A lot of old classic game mascots from the 90s seem to be having a ressurgancee as of late >Crash Bandicoot got a wildly successful remaster and has a bright future ahead of him. >Spyro also had a remaster and was also moderately successful >Banjo Kazooie got in Smash, opening the door for a potential Banjo Fourie or Remaster of the OG games if the DLC for Banjo specifically does well financially. >New Eathworm Jim game is coming out soon. >A new Ape Escape game may or may not have just been teased last July. So any fan out there should keep their eyes peeled for that if anything official comes out. >Even fucking Bubsy of all characters got a new game of his own a while back.
Well Yea Forums, with the big gaming mascots from the 90s that are not Mario and Sonic finally returning, Who else should make a return?
I want a new Gex, but it needs to keep the silly PG-13 XXXhumor-tier atmosphere. I don't even want to imagine Gex made with today's sensibilities in mind.
Also I have that model in my personal Project M build.
a gex remaster would have to involve updating all of the staggeringly dated jokes
Tyler Bell
Other than the Austin Powers stuff, most of that stuff was already dated at the time anyway but worked because those references were to iconic movies that still get referenced to this day.
If there were to be a new Gex game I can imagine it taking notes from Conker's Bad Fur Day's mature adult oriented material. And it could be a big critique of the culture war shit show going on as of late and the entertainment industry's obsession with constant remakes and streaming services. From a story telling perspective, it would be very interesting seeing a more older, mainly washed up deadbeat Gex interacting with a world that doesn't remember him, and also one that's been driving him nuts over the past decades. Mabey Gex has to square up with a more cooler relevant reboot Gex, just one idea I had.
Jaxon Kelly
yeah like the ones about the beach boys, james bond, etc. what wait were you saying?
>Fourie There was no banjo threeie, Nuts n Bolts soecifically referenced that. I'd take Threeie or Nuts n Bolts 2, honestly.
Blake Gomez
I was imagining the use of flat screen TV's and using a smartphone to access the Media Dimension. There's a lot of potential for pop culture references and jokes but the main pull was the movie references.
