Can you name me one good reason why I should use this software instead of Steam?
If not, then why are there people here constantly defending this platform?

You can use more then one platform retard
You clueless fuck, it's always falseflagging shitposters who just try to make holy wars, just ignore them
people defend it and support it because it triggers steam users, that is why
Because it offers games that are not on steam you fucktard. If you want to be truly free just pirate like everyone else, pay only when you feel like devs deserve money.
exclusives
Triggers me into fits of laughter.
I said GOOD reasons
/thread
if steam is plebbit, epic is fakeberg. what you choose depends on the person you are.
>you should use our platform just because it's there
tim will be the george mallory of games
Ignore the platform just like Google+
And pirate the game.
Because contrarian idiots love to argue all day on Yea Forums if you haven't noticed. They have no intention of ever using the epic store and probably have a steam account with 100+ games.
One reason... one reason... one reason...
You can make the publisher (not the developer) happy. Thus encouraging him to make more of such money-centric decisions in the future. Like adding pay-to-win elements in their gameplay. Because he'll just get away with it again.
There, does that suffice?
it is a fortnite launcher, so no I can't give you a reason to use it
Just a reminder for you youngsters that nobody liked Steam when it was new.
I can contract AIDS too, doesn't mean I want too
Yeah... one day Tim will finally beat 2003 Steam... I mean, he promised shopping carts by now, but...
Yet people ended up using it until today. Without resorting to exclusivity deals or badmouthing other stores.
Why does it matter, are you so autistic you cant play video games unless they are all on one platform
Because Epic Games is actually WORTH having installed. Steam is too so I'm not going to shit them up, but Epic Games is obviously going to be the future.
Steam was the only online store for a super long time you idiot, the only other stores were just steam key resellers, they are big BECAUSE of exclusivity
use both
Who cares if it took 15 for Valve to perfect Steam?
Why isn't Epic perfect NOW?!
Their store works and you get to play their games, what more could you ask? Not every store needs to have fucking trading cards
It took Steam a lot less than 15 years, and the fact that Epic doesn't even have cloud saves makes it a useless launcher that's only there to be DRM and exclusivity deals.
If you want to find ghosts.
yeah, qbittorrent is wonderful
>implying devs see money from sales and not their publishers
Why not just pirate every game if you're torrenting in the first place
For the games it has, if you want to play them.
Same reason like Origin, Blizzard, Ubisoft store or Steam. Why is Epic any different?
because gog and steam offer me more than torrent
...
kek who wrote this?
People pretend that EGS is the only storefront owned by a large corporation and is therefore the only bad one
What do they offer?
Free games are neat. Got Subnautica and The Witness recently. Plus you get to use Unreal Engine 4 if you're into that.
Better question is why not to use Epic store? I don't get where this hate is coming from. Is it because it's tied to Fortnite and it's kewl to hate it?
Exclusives are console kiddie bullshit, that's why we hate Epic and his fucking smug dog with remote.
Goddammit I hate that remote-biter dog.
For the love of god Rockstar, if you make RDR2 an epic exclusive I'm gonna bust my ass inside of an elementary school and shoot everything that moves on sight until I run out of ammo or brain pieces inside of my skull.
I only have Epic Games for Fortnite, and Origin for Apex
not even joking
But most of the games it has are being held under a contract that not only was originally made for indie, is now screwing over the indie devs that went with it.
Now AAA games are gonna get a bunch of safety net money they really didn't need upfront and get to release their games elsewhere for more profit. (At the cost of angry fans refusing to buy the games) while Indie devs are overshadowed on a platform meant to HELP THEM.
It's like making a shelter for Homeless people and instead turning it into a photo booth for celebrities, thus banning homeless people from it.
interesting
...
what am I looking at?
I just want to remind everybody that Titanfall 2's biggest failure as a PC game was it being stuck on Origin. It being a good game (argue otherwise) did not matter, because at the end of the day, it was stuck on the shittiest platform possible.
Fuck Epic.
i use it only for metro. thats it.
>Have had a Steam account for years
>Only had 2 factor for 2 or 3 years
>Literally never hacked or anything, despite having lots of games and an expensive inventory
>Downloaded Epic trash store and made an account to meme in fortnight with friends
Let me say for the record I hated every second of it.
>Literally nothing else on that account
>That was almost a year ago, haven't opened it or logged in since
>STILL getting emails that my account has suspicious logon activity
Ya no thanks.
i didnt care since i just used it on half life and cs. also made multiplayer with friends easier.
there was no real shop involved in the beginning so what the fuck was your problem anyway.
Lol just buy it on epic games store
It would have boosted its sales for sure but it was doomed to die, it was made during the same everyone was making fps online games and battle royale reigned supreme, it was doomed to be another example of lawbreakers
no fucking way, epic will stay niche forever. no matter how much money they waste on exlusivity deals.
False Titanfall didn't sell well because it was sandwitched between two bigger releases at the time. And low marketing or whatever the fuck. Store has nothing to do with it, since many games on Origin had great success.
Does epic game store offer the option of drm free like gog?
Srsly how does it affect you from which platform game is launching? Click the fucking icon, play the fucking game. What am I missing here?
If you were in charge of epic games store, how would you make people switch to it it from steam without using the exclusives card?
nah this bandwagon on hate will disband eventually, and few years from now no one will even remember or care about it. Ofc I doubt Epic will be a serious competition to Steam - i don't know if anyone could take them on, but it will have its userbase and place in the market.
Its PS4/Xbox numbers retained and were at impressive digits for a long time. The PC version was stuck at a floundering 1.5-2K since November till now. Origin is a key component to why the game's growth was so stagnant.
It would have improved sales for sure but it would have died regardless due to the battle royale craze
Basically to make valvefags seethe.
>Origin is a key component to why the game's growth was so stagnant.
Speculation.
Again, many other games are doing fine on Origin store.
Epic Games Store
Pros:
>Exclusives
>Fortnite is free and popular
>They literally give you free games if you join
Cons:
>No shopping cart
>No achievements
>Small selection of games which doesn't warrant the hassle of installing another game launcher/library
>Reported as being spyware for the Chinese
>None of your friends use it, the social aspect is really shit
>No mod support for games
>Has Fortnite
Give Epic a year to sort their shit out and then reconsider
Overwatch and League are the only non-Steam PC games I've played in the past 5 years. Even then I just use Desktop shortcuts to avoid the launcher.
I tried Battlefield 4 and Apex too, but Origin pissed me off more than the game was fun.
Why is Steam just so much better?
You forgot some cons:
>adds an extra charge depending on where you live to compensate their lower cuts
>developer interaction is inexistent and won't change since developers don't appreciate it
Because for the longest time steam was the only online retailer, so naturally every game went to there and people had to use steam if they wanted to buy games online, fast forward many years you find a lot of users owning 100-400 titles on steam not because they choose steam but because they had no other option, so there is no reason at all to switch stores even if another store offers the game cheaper since most humans find it very nice having all their games nice and organized in one place, so the only reason they would use another store is to play a game steam does not have, which is pretty much only reason people buy games from battle net, origin, bethesda, ubisoft whatever, I think all GoG users only buy games from there because of it being DRM free.
Naturally epic games store will try to get exclusives to battle steam, even if they would just copy steam 100% people would still not switch who have been using steam for millions of years, and I can't really think of any features missing from steam.
I would question what terrible life decisions led me to that point and resign
I don't think any sensible game company actually takes steam forums seriously, besides reddit is so much popular it is pretty much go to forum for every game, I've seen much more developers use reddit than their own websites to talk to their players
extra cut is shit, I think battle net has it too, most annoying is the dollar = euro
Epic themselves went on the attack. Steamfags have every right to defend themselves or attack back. Epic brought it on themselves when they attacked the PC gaming community by forcing exclusives into it, then attacked Steam with an enormous misinformation campaign targetting stupid people. Stupid people that actually believe developers are the ones getting that 18%, for example. Or that they should even care about developers in the first place like they were a bunch of sacred injured kittens and not grown men just doing their jobs.
Except it's not 2003 anymore and there's no fucking excuse for having a launcher like the EGS, when Steam has been doing better for over 10 years.
What a horrible idea, thanks for suggesting it, I see the light now. Games spread all over, fragmented friend groups... nice. Women need to lead men. Fuck the white male. I hate that guy fuck.
>fucktard
You’re 10 or a shill, go away
This. If it wasn't for exclusives and Timmy Tencent constantly lying about Steam, nobody would give a shit. But he just can't stop blaming Valve/Steam for everything, even things he caused or things that have nothing to do with Steam... see pic related, he even tried to blame them for not providing Steam keys for a game he snatched as an exclusive, after they promised their backers Steam keys...
There's no logical reason an informed person would choose Epic over Steam. There's no 'exclusive' on Epic that outweighs the tens of thousands of games Steam has that Epic doesn't, and that's the only thing Epic has that Steam doesn't (I'm not going to start listing what it doesn't have or we'll be here all day). Supporting Epic is a decision made with emotion or ignorance. It's something you'd expect a woman to do. Something to make a point, to get attention, or to soothe some decade-old wound where Steam denied a refund because you played more than 2 hours. There is no logic there.
Here's some tiddies. Always relevant.
Pricing is up to the publisher and valve has been against what you're talking about for years now and even suggests against it in their guidelines dev portal which is why a lot of games on steam aren't dollar=euro any more.
They make up any difference in the tons of dlc anyway
yes that is the biggest flaw I find with epic yet barely anyone seems to use that argument, instead they go for the MUH STEAM REVIEWS or something like that
Do you honestly expect EGS to last long enough to see 2021?
Fortnite revenue is down over 30% from last year, even with the new season, EGS has to spend millions to get exclusives and the majority of sales are copies Epic bought themselves, majority of pc gamers not only hate EGS, but will pirate games that end up exclusives on EGS
Why? I thought it was amazing when it came out.
I've been doing some thinking about the Epic Store, and there's something I can't figure out. Assuming the roadmap is legit, how is it that a shopping cart is going to take 6+ months, but cloud saves are supposed to be implemented this month, and mod support and an overlay by the end of the year? There has to be some other force at work, like ad-hoccing a shopping cart into their billing process being legally questionable or something. The code monkeys just not having the expertise or time to implement a cart just doesn't make sense.
It's just fucktarded all around, user.
