They may not be the best, but GNB is the most fun DPS out of the tanks. I'll take a flashy 6 part combo over mash 1 button for 10 seconds. Their burst window feels great, fun and active and does pretty good damage to boot.

Also, the fact they have enough time to do their whole 6 part and not interrupt their 1-2-3 combo is also really nice and forgiving, I don't have to perfect time shit as much as I felt I had to before. The only thing I wish for is that Continuation was a proc hit for their 1-2-3 as well, with a 100% proc on their cartridge combo. Or, just make their oGCD dot off-GCD and on a shorter cooler where we have to keep it up.

The quest hands you a lightning cluster so you can make your own robes, which is what a weaver would use in a recipe. It's telling you that the ascians were crafters on a much larger scale. I believe this means this means the crafting matrix is similar to how the player crafts using game mechanics but I admit that the quest didn't really go into it into too much detail to come up with a full theory about it.

Besides the fact that normal crafters use actual materials, the magic of the crystals is not used in any way to actually create anything. The crafting quests actually explain how the crystals are used e.g. Carpenters use wind crystals to dry out the wood, Blacksmiths use fire crystals to create the heat to work the metal. It has nothing to do with actually forming objects out of crystals.

The quest item having the icon for a lightning cluster means nothing, the game reuses miscellaneous icons for that kind of shit constantly. It is not actually a lightning cluster.

For me all the ARR ones except the sylphs were neat and I adored helping the Ixal achieve their dream. The allied quest was pretty nice. For HW I liked them all, even the moogles. Helping those lazy cunts learn responsibility was nice to see, and the allied quest at the end was fun. Stormblood the individual ones were fine with the Namazu being heads above the rest, but their allied quest was lame as fuck until the very end.

Dragoon's potencies and damage-calculations got buffed pretty hard due to the rDPS nerfs, and probably ties into what they talked about at the Live Letter with "reprising typical gameplay styles". Seems they brought it more in line with how it is around FF9, a selfish DPS with questionable but still present party-buffs; Stone, Sky, Sea's HP and required DPS for them puts them around Monk and below Samurai for pDPS right now.

DRG, SAM and MNK are all about equal now with only BLM towering above them

I freaking love dancer, it's fun as hell. However, my one complaint about the class is the supportiness of it. Your support skills are all on longass cooldowns, other than curing waltz which is on a minute cooldown but barely heals anything even when you stack on your dance partner.

Why not make the dance steps actually do something other than take up time while you contribute nothing to the fight? Let the dance steps either grant an AoE buff around you, or specifically to the dance partner either way. The buff corresponds to the color of the step that becomes highlighted.

Options are as follows:

Red = damage buff or crit buff
Green = HoT or direct heal
Blue = haste or MP regen
Orange = damage reduction or cooldown reduction

Wow, look at that, you have a support class that's constantly doing something other than providing a boringass 5% damage buff to one other party member.

BLM is one of the best designed jobs in the game and it shows with how it never needs a rework like other jobs do. They simply improve on what's already there. Xenoglossy is an instant cast foul, despair is a single target flare and it combines well with manafont for getting two of them off in a single AF phase. The added time for AF and UI also makes it more flexible and allows you to sharpcast thunder more easily rather than saving it for fire.

From what I've seen in EX Trials so far

RDM - Shit damage, but still useful to bring to the party for their utility. Would honestly rather have a RDM over a BLM or SMN because of the rezzing, and RDM players aren't usually parse trannies that fuck up mechanics by refusing to move.
SMN - Decent, might be a bit low on the damage. The go to metaslave parse tranny magic dps class for sure. Better than RDM DPS wise, and can Rez too.
BLM - Most damage in the game, but you don't want them in your group because BLM are shit at doing mechanics. They do insane damage though.

BRD - Does surprising a FUCKTON of damage, or maybe i've just partied with good BRD. Rather rare though.
MCH - Does good damage, but a lot of them seem to not like the class. Clunky design? If you like the gameplay looks like it's in a good position right now damage wise though.
DNC - Absolute cuckshed in terms of personal damage. Can't really tell how much of a buffer they are. Looks really easy to play. Really overpopulated though. Kind of weird to see Ranged DPS be so overpopulated for once, usually its hard to fill that slot in a group.

DRG - Absolute monster damage. Rotation seems fairly easy too, but I'm not sure how awkward they are in phase changes and downtime.
SAM - Good damage, but kind of outclassed by Goons to be honest. They do more damage than goons, but goons do almost as much AND buff the group with litany. They're not in a bad spot at all though. All of the melee DPS with one exception seem quite strong and well balanced right now.

My 2 best friends are dancer and do the craziest DPS in dungeons I've seen this expac. Only the occasional SAM, DRG, or BLM can compete with them. I haven't seen even one bard or mch who has outperformed either one who I was bringing along.

WHM - Really strong healing potency. Really good personal DPS. Easy to play. The best healer to pick up and play.
SCH - Really powerful healing potential, especially with offGCDs. Everyone seems to hate the playstyle though. They seem strong in terms of their output though.
AST - in the cuckshed. Shittiest healer at basically every aspect except padding DPS for parse trannies.

PLD - While tanks are actually relatively. overpopulated right now, PLD are surprising rare. I think they're the strongest tank. Good in every aspect.
WAR - Designated to Offtanking again it seems like. They're good, and Holmgang will always be good. All of the tanks seem to be decently balanced.
DRK - So many fucking DRK right now. They seem good though.
GNB - Their immunity skill is trash imo, but other than that they're fine. All of the tanks are pretty close.

What you're missing is that their AOE skills are only barely weaker than ST skills with no falloff, so they light it up in AOE situations. Conversely, their ST skills are not strong enough to make up for it against bosses.

BLM's design forces them to have to do ridiculous damage compared to everyone else, otherwise why would anyone ever want one? Their actual class gameplay is really well done, and fun, but it kind of doesn't fit in at all with the rest of the game. They will always tower over everyone else in terms of damage, but no one ever will want one in their progression groups because BLM are so bad at mechanics until you know every second of a fight and when to move with your instant casts and teleports from the beginning to the end of the fight without any hesitation.
