oriented. Aside from the random battles and the escape timers, they were these giant imposing places that dwarfed you and it was more ominous and foreboding than hurried. I'm worried that all it's going to be is a steady stream of enemies soaking up the player's attention during all those originally powerful moments.
Paid DLC.
Airship was in AC for a few scenes. Don't see why it wouldn't show up in this eventually.
I'm concerned that the warped personalities some of the characters adopted in the post-FFVII world (emo Cloud, Purity Sue Aerith, friendly Yuffie, non-threatening Cid) are too ingrained in the current Square Enix staff to be fully reversed for the remake.
The weirdness of the trailer (Aerith is attacked by ghosts now?) does little to convince me otherwise.
"Show up" sure. Be the main mode of transportation? Maybe. Actually get the fly the thing yourself? HIGHLY unlikely. At best it'll be like FFX. You pick a place on a map and teleport there.
the "Watchmen of Fate" that seem to be tied to Sephiroth or something, which is either a new plotline for the overarching story or Jenova's method of trolling the shit out of Aerith or something
Dude that's over a half hour long. Can you at least summarize what you want me to see?
from what we've seen, barret and cloud kept their personality
We have to yet see aeris being innocent and act like a little girl to have confirmation that the soul is intact
just listen to it in the background or something
This is what I'm worried about. If they're slicing up the original story to fit this episodic shit then they can't really slice up the original game evenly. So they're probably going to mutate the shit out of the story to afford each episode a digestible beginning/middle/end. I'm expecting either random episode-specific storylines to act as the episode's A plot layered on top of the original FFVII's B plot or otherwise canon FFVII material blended, compressed, and moved to accommodate the new format.
Why do people do this? You clearly know what the video says and a single sentence or even a general time stamp could address the issue. But instead I have to invest 36 minutes instead of you investing 10 seconds? Sorry I just don't care that much.
because it's worth listening to
I look forward too seeing how Red plays and how other enemies and bosses function in the new combat. Especially the human ones like Reno and Rufus.
Red XIII is gonna be the Gau/Strago of FFVII remake
I might listen to it at some point in the future if I knew why I should. Hard to have interest when you respond with nothing but a link. If you think there's something in there that relates to my post then just say it. Why be cryptic about it?
We're a long way from it, but i look forward to see what they do with the Disc 2 escape sequence from Junon, because it's so contrived in the original, between leaving your equipment and materia on you (you can check on the menu) to Barret not tying up Scarlet and then getting surprised when she locks the room behind him when he exits. And of course, the snowflakes will probably want the bitchslap contest to be removed or retooled in a cutscene so that Tifa wins automatically.
The human ones are easy. How about the giant monster house?
it's a dude giving a complete run down of the behind closed doors E3 demo, if you care about FF7 enough to worry about character representation then it's worth listening to because it's one of the main talking points
the video details the entire bombing run mission, not just the shit involving the trailer and boss fight
Yeah, it had an attack that dealt 1,111 points of damage for every materia the character had equipped, so if you equipped nine or more, it would be instant death. Ruby Weapon also had some weird setup where you had to enter the battle with two characters KOed or it would use some kind of instant death attack or something. I don't remember all the details, but it was something you'd never figure out without a guide.
There were ways to do it without a guide but the problem with those battles was always that in order to beat them "right" you needed to already have the shit that they rewarded you with, making the whole thing feel like a cheat.
Look guys I don't care that much. I mean I CARE sure but if you want to just TELL ME that the video confirms there are no issues with the character personalities I'll happily take your word for it. I don't feel especially compelled to watch hot takes anymore in my old age.
The weapons were dumb as hell
FFVII's post game is probably the biggest problem it has. Letting you pick your own savepoint is also dumb because you have to walk back up
>mfw we get to play actual pinball while playing the remake
it's going to have "games within games" isn't it
>I'm playing the original for the first time. So far, my biggest complaint is the fact that the pre-rendered backgrounds sometimes make it a pain to tell where you can actually go and what counts as a ladder or not.
Pressing Select will put an arrow over Cloud's head, red triangles over doors, and green triangles over ladders.
What the fuck is he drinking? That looks like some cheap ass whiskey.
Golden Saucer in the second or third game will probably be incredibly fun.
The remake seems to imply that Avalanche isn't responsible for the reactor explosion. Meaning they're scrubbing the domestic terrorism angle.
This is gay porn
Please post more
ahahaha you fucking brainlet
>masculinity
He is a like a abusive manchild who thinks smoking and swearing is cool.
FFVII had some wacky fucking enemies. Why didn't Monster House or whatever the hell that's supposed to be appear in future games?
I just love it how random and weird Squeenix monster design used to be. It's the very definition of soul. Pic related.
there's a version in IX
There is no evidence that Sephiroth was in control of Jenova.
No, they're implying the destruction wasn't their fault. Biggs is denying it. Cait Sith points out they hurt a shit ton of people way later in the game. They're just introducing it earlier.
FFVII was the last "classic" Final Fantasy where the franchise happily basked in video game logic.
>our master Sephiroth
Some of the missable shit is a pain. Missing out on final limit breaks for picking a wrong option or not doing the right thing 15 hours earlier in the playthrough is dumb.
Not knowing when you are gonna lose control to a long dialogue scene only to be forced into a boss fight without having time to prepare.
Not knowing when the game is going to force you to use certain party members at certain times.
Materia management could be a little better, all the good functions are not the default materia menu.
I love the game though, top 5 for me, but it does have a few dated bullshit aspects.
I hope that's the case. But I somehow doubt they'd put that in the trailer if it wasn't meant to be a key plot point. I don't remember any comparable line in the original game, at least. Maybe I'm forgetting.
if you have meteorain on cloud by that point it is super easy, and if you kept aerith the whole time up to this point you'd probably have great gospel which also makes the fight pretty trivial.
There isn't one as far as I can recall.
If someone knew Japanese here we could compare it to the Japanese line and see if that one has a different implication.
you mean when cait sith gets crushed in the temple by the black materia?
>Some of the missable shit is a pain. Missing out on final limit breaks for picking a wrong option or not doing the right thing 15 hours earlier in the playthrough is dumb
at least it's not the Zodiac Spear
You're totally right that it's horseshit though. Vincent's is particularly obnoxious.
I’m guessing it will send out aoe attacks like the smoke then transform either when it’s health gets low or it’s staggered. I don’t think it’s going to be cut though it could be turned into a miniboss or full boss this time.
I just hope we can see more of Reeve Tuesti like we did in DoC
The best I remember is Barret and crew justifying it in a "they made us do it" way. So yeah maybe Biggs is saying the destruction isn't their fault under similar logic. But the line's delivery made it sound like it was a curiosity. Like "if we didn't do this then who did?"
what else would it be, apple juice?
Rufus didn't die tho
>final limit breaks
The only good ones are Cid's and Cloud's.
Been kinda outta the loop, what's going on with the remake? Did they condense the whole game to fit within Midgar or is it just the first part? It seems like they're purposefully trying to hide the fact
I wonder if they'll be able to keep it secret that Reeve is Cait Sith with voice acting. They might just be upfront with him being Reeve much earlier
Cloud is a puppet, he was injected with Jenova's cells. Why he can suddenly resist control is never explained because FF7's story isn't exactly the best
they say they went too far
trash game I pitty its fans
he gets assblasted by ultima weapon
>Looking forward to anything specific in the remake?
lol im skipping that shit
>cut content
>paying for half a game
>sjw pandering
>shit combat thats not like the original
>shitty redesigns of characters
>shit v.a`s
etc
They're definitely not marketing that it's episodical, but this first episode is just Midgar. We have no idea how many episodes are planned.
I know Yuffie's is worse than her lv. 3, but I thought Aerith, Tifa and Barret also had good Final Limit Breaks.
That's why I'm asking. Unless he filled a tumbler with chardonnay for some reason I don't know what that liquid could be.
>ugh why are you so aggressive and bold, are you a little kid?
get your t levels checked fag
Midgar is 2 discs
If you equipped just two materia, then the attack would trigger Lucky 7s, which would do a shitload of damage to him
It's very unlikely someone would find that without a guide, though
it's episodic, the first episode is in midgar
the whole thing is a cash-in sham if you ask me. the linear confines of midgar are the only setting this project is viable, and that's what they're cashing in.
Throw in an extensive section where you have to go watch or act in a performance of Loveless.
PC with the Remako AI Upscaling and upscaled battle textures. It is basically HD vanilla, having to rebind the controls is annoying but easy to do.
He damn well did die in FFVII. The cinematography of the scene is clear as day. His survival was a really stupid retcon.
And he survives it
>but this first episode is just Midgar.
Do we know that it's actually not the full story though? I mean if they wanted to the whole story could play out in Midgar,
no it couldn't
probably they will use a cute cat-like voice for Caith Sith and we only get to hear his voice from him in person or special transmissions
I love how it was fun and true to artistic vision.
In other words, I am going to hate the living fuck out of the censored cancerous piece of asscheese calling itself the remake.
the entire complex he's in explodes and you see him get caught in it, how does he survive it? unless they retconned it in other materia, I've only played 7
I don't really like the nostalgia wankery that was AC but I'm pretty sure it is Square canon that he somehow survies.
>not realizing they made it Midgar only because the next generation of consoles were taking too long to come out where the 2nd episode will be released containing everything else in the game including the full open world map and the ability to manually fly the airship over it due to the power of the PS5™
yikes dude
The first game will be midgar. It will have it's own plot while also being part of the main plot of FFVII
People still think its a 1:1 remake thinking that the 3 first hours of midgar from the original are gonna be filled with filler and shit.
Have you ever played trails in the sky? think of the first part as FC.
We know for a fact there's at least one more game coming afterwards.
Also, FFVII would have to be fucking assshredded to take place in just Midgar.
The actual tiers are decided by how many hits they have which makes Ungermax and Highwind top tier followed by doom of the living and omnislash.
The demake transforms it into yet another ots action game. I really wish zoomers could handle more than 2 camera perspectives and control schemes.
It was stupid. No argument here.
In Advent Children he's a wheelchair hermit.
And then they couldn't leave it like that, so they made another cut where he actually gets out of the chair and he just has like a bandage on his head.
>turn based shitter
fuck off faggot
>We have no idea how many episodes are planned.
My cynical side wants to say that the first episode gets released, the second episode is heavily delayed but eventually gets released, and the remaining episodes, however many there were supposed to be, are Duke Nukem Forever'ed because of ballooning costs before quietly being canceled leaving the remake hanging at Costa Del Sol or something.
Yeesh, shill.
Since I have no intention of ever buy a PS4,I just hope that by some miracle it's ported to Xbox
you can't get much lower than FF's turn based combat. Oh wait FFXV exists
Cait Sith is one of my favorites as well, i always pictured him sounding like Gilbert Godfried
Why do you insist all games look and play the same you groid
I love 5, but it's soundtrack is certainly one of, if not the weakest of any FF OST. It has a couple bangers, everyone knows Battle at the Big Bridge, I love decisive fight too, there could be others, but the majority of it is just...so meh
How does this image make you feel?
I'm looking forward to watching it sell less than half as well as the original because censorship is cancer.
I dont think he's gonna be reworked, look at the enemies.
I'm guessing you never saw Advent Children he said that before Ultima's attack hit the building he escaped from a emergency escape hatch
keep in mind that it could be coming to other consoles as well how would they handle multiple disk?
My first time playing back in 1997 I queued up Cait Sith's limit break and literally spent at least a full day in a load/reset loop until I got his insta kill.
I wish boomers knows how to manage more than one character in a party based action games. But instead they wanted gambits from ffxii to help them “strategize”. Top kek. Why don't you boomers just admit that you're shit at reading and processing information from your television without having to pause?
turn based is most common combat type for jRPGs you mong
original FF7 screenshots welcome btw.
I beat that game in 4th grade and I remember some kid was surprised I got to the end in 2 months. he was like "you should tell the guiness book of world records. I heard the best guy did it in like 1 year so u could be #1"
total crock of shit of course but thats the 4th grade experience XD
What we could have had...
you know that, even if rts use the same basic mechanics, they aren't the same games right
same with fps, rpgs, action games, and other stuff?
I hope they redesign the SHIT out of those three. Rufus especially looks awful.
this game's lore is a fucking mess
>final fantasy
>strategy
lol. Ironically there is more strategy in 12 because of gambits, yet you complain about it still
>this is how virgins sees at nu-Tifa
Sad and lonelypilled.
It's a retcon but that's okay, Rufus is an interesting character so him coming back a changed person after surviving those events works for me.
>official artwork
Dont know who he is, but i just looked at him at youtube and yeah, that's the kind of voice i was expecting
It's like a clown, like snarky, i dont know how to describe it.
Oh wow they nerfed her tits in NT too. Ethics department is getting way outta control.
oh no pursuing the main villain is the major plot of a final fantasy game, what are we gonna do?
>Looking forward to anything specific in the remake?
>source: my ass
Never saw that heavily, virgins edited “official art” before.
Yeah, Advent Children retconned it but clearly the original game's FMV scene intended him to die in the explosion. He doesn't make a break for it or anything. The giant laser is coming straight at his face and he stares it down. That's the classic cinematic language for "badass villain death."
They were smaller compared to the OG game you shitter. Fucking retard.
>vrigin vrigin virgin virgin
Isn't it just so laughably pathetic how shills are trained to repeat this word like we're supposed to conceive it as being an argument?
I feel like they'll never really capture this sense of scale in the remake when it's nothing but a third person viewpoint while endless enemies are coming at you like Kingdom Hearts. The pacing and tone are all kinds of whacked even from just watching the trailer.
Im just tired of everything feeling the same. New games are fucking boring
hahaha
i understood this reference. as cliche as this sounds, I doubt most people in the thread do.
looks just like that low rez scene I remember
Well that's bullshit. The cutscene clearly showed him just standing there until the projectiles hit the building. Why bother with such a heavy retcon? Just say he somehow survived the blast. It's not like the building was vaporized or anything.
that cosplay is such poor taste
He's either gonna look like his concept art or they are just gonna reuse his AC outfit and the Turks are gonna look like they always did
ok I have to ask about this
When I got through the area with the serpant on a chocobo, I entered the cave while riding. This scene played out. I left the area, got off the chocobo, then went in to an entirely new area. Is this intended? Where is this supposed to play?
This is another thing that makes me worried. They're changing rules in order to have "waaaah sephirossu desu ne!" moment early on for nornies who only saw AC. It makes no sense for him to be there yet, Jenova is still captive at this point and Cloud never hallucinated him.
>FF7 Switch port actually visibly drops down to 12-15 fps at times during battles
Based FF7 exposing and BTFO Nintendo once again.
most people dont realize the reason they loved ff7-9 was because of the atmosphere the pre-rendered backgrounds created
see there are shots where the camera zooms out and gives you a wide view of the area
>he says this while making threads after threads about Tifa’s tits
don't lie to yourself user VII is in that weird spot along Pokemon where no matter how bad the derivaties/sequels/remakes are they're guaranteed to sell like pancakes with (at least) 9/10 score reviews.
I hate that but we can't do shit on that regard, if any the game is asuccess and media will brand the rants as "haters who tried to sabottage this masterpiece"
just wait for the game's launch, wait for some of your normie/bandwagon friends to buy it, burrow it for a while and then decide if it's good enough for you to buy
There's nothing wrong with the mechanics the remake is using. It's just that FFVII is not built for those mechanics. So it's story, tone, and pacing will have to be warped to accommodate it. Which actually reduces it's value as a remake since it'll contradict the original in a lot of key ways, creating a broken base regarding which "canon" people prefer.
I’m guessing Rude is going to be backing up Reno this time for his boss fight. Either that or Reno is going to be tough as shit and can take getting combo’d by three people at once.
Daily reminder that episode 1, although it will sell great, will be heavily critiqued for being only 10-13 hours long and that it took too many liberties with the story which will impact squeenix's reputation. They'll rush out episode 2 trying to recupe from the hit, not before having changed the dev team again. It will only cover up to Nibelheim and it will be revealed they completely cut the overworld map, making it a linear experience. It will sell poorly. Squeenix will go under before episode 3 is ever in development. Yuffie and Cid will never be seen, Vincent appearing only at the end of ep2.
Screencap this
I always imagined either Tigger or Bugs Bunny but Gilbert Gottfried is a better choice.
>So it's story, tone, and pacing will have to be warped to accommodate it
this has already been done through the various retcons
I'm hoping the trailers are just to try and bait in a wider audience, and the cutscenes and pacing will be kino. I will probably be proven wrong though.
Oh gee I sure miss looking at a buff gay dude in spandex. Are you sure you're not a closeted homo, faggot?
>third person viewpoint while endless enemies are coming at you like Kingdom Hearts
Precisely. I'll be skipping this one as I did with DEmake 2.
SCENES THAT WILL BE CENSORED:
>Tifa's tits
>Tifa's pantsu
>Cid. All of Cid. He'll get an entirely new backstory.
>Wall Market
>Temple of ancients
>every single word that everyone speaks
We're not getting a remake, user - we're getting a fanfiction.net-tier shitty self-plagiarized fanfic.
Nah, Aeris has the best limits in the game. Her level TWO limit completely fills everyone elses limit bars.
well they claimed each episode the length of a full game so they'd be rightfully criticized
Funny enough, I always pictured Cid as having a thick ass Irish accent. I don't even know why. Maybe it was his invocation of lady luck in the ending.
Shouldn't he be British, considering how much he talks about goddamn TEA!?
yes it is a one time area that you enter the first time you pass the swamp
are the voices in his head early in the game not supposed to be jenova/sephiroth calling out to him?
It really makes Midgar look too normal. The original game had tons of weird lighting and shit to give the place the sense of a cyberpunk slum. The remake makes it look like modern day Detroit.
I always pictured him as scottish for some bloody reason
Is FFVIIR peak soulless?
Too disturbing to younger audience. We had to censor it. Prease undehstand.
Cinematography is definitely one of VII's strong suits
see
This is the game that gamers ten years from now will point to as the dictionary definition of 'soulless'.
also that's the upper plate you tard
Is user just oblivious that he's actually fishing for (you)'s and can't have a normal conversation ?
REEEEEEE DONT BLOW ME THE FUCK OUT
I don't understand how you go from what you have there to the AC design. In AC literally everyone looks like a pretty boy, even Cid. I guess Barrett doesn't.
It's mostly when he sleeps or is uncouncious. And yes, it's the call of reunion. A far cry away from hallucinating an articulate Sephiroth in broad daylight (again, cannot be Jenova at this point).
To be fair, the crossdressing scene was one prolonged fetch quest that involved running from one shop to another and back again a few times. In an isometric RPG where these places are four steps away from each other that's not a big deal. Scaling up the area to work with the new game engine would actually make a faithful recreation a pain in the ass that would take too fucking long. Not saying they aren't changing it for bullshit reasons, but there are also pragmatic reasons to just put him in the dress in a single scene and be done with it.
The sad part is, it'll probably sell almost as well, because modern gaming faggots never played the original and won't know shit about the game they're playing a remake of. Still, the honeybee inn is a super minor piece in the puzzle, it's that whole scenario section i'm worried about, not just that. Dressing cloud up like a cute girl was a nice break from the serious portions in front of and after it. That whole thing is going to be retarded.
I always pictured him as my abusive uncle
barrett wears a fucking mesh tanktop bro
I honestly couldn't care less about Tifa's chest itself, but now that I know that every line of dialogue and every design in the game is approved by a broadest-possible-audience-minded soulless committee of old business instead of actual writers or artists, I can tell you that the quality will be absolute ass without even having played it.
NO great work of art was ever designed by committee.
the angle pre-rendered background fags don't want you to see
how does it feel to be healing-winded by aeris
like a gentle summer breeze
Almost every game was made by a committee.
fair enough.
Later when we get more information and eventual game release you better not buy it or even like it like a fucking hyprocrite who doesn't see almost anything of a game, makes an opinion out of nothing and rejects a game.
The OG game was an actual cartoon. The character proportions were crazy for everyone. Barret looked like goddamn Bluto and everyone else had tiny torsos and giant ass Barbie doll legs. They're (what I think is misguided) approach to hyper realism necessitates some changes to the body proportions.
the upper plate detail is gonna be creepy as fuck
>"designed' = 'made'
You're either ESL or a drooling pants-on-head retard.
Shills count as number two, by the way.
I fucking hate how sterile, MMO lite and boring the remake looks. Every area looks empty, most are because they need room to fight enemies KH style. The original was full of charming clutter, packed with soul, and had an atmosphere. Now we're in the zoomer play pen mashing away.
That's the other thing of course, fuck Square and their "action" combat. How anyone likes this dog shit is beyond me. FF7 sold 10m copies and no one, fucking no one, ever said "I wish this combat was more action based." Hard pass on this whole shebang.
watching this scene always makes me feel happy and hype as fuck
not him but m8 I have 80$ on me right now & it's just so tempting to just go out & preorder the game but I know it's better to wait things out til they decide to tell us more about how each "part" will fit into each other & what carry's over if anything even will
also the giant ass Shinra HQ towering over everything
FF combat was always shit, FF never sold on the combat.
>fuck square and their action combat
every game with action combat from square has been better than FF turn based shit aside from FFXV
it still doesn't look anything like the Midgar from the original game
This is so fucking stupid.
If you have ADHD sure. Or you're a faggot who wants to suck Sora's dick.
Just imagine: When FF7 originally came out, the very idea of an "Ethics Department" would have been laughable.
Finally someone who gets it!
>They will bounce
Am I the only one who gets equally annoyed at game publishers making "anti-SJW content" announcements just as much as the "SJW" announcements? Can't these guys just fucking do what they're going to fucking do, make the game they're going to make and then leave people to make they're purchasing decisions in peace? The pandering on both sides is out of hand.
>ADHD
why because I don't like final fantasy's shitty turn based combat? there are several series with better turn based systems
Don't preorder. Never preorder.
I love the remake so far how it looks and plays, but i would never preorder anything because i haven't see the full product yet.
No, i'm not gonna see playthroughs, no i won't wait for IGN shitty ratings, i just want more information, thats it.
Im just taking the catious approach.
>strawman
Because 80% of them are made with the same middleware. It's an unfortunate reality.
Meh, i think it would be AWESOME to see how different sephiroth is during the flashback to make this scene a 10/10. It's cloud vision of sephiroth (evil, fire everywhere, bla bla) vs real sephiroth (probably a calm and cool dude)
If sephiroth still looks creepy and evil during the flashback i would be dissapointed as fuck.
They're fine, much better than their non-turn based or ATB games. They've never done a good action game. You'd have to love a good mash to like those kusoge.
cry more 2bh
I don't remember such a big disparity between HP and MP in the original game. By the time HP was in the thousands, MP was in the hundreds. Did they inflate HP totals to make things easier for dumbshit casuals?
likewise.
>They've never done a good action game
fag
FFXIV also has the best combat in the series
Duh. This game is made for the AC and FF7 Comp people, it's obviously nothing like the original.
>Music
given
>The intro
FF7 has such a fantastic intro, you just learn so much in that first hour or less. About the main character, how he's a little fucky, avalanche, shinra, sephiroth is mentioned, and you blow up two reactors and learn a ton about midgar. It just feels great. Hooks you in immediately and keeps you there, I hope they don't destroy that by expanding and doing their ""revisioning"".
Expecting this to be anything like the original when it comes to aspects like that is stupid. The MP totals are smaller because you will be using spells a lot less thanks to the way they work in this game.
So make it more like FFT instead of going full hack-and-slash.
Exactly. And that's not even a bad thing. The amount of time you spend in the game getting the story pales in comparison to the time you spend doing absolutely everything else. As a game it's about the totality of the experience and the atmosphere is part of what makes it feel like an actual adventure you're part of.
>TWEWY
>good combat
HAHAHAHAAAAAAA
At least post some neckbeard contrarian favorites like Vagrant Story or Kingdom Autism. You really want to argue classic FF that's sold 50m copies is worse than a game for emo homos where you play with a stylus? GFY.
One more reason not to play it, I guess.
FF7 OG was already made for dumbshit casuals you dumbshit casual
That's not the same thing. It's the Wikipedia summary version of the thing.
>game for emo homos
so exactly what VIIR will be
Doesn't look like one person to me. Heck even Nomura who is a character designer, influenced certain parts of the story. Sorry boomer, this ain't 1700's where only one man/women made a painting or a statue. Learn to move with the times gramps.
regardless of what you think of TWEWY, it's a far better action game than FF7 is a turn based one
the rest of your post is frothing at the mouth so I won't address it
>implying making it a hack n slash masher isn't even more casual
>implying in the year of our lord 2019 that a turn based or ATB system isn't a pleb filter
Just look at any JRPG thread and you'll see many fags bitch about how their ADHD and mind mates won't let them play a turn based game. It's one of the ultimate filters.
The first episode will. I'm honestly not convinced the subsequent ones will sell all that well though. Hype has a shelf life. I would not be surprised if the game is never actually finished and gets canceled halfway through the episode releases. I'm not hoping for that but I would not be surprised.
FF7 Remake is ATB :^)
no, SMT is one of the most beloved jRPG series on Yea Forums. Difference is it has a good turn based combat system, unlike final fantasy
Based
Yeah, i miss pre-rendered backgrounds, they really did engross you in the world of the game.
What is this footage from
Yup. TWEWY fans ought to love FFVIIR and its gay twink designs and mindless mashing.
TWEWY is fucking garbage. What else do I need to say other than you play with the god damn DS STYLUS. And there's some other retarded shit like a rhythm minigame you play at the same time. Typical Square overthinking their combat and making it into a trainwreck.
agreed, the first episode comes with full force, then if the game is bad/mediocre bandwagoners will just do what they do and move to the next hype game leaving some normies and some OG players, it second bombs third episode will be XIII/XV all over again due changing the team in a rush and the company may rik to go Spirits Within again
Yeah remember what happened with .hack oh wait.....
Don't forget that they're including the Compilation too, so there will be bigger changes than just those mandated by the episodic format.
It's obviously tifa's peepee
damn dude who shit in your cereal this morning
>endless enemies
That's another thing. Where are the enemies going to come from? Presumably they aren't teleporting in like Kingdom Hearts. The original environments were designed with the expectation of random encounters so they didn't pay much mind to space for constant brawling to take place. So many of the locations with claustrophobic or precarious footing or just plain weird but elegant layouts will have to be transformed into spacious battle arenas. Then of course the towns are going to have to be heavily expanded so they don't look hilariously tiny in the new perspective. Meaning sleepy towns like Kalm will look more like bustling metropolises.
Kek right, I can pause during my limit break so it's ATB. Good marketing Square.
Yea Forums has a SMT fanbase yes. Doesn't change the fact that plebs hate turn based because it requires an attention span.
there's an ATB meter that functions as an ATB meter so it's ATB :^)
playing with a stylus is bad?
>retarded shit like a rhythm minigame
you havn't even played the game yet you shit on it? Typical mindset of a moron who likes FF's turn based combat. Play SMT, Mother 3, Mario & Luigi, Etrian odyssey, or Bravely Default for good turn based combat
>well they claimed each episode the length of a full game
This is not a promise...this is a threat. I do NOT want to spend 50 hours in fucking Midgar.
Yeah but everyone and their mom plays pokemon. So it's not the turn based as much as the final fantasy. I think.
according to demo players you had enemies out on the field and when they saw you they'd call in for backup and shit then more would come from places like around the corner
I do
I don't either. FF7 is not big enough for what they're trying to do
>or flying the airship (which probably wont even exist if we look at FFXV).
Most of those fuck ups were on Tabata being a dickhead. The only thing I'm worried about with Nomura is everyone letting him run wild and insert retarded bullshit into the story. Really hoping Kitase can reign his ass in.
who decides what's and what isnt atb anyway
the guys who created the system or some random dude
He's not polite enough for received pronunciation. But picturing him calling Shera a bitch while sounding like a leprechaun makes me happy.
I played the game, it's hard to describe such a shitty concept as the partners' commands other than rhythm game. And yes, the fact you have to use a stylus to do faggy motions every battle makes the game shit period. Motion controls are bad.
I said this earlier The areas will all be large and empty so you can fight enemies. All the atmosphere will be gone. It doesn't resemble FF7 anymore.
>too stupid for the puck system
never mind that, calling it a rhythm minigame proves you havn't even played it. What can drive someone to shit on a game they never touched as an attempt to defend a low-tier combat system like final fantasy's?
Looks like Detroit to me.
>chasing the man in black
>world crisis
>temple of the ancients
>northern crater
>under the pizza
Ur a retardp
>The areas will all be large and empty so you can fight enemies. All the atmosphere will be gone. It doesn't resemble FF7 anymore.
yeah, the train section at the beginning is soooooo open
This is some George Lucas shit. It's obviously not ATB to anyone who has eyes.
Keep in mind that "full game" by modern standards is 5-6 hours.
If there's one thing the remake will do better than the original, it'll make me really fucking sad that Jessie dies. Fucking qt3.14 right there.
There's a tiny bridge in the original where you fight the turnaround robot boss that is now big enough to hold 5 elephants. Obviously fucking with the scale massively.
I'm looking forward to the Hojo fights on the Sister Ray. I always took Cloud, Barrett and Vincent for that fight, by them time I get to Lifeform-Hojo N, Cloud and and Barrett are dead and Vincent is in Chaos, who just solos that fight pretty easily.
So the villain sephirothisn't the real one?
I'll be honest, sometimes I think they make this shit up. If I were designing a game today I'd probably say I "ran everything by our ethics department" too, no matter what I was putting in the game just as a precaution.
You only see Sephiroth when you go to the north crater
Every other time that isn't a flashback it's Jenova pretending to be him
and then you go to the battle itself and you see that the bridge in battle mode is actually big enough to hold 5 elephants
They're gonna change the interactions with the Turks, aren't they? With how much it seems like they're expanding Midgar and trying to get you more attached to Biggs, Jesse, and Wedge before they kill them off, I can't see them keeping it as Reno blowing up the plate and murdering them and then acting as the recurring comic relief villains with Rude and Elena for the rest of the game.
oh yeah look at how fuckhuge they made it lol
Probably because the fights are going to be more death by 1000 cuts variety. You'll just get bum rushed all the time by hordes of mooks so the HP is upgraded to account for that.
forgot pic
I mean, it looks nice but it's also has a shitty blue tint like half of Hollywood's output. I don't know what you're trying to argue here since it clearly doesn't have the high contrast of the original.
It's japan, you give your guests tea.
try looking up in the original game
Did you even play the original? The scale they showed in the remake looks very close to what it was when you were actually fighting it in the original.
Literally blue and orange Hollywood bullshit. People are defending this.
this entire thread is just people guessing things and having opinions over false premise and getting blown the fuck out, holy shit
The areas expanded drastically when you went into combat all the time in the original. Especially Midgar. Remember the tiny elevators at Shinra HQ that become big enough to carry a tank?
fire is indeed orange and the sky is green
yeah make fire green that is originality
The original has more than two colors so yeah...
yeah well get used to it, they're handling a remake of our baby we can be a little stupidly worried
Playing through it the first time right now and like it quite a bit. It's a personal thing but I just don't like random encounters, I like to be in full control of my gaming experience so choosing wether or not to engage in encounters would help the game for me a lot
Color contrast is a basic tenant of art design you dumbass reddit regurgitating fag
>Yeah remember what happened with .hack
No. Nobody remembers what happened with dot fucking hack. What's a matter with you?
I'm worried about Cloud's flirty dialogue options. Will they keep it or, date I say, improve it in the remake?
The interactions between the characters are the things I am most worried about in general.
Also
there's a rumor it will be possible to change the character's outfits. If that's true, I hope there is one for Tifa without the sports bra, so her tits get unrestrained and bounce around unethicaly
some more blue and orange for you :^)
The way I got over that was just realizing you need to be strong anyways so might as well train whenever you can, I couldn't beat these games the first time I tried hardly ever. I remember getting stuck at Seymour like 3 times in X for instance. And I had this weird idea I fucked the game up and had to restart so I would just revisit it in a year.
So I figured out why we are only getting midgar at first.
Fortnite latest happenings is what made it obvious since unreal engine.
explain
I'm legimately worried about all these things.
Holy crap, if you stop to think about there's a lot of shit in this game that will likely be changed because Square does not has the balls to just leave the silly stuff because they will want the game to feel more "mature".
Am I the only one who didn't understand why cloud cared about saving Midgar after Rufus died.
yeha lets completely forget about the people living there
Clearly FFVII was built with separate field and battle environments. That's just how the game IS. Taking one of those two things and running with it for the WHOLE game doesn't make it a justification, it's just an excuse. The games are fundamentally different. That's irrefutable. And because of that people are going to like one over the other. Using the "well TECHNICALLY..." card to argue that the remake hasn't been wildly retooled is silly to anyone with a pair of eyes.
That was admittedly weird in the original, too. It seemed to work only BECAUSE you weren't meant to get attached to Biggs Wedge and Jessie. Now that I want to cum on Jessie's face, I'm going to have a hard time liking Reno.
Its always been a test bed for unreal engine, that much has been known for a while.
Each large event has been having things that unreal largely couldnt handle before without massive works on custom systems. Their last one had large interactions with the map being destroyed in real time as players were on the map seeing it happen, no longer stuck to only being a cutscene ike many past ones.
Their latest thing turns out is a giant robot fighting what we can only assume is also a giant fuckhuge monster because this robot literally towers over the tallest buildings with just its shin, if they can get unreal to handle entities on that scale in real time on the map and actually have areas get destroyed in the fight thats something huge for the engine and all their work on improvements has always been trickling down to the devs. Their new asset streaming was a huge help for tons of devs for example.
FF7 just happens to absolutely needs giant fuckhuge monsters towering over cities in real time as you explore the map and also uses unreal. Its a test run for a similar feature pretty much, and we all know that square wouldnt have been able to get it working properly on their own.
Threads like these just reinforce that you people would absolutely not accept anything they do. The game could be just a 4k visually updated version of the original with nothing else changed and you would bitch. Tifa could have her tits even bigger than in the original and everyone could have their costumes be complete 1-1 with the first game and you would bitch that the purple on Cloud's uniform is too dark by half a shade. Nothing they could do would ever please you, and this happens every goddamn time with every remake.
>color contrast means blue and orange all the time is best
Stop being you.
>but it lacks soul
>but it feels like...
>but it looks like...
But that's not true fag. Literally only complaints about FFX HD were the changed shit. Go be gay somewhere else.
For fuck's sake you keep posting these screenshots with awful filters as if that's kino aesthetic. That doesn't make shit look GOOD.
Literally go play the fucking original then. It's still there and nothing has changed or will ever change with that one.
>and this happens every goddamn time with every remake.
Crash Team Racing was an example of a remake done right, agreed one is a smaller game the other is a game that originally was lke 20 times bigger, but still
I've learned today that lighting = filters. Thank you for this lesson in visual design Yea Forums.
I didn't like Ruby Weapon. It was a notable change than pretty much any other boss and not really in a good way. It always seemed more cheap than difficult. Also it's reward is really weak. Whoo, a SLOW gold chocobo... I already have like 2 S class but sure... yay...
The lethal joke weapons also weren't lethal or jokey enough, too much in the middle. It could also get a little too grindy at times.
I'm sure there were some other annoyances but other than those few things that came to mind I loved pretty much the whole game.
I can say with 100% certainty if they just reskinned the original with high res backgrounds and character models and rescored the soundtrack I'd be happy as a pig in shit. Fucking Mario All Stars that shit. That's all the game needs. Hell, add voice acting if they're feeling really daring. This episodic remake is the James Cameron's Avatar of video games.
>as a kid
I thought Sephiroth was a good villain
>as an adult
I think he's a one-dimensional boring character with a lot of missed opportunities to make him more interesting.
People could both want a remake and not want THIS (overdesigned, mutated, and poorly delivered) one. Learn to walk and chew gum at the same time.
You can do the backgrounds at least. Look up the ReMako mod. They used that AI thing to upscale the backgrounds and it looks better than what Square did with the recent ports.
The lighting is so obnoxious is may as well be a filter. "Here's some red lights. EVERYTHING TURNS RED!"
remako is disgusting
that happens in the original
they're going to have more explicit sephiroth hallucinations probably, yeah.
as far as I recall the only real mentions of sephiroth you get prior to him gutting shinra is the promise flashback, where little cloud says he wants to be like sephiroth, and the reactor 5 scene where you see tifa find her father's corpse and say that sephiroth is responsible. The guy does not show up at all until Kalm, so when you get to Kalm your current information is: Sephiroth is a SOLDIER, Cloud idolized him as a child, he killed Tifa's father, he killed President Shinra, and Cloud is very anxious and concerned about the fact that he's back even though he just put a katana through AVALANCHE's greatest enemy.
This buildup and mystery is what makes the Kalm flashback work. The actual flashback itself isn't very interesting without that buildup. It's very engaging the first time you play FF7 because you only know enough about Sephiroth to be intrigued, and so you pay close attention to find out why Cloud is so freaked out about him. If you already know this, it's a bit of a slog where Cloud and Sephiroth bumble around town for a few days and then Sephiroth goes apeshit.
But why? All they did was blow up reactors killing hundreds themselves.
Bingo that's what I'm talking about. And hell, they don't even have to look exactly the same. But a remake should at minimum exude the same tone of what's being remade. Not some Michael Bay version of it.
What the hell is the bike doing in this scene here? When is this supposed to happen?
playing through in 4k right now and it is great except for a few backgrounds here and there. some are absolutely amazing, the rest just really good. unless you have a CRT tv and a psx remako is definitely the best modern way to play the game.
>Cloud and Sephiroth bumble around town
Can I get this as a game?
presumably before the second bombing mission
>-everything between midgar and ancient city is boring in disc 1
no, there are definitely a couple of dull bits but shit like Junon, Wutai, Gold Saucer are all interesting enough
>(why didn't the WEAPONs attack sephiroth once sister ray shot his barrier down?)
ruby and emerald are non-canon and were added in the NA release. Diamond and Sapphire are both dead at this point, and I'm pretty sure Ultima can also be dead at this point.
>4 different versions of the nibelheim incident in the canon
as far as the original game is concerned there's only one accurate version of nibelheim, the fact that square has added a bunch of bullshit later doesn't detract from the original. there's some translation issues but the plot isn't incomprehensible
>game is far too easy
granted
>-the last 10 or so hours are blatantly rushed
a bit
>-constantly bombards you with shitty minigames
fuck you, that's part of the charm
>-OST is quite weak for an FF title aside from a few noteworthy tracks
there are ups and downs but the ups are incredible and the downs are merely pretty good, I can't think of a genuinely bad song.
>-materia is far too simple for what it could have been, wasted potential
granted, although you can do some pretty neat stuff if you get real into it
It doesn't though.
zack and sephiroth's nibelheim bumbling is like several hours long in crisis core as I remember it
I was thinking of the scene in the train when they just put a red filter over the screen
also I just noticed
>red lights casting white light
kek is this the definition of SOUL?
Yeah, this is what I mean by Michael Bay. They're throwing in a bunch of unnecessary action beats that are going to dull the impact of later sequences from the original game.
>being based on Ferrari's wife
lucky guy
You mean they are making midgar way to fucking action packed and michael bay like so people buy the next parts without realizeing just how slow and plodding the game will be for the next few chapters.
Its going to feel like a bait and switch at this point going from "ep1 midgar" to the rest of the game.
It's the definition of not making me irritated by "cinematic" lighting so sure. I mean, listen, an effect here and there is one thing. But these screenshots are clearly them dialing it up to 11 in multiple parts of the game for almost any light source. There's no tact or style to that. It's just blind bombast.
white light is presumably overhead lighting, an easy assumption to make when there are 5 white light spots and 7 red lights
I mean, if they're going to ditch the world map the next episode will likely pick up immediately with the flashback, which could be actioned up a ton. Then who knows? Maybe the Midgar Zolom is a mandatory boss fight. I don't know where it goes from there but I doubt it'll be slow. In fact, the story may feel unnaturally fast since there'd be less traveling between locations.
the only "red light" that isn't casting white light is the one in the middle that seems to be more of a stop light or something
there is white light in the center of the track at the bottom, the top two red lights are not casting anything like the bottom 4 side lights
>It makes no sense for him to be there yet,
it's clearly an hallucination. even the fire disappears
I only see the first two inside discernably white light. The rest look like they're surrounded by the natural lighting of the whole environment.
>less travelling than holding forward for 10 seconds and reaching your next destination
how are they gonna pull that off?
I doubt they will do that, they are just waiting for the engine refinements and other behind the scenes shit before going whole hog on the open world since unreal is pretty jank in many ways still.
The original game has you walk from Kalm to the chocobo farm to learn about luring them and then having to catch one and then ride the chocobo past the Zolom and then the mythril mines which really only serves as a staging ground for the Turks to drop some info. Then you can run into Yuffie, dick around in Fort Condor, and eventually make it to Junon where the story in chief continues. Without a world map I don't see how that's little more than a hop skip and jump to Junon since the Turk encounter can be handled elsewhere and you don't even need a Chocobo without a swamp to cross. Unless they add dungeons, like you actually have to go through the swamps, or make the mines much longer, it wouldn't be that crazy to think you'd get from Kalm to Junon pretty damn fast. But, again, I'm assuming some kind of fast travel. Maybe they'll surprise the shit out of me and really will have an overworld map.
I have no idea what you're imagining the game will be like but it sounds very wrong
>Maybe they'll surprise the shit out of me and really will have an overworld map.
For the next chapter they will have an open world but the the whole world.
Just each continent as they will have to load separately when you do the ocean crossing until chap 3 or maybe even 4 depending on how well square can get use to unreal
>an open world but NOT the whole world.
Fix'd
>ruby and emerald are non-canon
CC says otherwise
Well what do you assume will be outside of Midgar? Is it really going to be an open field where you jog across the plains? That would make the pacing worse, not better, since it'd likely take longer to get from point A to point B even accounting for the original's random battles.
Unique areas you traverse, the hell else? What the hell do YOU think will be outside of midgar? Literally nothing and you're spat out to the next location after next location instantly?
Kalm, the flashback, Chocobo farm, Zolom, Mines, Fort Condor, Yuffie encounter, and Junon are all that happens on the continent outside of Midgar. I can't imagine that being an entire episode. VERY little happens between the flashback and reaching Junon. You can do it all in 20 minutes. And even Junon is kind of quick. It's really just the CPR and the parade. I can't imagine what they'd have to add to fill an entire episode with just that.
I figured either a fast travel or something like FFXII where you have a small series of battlegrounds with monsters roaming about separating the different "real" locations.
No that is just one loading screen for the world.
Im saying its going to be open but limited area open.
The second continent is going to be in as well because like you said there really arent many areas per region but there will most likely be a loading screen hidden during the boat ride.
depending on when the make chap3 or 4 is the real question of if well get an actual open world with everything open like disc 3 was for the original
the second episode will reach ancient city thats for sure
My guess is that part 1 is just midgar part 2 is the rest of disc 1 and part 3 is disc 2 and disc 3
That makes sense as far as time goes. I just don't get a sense of good stopping points. There are clearly ends of events in the original game but there are very few moments where I can say would be a satisfying end point for a self-contained game. There aren't too many major cliffhangers to end on. I'm afraid these episodes are just going to stop rather than "end."
That's the most optimistic outlook. Though it seems unbalanced. Unless they pad the shit out of Midgar the first episode will be many hours shorter than two and three.
I'm square have the same headaches regarding how they'll structure the latter episodes. They can't go ffxii route, they'll have to scrap highwind for that to happen. They can't go open world because translating the old overworld into a modern open world is just simply crazy to begin with and they still have to scrap or alter how highwind function because creating 3 whole continents without splitting it up by load screens is just impossible even with today's tech. It's safe to say that highwind in one shape or the other will be altered or nerfed to ffx levels. And not to mention a lot of the places or locations in the game is pretty useless after a few cutscenes.
Thats why they are adding and rejigging content.
The only way I can see it working while maintaining an open world setting AND keeping the highwind functional is that boarding the ship takes you to a second "smaller" map you can fly over and when you land it dispenses you in the open world field with the highwind parked nearby.
*Diamond Weapon
I'm looking forward to being able to play it without suffering through that abysmal early final fantasy combat.
Will probably wait for all episodes to be out and buy the inevitable collection repack edition though.
This is the reason why REmake is probably the best of its kind, it hit the right notes without tampering too much either.
THats now how games work anymore grandpa.
Streaming the assets for massive worlds is easier than ever and only getting better as time goes on.
Thats the real reason its episodic. They arent quite there yet and needed more time with their new toolkit. An area like midgar is perfectly acceptable right now though.
There is another one called Satsuki or something that is more polished
The FFVII world map is mostly grass and some mountains so, sure, I guess they could do it. It'd be boring but they could do it.
>Thats the real reason its episodic.
Right, not because they bit off more than they could handle and want to sell one game for the price of three.
Its got jungles, forests, plains, desolate wastes, islands, an entire snowy region, and town dotted along it all.
Dont be an ass
Huh. Never thought of it that way. They could possibly mask loading during highwind's raising to the right altitude and vice versa when it lands. That's kinda neat.
>not because they bit off more than they could handle
You realize thats exactly what I said right?
Right?
A "drink" that Tifa made.
Right and nothing happens in any of them. That's the biggest issue with an "open world' FFVII. The game's everything happens in certain locations with the world map being little more than the sinew that connects them all and acts as a barrier to progress from time to time. Make it open world and suddenly that world map is a huge portion of the game...filled with nothing to do. Like everyone is saying, they have to completely rework the game from the ground up to make it work at all which by that point it may not even really be FFVII anymore.
Oh btw, I also just realized, the submarine section also use the same design structure. Huh. They really COULD make an open world ffvii work.
Agreed. I think Sephiroth is the dominant will but instinctively the Jenova cells were at work.
Think about it: when Sephiroth had his mental breakdown in Nibelheim, what did he do? He turned homicidal, wreaked meaningless destruction and was compelled to be *reunited* with his mother.
Because clearly they wont be adding more content and fleshing out tons of areas user.
The never showed anything of the sort in the trailers so far.
They could do it technically but what's the point? If I'm just jogging from Midgar to Kalm what's the value in the open world? FFXII made great use of it's environments because of things like the hunts, special areas for more hunts, locations for those pain in the ass random chests, settlements, etc. It was built for that shit. If you asked me to adapt FFVII to that kind of structure I honestly don't think I can do it.
Reno & some Shinra grunts will plan to blow up the plate. Reno will have a change of heart or hesitate too long, and some nameless grunt will press the button.
Don't forget, the game is being spearheaded by Nomura and we know he hasn't a fucking clue about the OG personalities.
"herp derp we made cloud emo in advent children becus fans remember him that way"
Fuck off. Stop trying to turn Cloud & Tifa into Squall & Rinoa.
Yeah, but again, that's not necessarily a good thing as we've seen.
Nomura is a hack who's only as influential as he is because the rest of old Square hightailed it after Spirits Within.
This is moot anyway since anything beyond Midgar is likely AT LEAST three years away.
Everything after midgard is shit.
I'm already okay with having 2 completely different versions of hte game.
Its like how disney is redoing everything with live action style CGI imo, it doesnt make the old classics any worse if anything I think it makes them better by showing how the original can still hold up on its own merits while also being such a massive success that its able to receive such a massive treatment and retelling of the story from the ground up.
Is Michael Bay a new meme buzzword or something? And didn't FF7 have those as well?
Cloud for a jack of all trades
Yuffie/Tifa their speed and focusing them on physical damage
Vincent for magic
Equip deathblow + drain MP on Vincent since he has multiple 255accuracy weapons and he'll never run out of MP, once you get a god's hand you can give Tifa Deathblow+added cut or whatever
7 literally pandered to casuals more
the best ff combat? atb and turn based is gutter trash
>that rubble texture
oof
XV is objectively better too
you literally fly the airship car in xv the fuck are you talking about
So its better to have puke green and piss yellow filters like in ?
You can fit in more buzzwords in that. Here let me add a few, there's ADHD, Casual, Michael Bay, Blue and Orange... Let’s see what else.
The only thing I hate about any and all FF games is that, without fail, the mysterious backstories to each game's setting is never fully fleshed out or explained via optional continent. I hate having a unique setting/world where you hear about a wicked cool ancient lore thing only for it to be so vague that it might as well be flavor text.
Wat if the Magi era, the lunarians ore zemus, FF5 world pre split, the original sorcerer in ff8, the world in 7 ore-jenova and during her reign of terror, the list goes on.
I don want to see it all, I just want more detailed history. I mean shit, 13 teilogy had more fleshed out lore than everything before it sans 12.
I admit sometimes that things are underdeveloped but in some cases less is more. This is why retarded autists always cry out for prequels, because they want to be spoonfed everything and leave nothing to imagination.
you know the artist is female when they draw dicks upside-down
oh no bros, they're gonna flanderize it.
>10, and 14 have better soundtracks, possibly 11 as well
Why is anyone surprised at this point?
FFVII Compilation proved they have no problem retconning and flanderizing the shit out of FFVII's good name, showing Jpop insert-characters and shitty tie-ins, and that was made by the same staff as the Remake.
What have Squenix done since to earn any goodwill?
After replaying the game it's pretty obvious Sephiroth and Jenova are one character, Jenova is the body and Sephiroth is the head. The people trying to justify one being in control of the other are all misguided, the truth is there is no distinction.
Just started replaying it. It hurts a little because modern games lost so much soul. I am currently at the wall market. So much memories. Feels good man.
I had always interpreted them as working in tandem at that point. They both wanted to get the lifestream, didn't they?
>They both wanted to get the lifestream, didn't they?
Nah, Jenova's instinct is to replicate herself and fuck shit up.
I've always liked the silly shit in Final Fantasy, so I'm looking forward to him too. That's why V is my favorite one.
Jessie is dead by that time
Final boss fight sneak peek :^)
motherfucker limit break always had cinematic camera animation
>Cloud wearing his AC outfit
Whut is this shit?
Final Fantasy VII Remake 4: Advent Children
fucking govno
>Nomura is a huge Tifa fag
[Citation needed]
He's not. Fake interviews
Good. They need to rewrite that shit from the ground up.
