Undefined Fantastic Object & Ten Desires have their characters/plot rooted in buddhism/taoism respectively

OG God of War I guess. Was going to say Dante's Inferno, but that shit is all over the place.

DOOM

Binding of isaac

Xeno games
Especially Xenosaga.

Ones that come to mind for me:

The Shivah is a 2006 point-and-click detective game where you play as a Rabbi
Sekiro is of course saturated in Mahayana Buddhism
Asura's Wrath is a blend of Hinduism and Buddhism
Okami is basically supposed to be a Shinto folktale
Castlevania has plenty of Christian imagery
Blasphemous looks like it will be a mix of Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy

What else can you guys give me? Also please remember to list the religion being drawn from if you post a game

i love that album, gonna go listen to it thanks op

Any time
If you haven't already, listen to Horse Rotorvator. It's one of their earlier releases but it's hands down my favorite

sekiro honestly has some of the best religious motifs ive ever seen in a game

Age of Mythology will be like cocaine for you then.

El Shaddai

Persona franchise (especially endgame personas), smt

Dead Space 2 with the Church of Unitology being a parody of Scientology
Dante's Inferno is the run of the mill Divine Comedy's depiction of Inferno
God of War 2 has probably the most ancient myths turned into gameplay and is also the best game in the franchise, Ghost of Sparta is also great and shows the sinking of Atlantis
Okami has various aspects of Japanese folk stories

SMT/P is just all over the place though, it doesn't focus on any one religion. It's a hodgepodge of Gnosticism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jungian psychology, Judaism, and esoterism/the occult.

>tfw we didn't get to kill the Buddha when we meet him on our path

Ossuary is basically a playable Discordian parable. Up to you if you count Discordianism as an actual "religion" though.

Indeed it is the idea you have to conquer if you seek something that cannot be reached as long as you carry this idea with you.

Do you guys know of any good games that draw from Judaism, Jainism, or Eastern Orthodoxy?

27 posts in and still no mention of Bayonetta? For shame.

Note the line about the zen master after that. You're defaulting to the standard western buddhist interpretation but there's something far more poignant and subtle about that sentiment

OP here, it's pretty much just an original fantasy world with three realms that happen to be called Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Definitely referencing the Divine Comedy but not really anything specifically Christian about it or beyond that

I believe the greatest happiness human has is when he doesn't know he exists.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy

What religion/s?

All of them

incredibly based coil poster

Darksiders

If you ignore the fact that Dark Souls is a meme it has some pretty interesting theology.

Original Silent Hill series has a ton of references to England's industrial music scene. I could argue some of the songs are also Coil covers.

>Coil
Sorry, I meant Throbbing Gristle.

>play game
>man is the animal
Seriously though, it's set in a Greek mythology setting

Also I want to mention Cosmology of Kyoto, which borrows heavily from Buddhism.
