Just got out of a 2 hour session against a Kyoshiro player, is he really that bad? I mean I did win like 60% of the matches as Hanzo but I feel like Kyo's gameplan still works in this game. There were times where I had such a hard time getting in because Kyo would just absolutely wall me out, half my wins I had to hail mary with issen just to get through.

Her normals lack range and her special moves make for a weird assortment of tools. It's not so much that she's awful because of certain moves that suck (like Kyoshiro's moves now,) but Shiki's specials lack any sense of cohesion.

Charlotte, Tam Tam and Wu all have better tools than him in pretty much any aspect. You can play him, but if you're planning to compete in some event, you should switch characters

Jump or backdash defensively beat low AND throw offensively.

Neutral jump is an EZ punish on regular throw across the cast, while backdash is better against command throws typically: Genjuro and Yoshi can DP you for neutral jumping, EQ can s.A > punish high jump attack for neutral jump, Hanzo and Galford probably have something they can do; maybe even run under. So keep that in mind when you choose your defensive option.

Dodge is not very good against grab. Often times you will dodge a tick throw too quickly and get snatched out of recovery.

Pretty much only Tam Tam gets a good punish for jumping lows with instant overhead jumping back C, which beats meaty lows and tick throw attempts, whereas the rest of the cast is better off backdashing lows.

Right now I'm playing mostly Charlotte, I was looking forward to Kyoshiro as someone who likes mid range characters but he just feels too weird. Messing around with Wu and even Shiki a bit, I like Wu's traps and Shiki is kind of amusing to me even if I know she's probably the worst character in the game right now. Really loving the game, very few games make me interested in various characters.

Soul Calibur 6 and SamSho are my current favourite fighting games.

I like the same archtype and I think its more of just an aesthetic thing. I think the idea of something as delicate and gentle as a woman's body in something sturdy and imposing as armor is pleasing both conceptually and aesthetically.
I like her a lot more then I thought I would. I think in some interview the character designer basically said her being in was the result of the team want a character like Velma from Scooby Doo in the series which is funny.

Galford I think is one of the harder characters because he has a fuck ton of options while not excelling in any category.. He's like the upgrade from Haohmaru, the jack of all trades character but a lot more technical as he has a lot more tools at his disposal. I see him as being one of the rarer characters down the line.

Jubei can feel a bit weird with his counters and such but if you want a more fireball centric "basic" character he's a good pick. Think of him as the Sagat of the series, that's how I've always seen him, where he's more simple execution wise with a focus on zoning. Genjuro is a fine pick though, he's definitely one of the strongest characters at the moment.

While not perfect the balance is pretty good at the moment I feel, the only character I probably would tell someone to avoid is Shiki. I think she's interesting and mess with her a bit myself but she's just such a weird character, not really appealing to any kind of particular player I feel. Beside having the best super in the game she's the only character I would say is really in need of buffs.

Haoh requires patience since some of his normals have pretty stupid range. Galford I feel is a mixed bag, really depends on the player but he can be difficult to fight since he can do like a hundred different things.

So far Hanzo has been the character I struggle most against. He has 50/50's for days that fuck me up.

I'm surprised he was chosen for season 1 dlc honestly. He doesn't have the veteran appeal of Gen-An nor the waifu appeal of Mina or Iroha, I would have expected him more down the line and more pandering characters. Still, it's coo, to see him return, seeing makes me curious just how weird they are going to get with their dlc characters, I wouldn't mind some of the sen cast joining if they were adapted well.

V special, recently came out on steam for a low price and I hear it has a higher playerbase than fightcade now. Though you may find the lack of mechanics comparably lower when you finally get your hands on the newer one this winter.
