i've never played a fire emblem game. I lurk these threads to see if maybe it'll spark my interest to play one. It hasn't yet, but seeing those advances wars gifs makes me want to play them.

oh ok. FE and AW are by the same devs and have similar gameplay. the main difference between the games is that in FE you play with the same units for the whole campaign and level them up like in an rpg with there's permadeath, while in AW you buy units each turn and don't level them up.
they're both great strategy franchises. the reason you don't see new AW games is because of the success of fire emblem awakening. the devs pretty much said they can't figure out how to add fire emblems support conversations (i.e. waifu stuff) to advance wars so they won't make another game. it's silly.
if you like turn based strategy, the gba fire emblem and advance wars games are must plays in my opinion.

Afaik as long as you didn't buy your switch super recently, firmware updates cannot patch the vulnerability that enables you to hack your switch. That means that no matter how many firmware updates Nintendo pushes, the exploit can't be patched. That also means that you can probably hack your switch.
